Bit of a lull at work, so been keeping myself busy with some random painting in photoshop: This one is going to be a poster for a party we are having, we will be getting in a load of scrumpy (scrumpy being a potent alcoholic beverage made from apples in case you didnt know) *edit* Another poster for the above party

  5. Thanks chaps, its a real pain doing snow branches, thats about the third revision I made over lunch. Its not perfect but its the best of a bad batch lol.

    Oh hai! one year later lol but I have an update. The project was put in the deep freezer as the sdk was not released in time for my xmas deadline. This year however I have a test version of the map up and running already. Its going to be a survival map to cut down on the work needed. Heres a fresh teaser for the 09 season .

    With my Love of all things christmas and all things left4dead I feel compelled to make a map that combines the two. Hopefully I shall keep this thread up to date with whats done. I am getting help from a couple of friends with extra props for the map. The plan is a spooky ish christmas town, you move through it handing out christmas spirit (death) to the zombies. Heres what I have at the moment, a couple of rough photoshop sketches.

  14. Minor tip that I got from my tutor when I did my dissertation. Make it so your presenting an argument, show both sides then make sure you draw conclusions for why you feel somthing is the way it is. Its easy to get dragged in to just discussing a topic without coming to any real point at the end. On my animation course we had to do a major essay in the second year then the full on dissertation in the third year. My first essay barely scraped a pass, I spent a lot of time waffling on about the topic but by the end I had gone nowhere. My full dissertation was on the exact same subject, but I layed down the facts then drew my conclusions from them. The second essay got me a first . So in conclusion, if your trying to put forward an argument its much easier to write.
  15. The brown rust sections might look better if the normals went in rather than out. Looking at it, the rust seems to be in areas where the paint has been scraped off exposing the metal underneath.

  25. Well spotted, I must of pasted it in the wrong vmt. Should look like this: piano.vmt "vertexlitGeneric" { "$basetexture" "models/piano/piano" "$bumpmap" "models/piano/piano_normal" "$envmap" "env_cubemap" "$envmaptint" "[.2 .2 .2]" "$normalmapalphaenvmapmask" 1 } I will update the download, or you can edit the vmt's in notepad to match the above.
