Haha you must be new here. I'm the most un-positive person on here. You gotta come at it with big dick energy.
It sounds to me as though you're shooting yourself down before you've even left the runway.

It's integrated into the design and maybe I didn't think about it as much in 2016 since the game wasn't as hectic, but something about an fps that disincentives you from shooting the shit out of enemies to completion is conterintuitive. Being in constant fear of missing a glory kill opportunity is kind of just fucking annoying. Nightmare exacerbates this since it's basically required to stay alive.

You should be able to uninstall glory kills.

Replaying a bit on Nightmare, I think glory kills were not a good idea. I am available for game design consulting DM me.

One of the greatest games designed and released for the PC which was a definitive icon of 00's PC gaming is now just a back seat, pre-rendered, content filler for a console that looks like dehumidifier.

Found a stash of old Insurgency mod screenshots! Lots of mapcorians worked on this (I can spot @Steppenwolf , @Erratic , @Pericolos0, @Evert, @Xanthi, @Jonny Phive... and I'm sure I'm missing some!)

I remember when in CS you had one player as a VIP and you would protect him while he tried to escape, was fun as hell. This looks dull as fuck.

This is a really disappointing sequel to 2016. It feels like they added in ALL of the stuff Doom 2016 did away with, for some reason? Because 'sequel'? I really loved Doom 2016 but this one is just a mess, in my opinion.

I do love the combat and glory kill stuff, but the sheer amount of upgrades, weapon mods, buttons to learn (I remap my keys in every game to use arrow keys.. Don't ask), things to juggle.. Plus they show every damn encounter on the map, so all sense of suspense is lost, and you know exactly when an arena battle is coming up. It's really weird. I think games are great when they try to mask the gaminess of what you're playing, but this one feels like a designer just splurged all over it and didn't tidy it up afterwards. Like, the bar in the top right. I think that shows you how many encounters you've done? Jesus, talk about removing any sense of suspense. Am I near the end of the level? Oh I'll just check my magic meter in the top right. Maybe I'm wrong there? Seems weird.

Also, the story, holy shit. Who gives a fuck? It's Doom. I know I'm gonna absolutely kick ass and destory everything I come across, so why are these demon masterminds acting like they've got the one up on me? They should be absolutely shit scared of me, not making speeches like they have the upper hand. Also, the cutscenes suck. Doomguy looks about 3 foot tall, he looks like an action figure lol. Put all the cutscenes completely in first person - put me in the action at all times.
I think I just beat the 4th level, the snowy one? But I'm putting the game down now, I have no interest in continuing. I played Doom 2016 continuously and beat it in like 2 days. So I'm not just shitting on the series - something just isn't quite right with this sequel.

Kingpin was the first game that didnt offer just the two basic multiplayer gamemodes back then - DeathMatch and Capture The Flag. Instead, it also offered Bagman mode.
If you dont know what this is, basically you collect weapons around the map to fight with like in deathmatch, but you also collect money from the middle of the map. Both teams have their own bases with a safe. For example in one of the maps, there's a pipe that spits money out time to time. I think it was 5$ each pile.  Then you collect the money from the ground, go to your base and gotta open a safe to deposit the money into.
The safe operates on a separate switch, so you gotta go to the switch and then to the safe to deposit. You also might want to close your safe from the same switch, because you know, you can also do this to the enemy - go to their base, use the switch and steal money from their safe. If you dont close the safe, it gets easier to steal the money. Alarm also went off if someone did a steal. I think the max mount was 150$ or 200$ that one person can carry, so you couldnt take them all, unless you did a raid with your friends. Also if you kill the money carrier, you can take their bag and return the money to your safe. So the team who had like 500-800$ first, won the game.
I played this gamemode a lot. Especially with todays capability of voice chats and such, it works even more better. You can tell someone to open that safe, instead of typing it down to chat fast. More of teamwork and more fun.
This game was also the first one of the multiplayer games i played on PC, and it infact got me started on running game servers, which eventually led me into level design. 🙂

    Hi all!
Here's a preview of DE_SUBZERO. The awesome Tanuki (creator of Seaside and Downtown) helped design the layout, and I created all the art. However, penE from DE_CACHE made the old-school crates as a cameo, I love that guy   Shout out to all the wonderful people who provided helpful feedback on the visuals and gameplay so far!

Gotta be one of the most exhausting first couple hours with a game I've had in awhile. Not sure how helpful it is to front load this much of your progression/mission/item menus/systems etc this early. I'm being bombarded with information and now idea as to how it applies to the actual core game. Survivors. Defenders. Schematics. Items from crates. No idea what any of it is for. This is sort of par for the course with F2P but this is some next level shit. Would probably be better off just letting me get into the game itself and not explain all these things that don't seem to have any application yet. Took me 4 missions to figure out there are no loadouts for weapons and you can just equip them during the game, which I remembered being taught to me early on but I forgot about by the time I trudged through the rest of the intro.
Just get people in the game. You got me doing homework before I get to have 2 minutes and 30 seconds of gameplay and then it's back to the menus marking off exclamation points for about the same amount of time.

lol you don't need to market Doom. You could put a picture of John Romero's anus on the box with the DooM title and it would sell. At least put some cool box art on there for us to go "Ooooh" over.
