    Loved this video!

Here's an extra one, not related to video games directly, but the same lessons definitely apply here.

Thought I'd share this here as some might find it useful. Small article about entering the industry as an environment artist.

    Hi all!
Here's a preview of DE_SUBZERO. The awesome Tanuki (creator of Seaside and Downtown) helped design the layout, and I created all the art. However, penE from DE_CACHE made the old-school crates as a cameo, I love that guy   Shout out to all the wonderful people who provided helpful feedback on the visuals and gameplay so far!

Follow this link to grab the games first Demo build.

Project Stray is a loot based first person shooter that blends elements of classic Doom and Quake with Dark Souls and Boarderlands. This game is the missing link from the classic Doom and Quake style fps and the modern shooter.

The same person who hand designed all of Project Stray was also the lead designer of the official Doom 2 expansion No Rest For The Living.

This demo will be the last build before I begin a funding campaign to finance the design of the rest of the game. The demo itself is a short section of the game. However, the demo includes New Game Plus functionality, This allows you to replay multiple times with better and better loot as well as harder and harder challenges.

Project Stray currently includes a fairly large amount of unique loot as well as the ability to buy and sell things at a vendor, crafting, repairing damaged or worn out items, and even the ability to affix your armor with special stats. Project Stray also has an assortment of items to temporarily boost your stats or use special attacks.

Can you survive the challenges of Project Stray?

Project Stray is an independent game project that I am solo working on. Nearly everything you see was either implemented by me or created by me from scratch!
Stay tuned for more information as I begin steps of getting Project Stray on to Steam Early Access. I am not yet sure how I can fund the development of the project. Any advice or thoughts on the topic are very welcome.

Finished my article, just need to finish the game and take screenshots. You can rest assured it will be of the highest quality, because I maturely resisted my strong temptation to include a reference to Peter North bukake cum-shots.
I hope we are all in great suspense.

I would love to see that article about the Argent Tower level. If you don't want to post it here, you can also send me a pm
As for your question. Not every level had a dedicated level designer with ownership from start to finish. Often designers/artists would jump around from one level to another to work on it. For the Argent Tower interior, Jon Lane our lead concept artist had a big impact on the layout since he blocked out almost the whole section in Maya. Designers and artist would then use this as a reference.

I'm playing on easy because it's really more fun for me to be able to take in the environments. And man, these are some environments.
I actually am serious about the story, the main robot guy who talks to you I think his name is Samuel Hayden, that's an effective narrative tool for me. The voice is awesome and am currently curious to see why he's so invested in the energy stuff. I like the way the game clearly has a story but it's mostly in the background, it's got a very solid balance of gameplay and narrative imo.
The game is getting more interesting as it goes along, the rune challenges are the skill-based injection that I was craving in the early game, they're stressful enough to be interesting. That and the berserk and haste drops are really effective at giving you the change of pace you need. The game still is a bit monotone, and it's just too slow to introduce new enemy types, but when they do I really like what it provides, the big demons and the floating demons are cool.

The sheer graphical excellence of this game is awesome. Fucking thing looks great.
Didn't hear enough people talking about that aspect tbh
