  1. i have build cubemaps yesterday in my map and they look all normal
  2. The comments in[] are by me. "I'm a big fan of the mod community[ROFL], so we tried to make COD as accessible to modding as possible[Thats a LIE!] - but the modders just weren't there[a punch in the balls for everyone who has tried to mod this game and made it more enjoyable. actualy cod 1 had a large modding community - not a huge one as hl but a large one definately]. They were doing all kinds of mods for Allied Assault, but for Call Of Duty it wasn't anywhere near the same level. And we made the game much easier to mod than Allied Assault... In AA, there was nothing - you had to hack the executable to make a mod []. So if I could go back and have time to work on the game more, I'd spend it making the game more accessible to the modding masses, with more robust tools [This describes why has cod2 has even worse mod suppoprt then cod 1 and no sdk yet a few months after release...]" Here you can read how much this upseted the cod modding community: http://www.iwnation.com/Forums/index.php?showtopic=17426 (notice:this is their official forum. They are so much involved in community support that they dont even read their own forums and care if people write things that are against their product. The player strike from last month was organized in their own forums and they havent even noticed or tried to delete these threads. Even their forum moderators have come to the point that they write negative about IW and cod2 in many postst and nobody at IW or activision cares about it!)
  3. place a info_lighting in a dark shadowed place of your map and give it a name. then go to the prop properties and choose this info_lighting as lighting origin. This should help. edit: ah forget what i have written. havent read your complete text under the picture Must be a bug then. I have a different annoying bug btw in my maps. Everytime i have compiled my map new and run buildcubemaps everything looks ok. the next time i open the map then the lighting of the first person hands and weapon is fucked up (much too dark)
  4. Difference may be that Insurgency content is all produced for free (except the motion capturing). You dont know the budget of Sin Episodes. As a company they must pay for every little piece of art. This can be expensive for a small company with the grade of detail that modern games have.
  5. I dont blame the guys who work there. Decissions about mod and community support are made by the boss or the publisher. CoD 2 has the worst community support that i have ever seen on a top title. Its even worse then on some EA titles from the last few years. They just completely ignore their fans, never answer questions or care about the communitys opinions. And its not only that. Also their boss has talked huge bullshit about the modding community and pissed everybody off who has modded or mapped for cod 1.
  6. Cod 2 was the last game from IW that i have bought. I'm so disappointed by the half assed multiplayer and the non existant customer/mod support by them. The cod community was even on strike last month because IW just ignores its customers. It didn't helped tho to change their attitude.
  7. How come the guy has three hands in first peason view? Sometimes hes holding the gun with two hands and his second left hand makes other stuff The game looks imo like hl2 produced in a parallel universe. Excellent quality for a mod but for a new game it looks too similar to hl2 for my taste.
  8. there is so much more
  9. yea it has to do with the lightmapgrids. i havent played around much with it yet but i believe that when the edge of the lightmap is directly on the edge of the brush the smooting doesnt work
  10. congratulation!
  11. I doubt that you both exist in reality. That pic must be fake like the whole intraweb.
  12. It looks nice. But i dont like the lighting/colors. There is so much greytones in the light. It needs some warm yellowish shining highlights.
  13. It's somehow sad and illogical that people from two economicaly so close connected first world countrys can't work in the other country without huge problems. I'm not a poor third world guy who thinks the USA is heaven on earth and wants to hang around on the streets or in a gang and annoying the natives (i mean american citizens, not the indians) Hell, if i wanted a "easy life", social safety, healthcare etc. i would want to stay here because thats much easier in germany to get for a poor person.
  14. I wouldn't call it "professional" but we are bunch of talented amateurs and some industry pros. We have experience in modding and know what it means to bring a mod to release. We don't draw concepts for every little prop model or something like that, if thats your definition of professionalism. We have some rules that a member must follow and we have departments with department leaders for a better organization. The individual still has more freedom then in a games company. Our mappers can make their own decissions about layout and look of their maps. Our team is more like a family then a games company. Sometimes we have conflicts, but thats normal in a big family and we know how to manage problems. The most times we are friends with the same interests and targets. I love our team. Working on ins made me a lot of fun yet.
  15. I'm glad that not only retards have something to say in the US of A.
  16. Just for the information. Is anyone here from the mappers interested in joining Insurgency? Many mapcorians are INS members but many are not. I know that other talented mapcorians work for other mods or in the industry but maybe i have missed a talent, who knows. It's against my ethics to go to people from other mods and try to hire them. But if someone is interested in joining us he should pm me and link me to his portfolio or work examples.
  17. no wooden shoes?
  18. I'm about to find out if they have experience with visa stuff and supporting industry noobs (haven't worked yet in the games industry and a foreign country). I don't have much hope tho that i would get a visa. I have informed myself about that some time ago when i applied for a different company and it didn't looked good. I just thought that maybe someone here knows a way that could work, that i haven't read about.
  19. I got a job offer from a acknowledged american games company as Level Designer. But honestly i doubt that i would get a work visa for the USA if i say yes. I don't have a university degree or something. I'm 27 now. Has anyone experience with that? Are there ways this could work?
  20. I use colgate.
  21. Good luck! They make a big failure if they dont hire you
  22. Nobody else likes Powdered Toast Man?
  23. Nice models
  24. Sigmund Jähn The first german in space. I visited his place of birth and museum once when i was a child.
  25. The name IDF is confusing. In the first moment i always think this mod is about the Israeli Defense Forces.
