  1. this demo was a good, fun, decent, solid game. The art ain't inspired but it's sharp and clear, renders nicely in HD. The visual tech is a good step up from GTA. Biggest gripe was the car camera being unresponsive when I'm trying to back up out of a sticky spot, or get going again after backing out. character creation was really solid and good fun, gta has needed this for awhile. plus MULTIPLAYER come on guys
  2. heh, I joined the kill.switch team when they were making the next game using the cover mechanic. A couple of the guys have told me that Gears is pretty much the game they *wanted* k.s to be. tech, budget, and time do wonders for presentation bring on GoW.
  3. beating new smb is easy, getting every star coin is a bitch :] not much time for playing lately but i've been keeping up with the xblm demos, finished prey recently, three-starred new smb. playing brain age daily, picking up dead rising tomorrow. wanted to do the dark messiah demo tonight but there's no time to dl it
  4. I don't think it will get old too quickly. The missions will give it structure, there are boss fights and many, many unique events. There seems to be quite a lot more depth than you might expect, with the stat building, learning new stuff at the book stores--photography, skateboard tricks, wrestling(!)... notice you can collect ingredients and mix your own smoothies at the drink bar, that give you different abilities? There's sure to be a ton of that kind of stuff.
  5. much better but you could go a little crazier with the lighting in there... i know the ambient has to be high for the rest of the map, it's just kinda hurting this area
  6. By "real world use" I mean practical commercial applications. Occasional, incidental use by students, travelers, hobbyists doesn't count
  7. I would do something like ramps or steps between the low area and the walkways, so people don't get stuck down there in the heat of battle. That kind of thing is really frustrating. Awesome brushwork and detailing btw, just needs some more cover and visual filler at ground level.
  8. hah, cool. You need so much more contrast in the lighting for a club like that, the upper walls and ceiling should be pretty close to totally dark. As long as the floors are well lit, even if somebody stunts up there they'll still be lit as if they were standing on the floor.
  9. I play games on my DS more than anything else these days
  10. I picked up a frying pan, put it on the grill for a sec, walked over to a zombie and burned him in the face with it. Then I took a picture of what I just did. Tuesday can't come soon enough.
  11. Really fascinating stuff. I don't see much real world practical use for it beyond idle diversion, but that is a really, really interesting project. I'm glad people are putting computers and the wealth of distributed data on the internet to use with such noble intentions.
  12. Sorry dude. When the games were taking the awesome illicit stuff from real life (carjacking, extortion, murder) and making it the bread and butter of the game, that was fun. Taking the boring mundane shit and making it the game is boring and mundane. The most fun thing to ride in that game is a bicycle. I don't want to have to stop at the pizza hut and eat. I don't want to have to work a job in a fucking game. Worst design shift ever.
  13. San Andreas is a boring game that looks ugly. Tamagotchi gangster bullshit
  14. good god yes grats dude i am proud. my first interview was flat out hellish. nonetheless come on dude are you not with the program
  15. Nice.. i'm just getting into climbing, been going to indoor gyms a couple times a week for a couple/few months. really digging it
  16. Factor 5 (USA) gin
  17. I thought it was a good solid game, I like the oldschool flavor with a couple twists of lemon. Spent about 10 hours on it I guess. Better than a lot of high profile games that get pushed out the door. I did enjoy the flight levels, I appreciate a flight vehicle that just does what I want it to do and goes where I tell it to. Felt better than navigating in maya ;P oh yeah and ROCK ON Art Bell
  18. If shooters didn't evoke something very real in people, do you think we would find them so compelling? I for one hope there are programs like this on television when I have children so I never have to discuss sex with them myself /dies
  19. I really, really enjoyed the demo. Way up on my list of 360 titles. I found the controls quite comfortable, the look and feel are really spot on IMO. It really just felt quite well polished and tuned. I was impressed how long the demo was too, Capcom put a fairly generous amount of content out there.
  20. chucks are making you flat footed, get some insoles ;p
  21. yeah it's just the suit, not venom - unless they're not showing the whole deal in the trailer. But why would they go straight for Venom when they can milk it for another full length feature? I'm pretty lukewarm about the spiderman movies tbh.
  22. welcome to the DS party guys Pick up New Super Mario as soon as you can, it's really, really spanking good. recommended games: New Super Mario Bros - i can't put this one down right now Mario Kart of course TETRIS - 10 man multi ffs, I'll take you all down Brain Age (seriously, a game that makes you want to be smart) Big Brain Academy Advance Wars: Dual Strike Bust-A-Move - slingshot control makes this the best version yet Metroid Prime Hunters - a really decent FPS, remarkably Kirby Canvas Curse - a platformer controlled completely with the stylus, excellent use of the tech Tony Hawk there's plenty more, these are just the best of what i own so far.
  23. Dude I remember that map.
  24. that's good mino but it doesn't offset the blegh of the rest of it
