  1. Well, DNF got released so BMS is next in line for "OMG ur dev time is so long wtfffff"
  2. I don't think the sticking-out-bricks look good. For me they just draw attention to the flatness of the rest of the wall. I think you'd need a much higher density of extruded bricks to make it look realistic/good. I vote to leave the wall flat!
  3. Woops, did a full history/cache/cookies clear and its fixed. Delete me :embarrassed:
  4. correct
  5. Anyone else getting this?? It only does this on one of my computers, all of which use chrome. Additionally, it only recently started doing this... I'm stumped. IETabs fixes it. Cleared cookies. Comp is a HP Elitebook 8740w... i5 with a ATI FirePro M7820 graphics card.

I understand a lot of people will be reluctant because they have invested so much time into their facebook profiles... but I truly relish the opportunity for a fresh start. Its so clean and uncluttered.
  7. They're all first in my eyes
  8. Did you mean to put them all as first place? Congrats to you all! They all look lovely. Wish I had a chance to play them.. but I am a busy busy boy.

    City Block

I don't think the fact that they're sticking out instead of inset helps the weird perspective. Makes them look wider since you can see the inside near corner and they block more of the building on the far edge. Inset them
  10. nice!

    Dishonored

I agree with the sentura-bot. Not knocking the game or anything, but that does sound like the same marketing bull for every stealth-ish game since the birth of the genre. I'll happily play it and enjoy it if they succeed! Just that statement sounds like generic stealth-game-marketing jargon.

Guess I'm just cynical about the interwebs. I guess I just doubt that google is going to go through the effort to rip off some photographer for the pittance (relative to google) that they could possible make through their photography. I think google is just covering their ass with this. If they do some advertising where they show someone's page or something, they can't get sued over it. I've never seen any pro photographer post high res, non-watermarked images on the internet. If you don't want it stolen, just don't make it available - I don't think this is anything new. That said, I think it is only a matter of time before google becomes evil. However, they've had the opportunity for years now to go that route and they haven't yet. I mean hell, they develop all these free products for the sole purpose of collecting user information. That is no secret. But so far they've just used that info to target advertising. I dunno, i'm just talking out of my ass. Ignore me!

If you really think a photo you took is good enough to be worth any substantial amount of money... why would you post it anywhere on the internet? I don't find that creepy or invasive or surprising in the least. It seems common sense to me.

Oh for sure, it has a traditional sensor, so I'm not sure how it does it. Just sayin that something attempting to achieve the same thing is out there, but obviously with its drawbacks. Interested to see this tech develop (and drop in price)!
  15. Nice architecture! Nah, I don't think it's too dark!

The sony nex-5 I have does something like this, although I'm not sure of the exact mechanism. Shutter time increases to almost a second in a normally-lit picture with the focusing maxed out. I hardly ever use it because the pictures don't look as nice(more artifacts) and its more difficult to take a picture without blurring from the camera moving, to the point where without a tripod or something stable to lean against it is useless. A picture with everything in-focus just looks weird, too. It does let you go in and add artificial DOF in photoshop or whatever, so you don't have to worry about messing up the focus when you take a shot. I think this would be very cool if it just did a narrow range around where you set it. I've taken many pictures that looked in focus when I took them but were just a hair off when I saw them on the computer, and subsequently got trashed. If I could just bump the focus a bit one way or the other after taking the pic, that'd be great. That'd actually be a really cool feature for a camera with a traditional sensor - when you hit the trigger it rattles off like 10 shots, incrementing the focus just a hair between shots.
  17. Is that a healthbar I see? yay! Looks awesome peris. Can't wait to try it

formal request for this thread to be moved to the classics when it has run its course great post rick. I like Sentura's rantings. they always contain little nuggets of truth, even if they're blown way out of proportion sometimes
  19. All I said is the first three playthrus of HL1 would be better, but fourth and up, BM:S might be better I prefer the black mesa portion of the game. Xen was interesting, but it wasn't as fun. Honestly I usually stop short of the ending when I play it nowadays. Usually go thru a few stages of xen and lose interest. That platforming section with the flying manta ray things and launcher tube things, floating islands, etc.. sorry but I find that part just tedious and frustrating. I enjoy the battle with the big momma crab, that is one of the most memorable Xen section for me. But from flying mantas to the factory to nihilanth.. I just don't find to hold much replay value.
  20. No, but it may be better than the 4th playthru of HL!
  21. bravo seir, you found the perfect mix there between your warm and cold lighting schemes!
  22. nah, just a nerd pretending to be a hipster
