mm. it's worked out really well but i dislike it anyway. there are too much confusing thinks like concrete ceilings in damn old buildings, etc. call me fussy but it dosn't make sense ^^ otherwise really utish apart of the lighting one of the shops is called "erotische schafe" - erotic cheeps. not too funny :-? somewhere in the map you can see a 'flying' misplaced brush near some roof corner. that's silly mistake and certainly infuriating for the autor ^^

really original and looking very good so far. i like it what about some leaf antlers or so? a hole in the trunk could be funny. because this guy is looking little like a wimp so he can draw his head inside like a turtle ^^

it looks great. the different light colors and textures are in perfect harmony. i especally like the floor on http://img142.exs.cx/img142/2337/scorpius10ok.jpg. easy to be done but just cool looking. i love your red pointlights. how long have you shifted the rgb sliders to get a color like that? looks like neon, really cool. but this color is so much exceeding in contrast to the other lights that i would expect more freaky lights like local green spots for example. it's a bit breaking the ranks but still cool! the brushwork looks harmonious on all shots. the only things i dislike are the windowtextur and these bridges with this truss texture. they don't fit into the map. i will download it later. thank you for just a great map but you havn't submitted this one to the contest, right? *phew*

so why do you think is the pubs name written in german? but agree @trees. it's no big deal to make them look greener @mikezilla: so do you think these guys will like you any longer after doing this post? :wink:

wow really good work. but it isn't looking like a german village how it shall look like - this 'drunken dragon' sign is written in german. although it's looking really nice but i don't like this perfect look wich you can see in much other hl1 custom maps. every building got the same style and textures, every floor got the same height, etc. a village with buildings wich are 300+ years old doesn't look this perfect. beams and roofs will bend and repairs will be done on different parts wich will make a building look more individual. this is more looking like a new village what shall look like a old village. it's like a theme park or a engineering drawing. i also dislike the high saturation of the sunshades and little flags. the back light is to bluish, too i think you can make more real environments in source. needless to say that this takes more time. so someone got money for this cz map shown above? frightening imagination

i think i will wait until the contest is over. there are also some things i have to do like some areas wich doesn't look like i want to see them, etc. but you never know :roll:. probably i will find some time during the next weekend to finish it.

Thats not the matter. If it isn't legal to enter with this and Valve doesn't recognize I will get in trouble because Monolith (developer of blood) got the copyright. I've just left the lead level designer of blood a mail. i hope he will agree with this but i think he can't. i don't know :-?

I only found this one here but it says nothing: source: http://www.nolo.com/lawcenter @kleinluka: sorry for that, i don't wanted to be rude. especially not to you. i don't know if you know where i'am from. it's linga from thewall.de ^^ the problem isn't that i won't accept your idea of copyrights. i share it. but in this case the law isn't that clear and i tought this will never be a problem. i saw it from an other direction. i havn't tought about selling this map as a product with giving it to a contest where you probably can win money for your work. my mistake. shame on me. but i think the main question atm is: is my interpretation of this blood map a 'bad' copy or not and will i get disqualified from the contest or not. i'm thinking about asking the autor of the original map for his approval as a last chance but i don't know where to find this guy =P

they released deathmatch classic =P i don't want to argue with you guys but this brings me down really. i'm thinking about contacting the blood devs but i think thats really senseless and insane

yes. but i can't see any problem with that regarding this contest and its rules. btw@ kleinluka concerning your post and person: if this would be true it would be also illegal to take a picture from a building and making a original texture out of it because you aren't the architect of the building, etc. i would like to hear some opinions from guys wich know what they are talking about in this situation.

@kleinluka: you really should know that you don't violate any law or copyright doing a remake of another map. this contest entry is original like every 'california' song out there is. it's not even a interpretation because it is absolutely different from the build engine map. there are other rooms, floors, 3x larger, items, etc. i don't violate any law or written rule announced by valve as far as i know. and for you guys who never heard about blood. check this screen and compare it with my work.

I've already sent it and paid much money and i will go absolutely crazy if this is true. but there is nothing about that in the rules so i think it must be okay. however my heart just stopped beating and i feel very very bad about that!

damn are you serious? there was nothing like this in the rules. i can't belive this! come on - i've worked weeks to realize this and forgot about _all_ other things and now doug lombardi is comig up with this? omg i really can't imagine this! all these ours i've spent for nothing? it wouldn't be a problem for me to do something own but i know it's legal to make remakes and so i tought there wouldn't be a problem! i can't believe it

@RD: fences were the best choice to seperate the accessable areas from the background. you cant get behind these fences and there must be something like a visual barricade to let the player know, that he can't get behind this line. there are playerclip brushes to ensure the 'flow' while moving around. @d3: sorry i tought he ment a different thread coming up with some doom 3 level :roll: remakes shouldn't be a problem. it's like a old sog mixed up little different and reselled by another song writer for example.

finally i found someone from la who will send my cd to bellvue today. he's a friend of mine and it's great to hear from him again this way. thanks a lot! i'm wondering wich d3 post you'r talking about @OL. Thats my first post on this board ever and i've never worked on d3 so far. Could be my bad english, too but i think i've understood what you ment the right way? ^^ thanks for your comments! Later this year i will try to make something different from the c17 style with a real concept without having that pressure and of course i gonna do a concept first to avoid some mistakes i did with dm_resistance!

hey guys, after some weeks of idling trough this board i finally registered my account today to show you my hl2 dm contest entry wich i've finished just yesterday. it seems like the contest board haven't got this much attention yet so i do it like 3dmike i've worked all over xmas to finish this ~6 p blood-remake and it's nearly finished. some bugs and detail less areas left but today i had to send it away to WA. it's already leading to the united states (i'm from germany) but the post officer couldn't ensure that it arrives in time. this really scares me! i tought a express mail leading to the usa will arrive in something like ~2 days :evil: not to mention that the us customs could check my CD so i'm really angry right now and i'm looking for a guy near washington/bellvue who could burn my map to a cd and send it away to valve tomorrow to ensure the arrival in time. this would be great because i worked so hard and i will go crazy if my entry misses the deadline! if somebody could help me you can left me a mail to info@makinggames.net. this would be absolutely great! but now i will stop complaining and show you some stuff first! i hope you will like it. c/c welcome! PS: a last question: i'm not sure if i may release a beta of this map to the public until valve announces the winner of the contest - may i ?!
