Thanks KoKo5oVaR, I'll fatten them up a bit Nice nico! I think you need to look at some references maybe? I like the long cloth, as it makes him look more druidy. Maybe try and make the folds curve diaganally down from the top of the cloth?

In the UK last world cup, might have been euro cup or something for football (or to USA peeps "soccer") they banned taxi drivers having little english flags on. Saying that it was racist because over half the population are "multicultural", thats what I call retarded. Adding to that, the English flag is a red cross on a white background....

I wouldn't call games art, but the content of games IS art. Put simply games contain art. Games are more a compilation of art, and a load of code. Game content is made by artists, environment artists, character artists and texture artists to name a few. Thats my view anyway

Pirates Vikings and Knights 2 HL2 Mod needs Mapper!
Gaz replied to Hengishammer's topic in Non-Professional Recruitment
I'm also a mapper for the mod, I am to the very best of my knowledge the only current team member from the original. And trust me when I say that PVKII is awsome! -
Make it all dirty/make it look old - Peeling off areas - Damp rising up it - water marks running from the top Hope they help

I'm bored of rehashes and the done to death. Big whoop they look better on PS3 or Xbox 360, they are at the end of the day the same games. The revolution however, yes the graphics are better, but the way you interact with it is new and interesting, with the new controller interface it uses games might not be 100% fresh, but the way you play them will be. The video I saw in Edge magazine a while back had people using the controller as a sword, a flash light and gun, and other interesting uses.

Awsome work! Loving the textures

Good skin, but I think the eyes let it down, well....they scare me to be honest Maybe use seperate meshes for them? It just doesn't look right...

Looking really crappy! Crappy as in messy, It looks sweet visually! Loving it

They're nice, but in that environment they'd need to have rips and fluff coming out of the cusions, and scratchs and dents in the wood But in a clean house they'd be fine

Everytime I go into my local GAME shop, the PC section has moved, and is smaller. I hate it. Consoles suck ass.... Viva La PC

There a few good mods out there. PVKII is going the right way, Im on the team so its easier for me to know than the public. It is a mod that you play for fun. Choose between Pirates Vikings or Knights, and bash the hell out of the other teams, whilst trying to steal their treasure. Its good quality, but not serious. But yeah, increased time spent on mods for source will mean theres a long long waiting period for them

I hate CRTs, I don't have room or the...energy to move them (move PC between home and Uni a fair bit) Anyway. I have 2 19" Relisys DVI monitors setup on horizontal span. Its a dream, great for Hammer, Max, Photoshop I love it. So much more room! Both running at 75Hz, no problem what so ever with gaming Howvever I play with only 1 for games. I can do it for 2, but then its trippy

I'd agree on the learning curve increase, its insane. When HL2 was released I was too intimidated to use the source engine. My biggest pain when editing is the now ludicrous folder scheme that Steam adopts. Where to place content, how to make it and even setting up the tools is extremely daunting to a newcomer. HL1 was easy, simple file structure. Map and go! You had a wad, thats where all your textures were. Now you have materials in numourous different folders in folders. I like materials, but they scared the shiznit outta me to start with. Now you even have materials for models, where as before your skin was compiled into the model. When I started for HL1 in the beginings of 1999, there was the HL-ERC, that was where I learn't 90% of all HL1 stuff. It was great, I had 56k then, and it cost an arm and a leg to use. So I near enough printed out the entire site. It was useful and helpful, simple and my little 14 year old brain could make sense of it. Now we have the Valve developer Wiki, its a good idea sure, but its CRAP. There is bugger all tutorials, bugger all entity info. HL2worlds Wiki is smaller, but I would say better, it has more information and clearer tutorials, even if some are incomplete. Valve, you left us in the cold, and I'd be damned if at 14 I would be able to pick up editing for HL2 now....

I don't think peoples jobs are at stake that much, but its increasingly harder day by day for people like myself who want a job in the industry to do so. I worked at Lionhead on "The Movies" for an internship for 6 weeks, and when I showed them my portfolio all they could say was "Its not got enough polys" or "If its not got Edge Loops then its no good". I felt that they were over looking the actual work I had done, some of the feedback I recieved felt more aggressive rather than helpful. Most of the people at Lionhead admitted they only got the job because they knew the lead in a certain area before hand, there were people there that to my eye daudled all day. I felt like I could have been a better contributor than most at the job. A couple of employees there were great however, but the general feeling was "go away I don't want to give you any confidence because your works better than mine, and I don't want to loose my job to you" Anyway, I know I can get a job after my degree. But as the industry stands I'm feeling I'd rather start my own company thats small and make games that don't look the best but are fun, rather than work for a big company that makes clone games because thats all their publishers know will make them cash.

But the NES is just the most classic console ever! I have 3, ones in bits, lol I agree those top ideas look ace really inovative

Oh sweet, if that is what it will look like, Imma buy one straight off, looks almost like a GC controller, my fav!
-
From what I saw of the old renders of E3 the revolution had 4 GC controller ports at the back, these are by far the most comfy controllers I have used, and are easy to use on all previous Nintendo, maybe least so the n64, but NES (and no doubt SNES) games are easy to play on Animal Crossing. There are enough buttons for the n64, so if they ARE GC controller ports I saw, it'd be an easy solution to using older games on the Rev.

I found it really fun, didn't ring HL2 or CS to me, only at the begining when I was trying to figure out what to do and I heard the vox woman talk. I thought the cyber punk bit was cool, with someone jacked in they were able to speed the teams progression up a lot, opening doors that were otherwise locked etc. It was nice to play something different in the sense that its not a "war" game, personally war games have become like RPGs and too "main stream" as it were, too much of the same thing about. Dystopia was a fresh break from this, and it was a laugh

If the letters arn't being taken out, make some more headers using the UV of the bottom of the letters so that you can vary them more, that will give you 4 different letters rather than 2

I think its too close a hue to the rest of the texture, its very orangey. Also it looks like pudding as there are no 'breaks' in the rock structure, it just folds over other areas, giving the sludgey or chocolate pudding effect Loving it so far btw
