  1. Gotta watch the leaked episodes before spoilers and memes are all over my FB.
  2. I have preordered this. The trailer and discount on steam convinced me. I so hope i can get into this unlike the first two. I will give Witcher 2 another chance beforehand in preparation after i had my GTA V PC fix.
  3. Steppenwolf

    GTA V

I remember when i played GTAV on PS3 long time ago. Was a good game.
  4. You can also make the game a bit harder by setting some different objectives for yourself. For instance my first city that i posted in this thread. I also started a new map yesterday with the 25 tiles mod and all milestones unlocked (necessary so you have enough starting capital to buy all the tiles). My goal is to to make many small villages and towns apart from each other instead of one big city and that is a bit of a challenge because you need to spent more on infrastructure per citizen.
  5. I saw the trailer today and read the pdf brochure from the guy behind it. Most pretentious shit i've came across in recent times. Made me cringe so hard to read this.
  6. I looked into making custom buildings. It's pretty straight forward. Don't have much time/motivation for it right now tho. Confident we will see some awesome stuff in the future. Really impressed with the mods so far. The game is out for only two weeks and thers already mods that add whole new tools that make the game better.
  7. This is awesome. Someone used a huge dam and water pumps for terraforming. https://imgur.com/a/rB1wU
  8. So last night i made a small but costly mistake. In my city i had an industrial area on a hill over the city. This causes some issues with the sewage system polluting the cities fresh water. So i created a seperate pipe circulation system. Then by accident i connected both systems without realising it immediately. 7000 people died on the spot after ingesting the poisonous industrial waste. A couple thousand more succumbed to sickness in the weeks after followed by a general flight thanks to crumbling infrastructure and services. Within two months the city lost half of its nearly 40k population. The city looked worse then Detroit at this point but wasn't lost. Thanks to heavy residential tax cuts it was soon back on its feed. It only cost around 2.5m$ (almost all savings + missed tax income).
  9. Building a dam down the river wasn't the best idea.
  10. I actualy got an achievement for being a most unpopular mayor. I started to build a serious city last night tho. I can really recommend the game if you liked Sim City when it was still good. This game feels very similar but what i like most are the road tools because you can make cities that have a very natural looking layout. The modding scene also seems to become strong but i haven't even dived into this yet.
  11. This game is fun. It's like classic Sim City but with awesome road tools. I tried building a town to be as shitty and unpleasant as possible but still have growth last night. Only used dirt roads. Crime soon hit 45%. Things started to get interesting when i got close to 5000 population. Thanks to having landfills and industry in the center of town and no clinics a public health crisis happend. I lost 2000 people rapidly with their corpses rotting in the streets. Even after building 3 hospitals i had over 2000 sick people and only 300 hospital beds. Thanks to drastic budget cuts and tax raises i managed to turn still a profit. There was dead, decay, fire and crime everywhere. It was like managing an African town during Ebola outbreak. Eventualy i cashed out with over 130k $ in the bank and almost all citizens dead.
  12. It's not completely my own thoughts. Kind of a summary of what i read in a blog post. But it's true. Imo for AAA it will be important that the games give the players a better bang for the buck feel again. The DLC policies really start to hurt. I have nothing against DLC when it's a surprise and comes as an addition for when you've finished the game but right now with day one DLC's, season passes, microtransactions it feels more and more like puzzle pieces that need to be purchased in order to get the full game. That's obscene given that you already paid 60-70 bucks for the "full game". The Order suffers from a different problem aswell that it tries to be a cinematic experience. But why does a few hours of cinematic experience on PS4 cost 3-4 times as much as a newly released movie on bluray? That's difficult to convey to the customer and the backlash is justified in that regard. Of course it's different in that games don't make money on the box office but when you can't compete with similar price for similar entainment value then perhaps it was a bad idea to begin with from an economic point of view.
  13. I like it more and more with every episode. Had to get used to the slower pace first but the quirky characters are great. It starts to stand on its own legs.
  14. Steppenwolf

    GTA V

  15. The Order and to some extend Evolve also are the sacrificial lambs for all the AAA disappointments that happend in recent times and the loss of influence that review scores and metacritc has over players. It sucks for them but i welcome that reviewers try to bring their scores more in line with player opinion. I hope it stays that way and helps to counter some of the trends in AAA. We have now crossed a line where big budget and hype alone are not enough anymore for games to receive 9's and 10's by default. That's a good thing.
  16. We don't live in the future yet. For current gen weapons and objects with baked normals it's best to exaggerate edges so you get info on your normal map in the first place (instead of just a hard edge) and the other reason that the edges maintain a highlight on lower mip levels (instead of getting lost in sub pixels).
  17. You could just as well flush your money down the toilet (which sounds more fun too).
  18. Black Mirror was great. Thanks for the tip!
  19. I made a short flythrough video over the weekend. Hope you like it. https://vimeo.com/117130801
  20. I like Sopranos better then The Wire. Both are excellent tho.
  21. Yea it's a shame that the gameplay isn't on par with the visuals. Same old Ubi grind fest. I don't get it how they can put so much love in the visual details but all they can come up with for gameplay is collect 100 of this, 50 of that, go from A to B to kill random NPC, same 3 random encounters over and over etc. Donj't even understand why you have to buy weapons and clothing from the menu when there is a beautiful and richely crafted game world out there with shop fronts all over the place. I still enjoyed it quite a bit for the exploration of the city but there isn't enough immersion and variation in the gameplay that makes me want to buy the next game in the series at full price.
  22. You watched the 293 minutes long version? I never watched that afaik.
  23. Been playing a bit of Assassins Creed: Unity recently. Got it for free with my new gfx card. Words can't describe how awesome the art is in this game. Hands down together with Alien: Isolation the most inspiring game for an artist right now. Also runs surprisingly well considering the bad things i heard about it. The worst bugs seems to be fixed. Crashed only once on me and haven't seen any game breaking bugs otherwise.
  24. I hate this game. Because i want to look at it and study it in peace but it's so scary
  25. Oh my. I hope it's your screen that's too dark and not mine that's too bright edit: can you check the pictures out in full resolution and fullscreen (F11) and tell me if it's still too dark for you? The preview thumbnails really look quite dark in the browser due to the white background contrast even on my screen.
