I am playing the beta with my friend, who bought me a fileplanet account just so I could play with him. It's pretty fun.

Thanks for the link! I will see what I can do with them.

So... No ideas? I just got The Softimage Mod Tool installed, with the Half-Life 2 plugin, so I guess I should just be looking around for Softimage tutorials, right?

I like it very much. The map and the concept.

I'm not looking to make models, I'm looking to animate them. I'll have access to several models from a friend of mine who knows how to model. Needless to say, it's the Pokemod. I've heard (and logic would assume) that mechanical animations are much simpler than natural/lifelike animations, but I just thought I'd show you what my goal was.

I've been mapping for a few years now, but I've never really released anything worthy of praise. I make maps mostly for fun, and to entertain myself and friends. I recently decided for various reasons that mapping just isn't for me. More of a hobby then something I could look to as a career. I then got to thinking what else I could do, in terms of mod-work (specifically Half-Life 2). I can't draw worth crap, so no 2D art. I can't map. I haven't done anything relating to music ever. I've never tried modelling or animating. I do know some C++, Java, and VB. Although I realize that C++ is pretty much the most useful of the three. I've thought about going into coding, however I don't know if it's for me, way too much math involved, and I hate math (although I'm fairly good at it). So here I sit. Thinking I want to get into modelling or animating. I've kinda decided in my mind that I'd like to try out animating, but I have no clue where to start. I've come here to seek your professional advice on how I can get cracking at animating to see if it's "my thing." I probably need to know what applications I'll be needing (XSI is used for HL2 animating, correct?) and if there are any good sites that would be a good resource to me in my learning. Let me know if this is posted in the wrong place, modelling seemed like the closest thing to me. :-?

I have it uploaded, in its 30 meg form. Lacking the radio stations (little under 300 megs of .wav's) and the intro movie. PM me if you're interested in the link.

I'm on 7.6.86, so I have a year on you

Videogames would get primetime commercials!

Something that everyone should know. Infact, it should be included in small text at the startup of Hammer, right below their logo.

I DID NOT MAKE THIS, I SAW IT ON A NEWS POST ON HALFLIFE2.NET Here is the description that came with it:

She has green lips?

Naw, I've had run-ins with several of you in the past, CounterMap forums, The Specialists Forums, and you once joined my server when I was playing Rambohulk. You came in and were like "Yeah, I made this map." and I was like

I didn't (still don't, honestly) feel comfortable posting, because the boards were so full of Industry pros and a bunch of smileys with tilde's... I'm starting to post a little more, but it's almost an intimidation thing. Maybe it's just me.

U.S. Score: 84% Avg. Error: 65 Miles Time: 283s. I kept messing up the east coast like crazy... So many tiny states.

Outdoor terrain needs variance. There was more variance in the HL1 version. Looks like someone is afraid of displacements.
-
Look at the concept... It is tacked on.

This map looks awesome. Only thing my brain can't figure out is how you've managed to bring such different themes together... I guess I'll just have to wait and see...

Isn't it possible to have clouds, with some sort of fog entity? It'd be pretty cool if you looked over the edge and there was just a bunch of clouds. If you fell off, you could just have them die in the middle of the fog. No?

I used to post at HL2World, but I stopped, because it's full of immature U.S. teenagers. I being an immature U.S. teenager realized this, and left.

It ends on the 15th of this month.

The map looks very well done, however it looks like it could've benefitted from some higher res textures. Looks great though.
