the size of the tape-bay looks like it's meant for VHS tapes but it says DVD on it?

the metal texture is kind of muddy and a bit too render-cloudy, ya know? the torn note repeats very aggressively.

Yeah, it's real. But the AP has consistently labeled *anyone* taking stuff from stores as looters, to me it seems the AFP are automatically forgiving the whites and therefore more biased. some commentary: http://www.boingboing.net/2005/08/30/bl ... ot_wh.html

cool look but i'm curious how those elbows would work... i think it could use some sort of hydraulic actuators: look at the complexity of all that mechanical 'stuff' that actually moves the arm around. even the striders had a little more meaty stuff going on at the joints that at least gave the impression of more mechanics.

You will play this HL2 single-player expansion.

Pretty good I thought. Again, the text was a poor device, or at least it could have been better implemented. I missed one or two of them because I was busy with enemies, they should have been on-screen longer and there was no way to go back and review. I liked the outdoors of the island much more than the interior. Which gives me much less to look forward to if the next chapter is also indoors. We'll see though. -
it's no big deal, it's just another "like i said before...". which if it's obvious the guy didn't read the whole thread it's kind of a chastisement of the commentator more than anything else, and that is fair enough. some people can't take criticism but that's their own problem. hessi's clearly not one of them

that's actually really cool. man i should pick up a copy.

probably an automatic hold on the account for unusual activity, i'd be surprised if paypal is deliberately snubbing SA.

heh, i find that hard to believe tbph. but hey i don't know. who did they base the gman on anyway

I wouldn't worry about the quantity of the content so much as the quality, which you're doing pretty well at IMO. Get a little more in there and you'll be fine. Check all the links again because I got one 404 (http://www.zfight.com/portfolio/images/pn24_large.jpg) and a couple of the tex thumbs aren't linked. I don't think the wireframe shot is of any use TBH.

Isn't it "Woodland" Hills, as in the town in the valley?

Finding a mod team worth your while 101
ginsengavenger replied to marque_pierre's topic in Non-Professional Recruitment
That point can be argued... considering the time and effort that a modern total conversion demands, how can you possibly coordinate enough people without running the organization "like a company"? I think that mismanagement spells the death of most failed mods. -
i rather prefer to correct barrel distortion at the source PanoTools is good versatile freeware with PS filter functionality. it's pretty dense to get started with but works wonders.

Heh. this is the map in question: Of course it's terrible to have your stuff ripped (I have) but it's not like he's going to build a career on something like this. You're getting at the deeper issue of IP theft though, which is impossible to prevent - I figure, once you release something and it's out there, there is *nothing* you can do to control its dissemination and the best you can hope for is that your credits will remain intact or that a few courteous emails will fix the problem. Of course that doesn't always happen, but hey. It's just the internet. Take it with a grain of salt.

what are your light_env settings and setup.

er, well all you've got there is a small space populated with a few brushes and some HL2 props. you haven't even finished the area, the edges just end with sky. what kind of feedback can you expect? what you have is decent enough, but you have to develop it a lot more before you can expect any real input.

I think I hate Lightwave ;D I had to work in it a year and some ago. Haven't caught up with the updates since then but I just really didn't like it at the time. The modeler always just felt like an overblown Milkshape. You could get work done in it but everything was a pain in the ass. It seemed kind of thrown together over the years without a coherent sense of design. Layout was decent enough for animation but again, didn't feel very coherent. The keyboard shortcuts were a nightmare - for cryin out loud, *undo* wasn't even ctrl+z. It just seemed like such a ghetto program. Anyway, what Mino said ^^

looks good, and well thought out in that things are arranged in a way that makes real-world sense. a few things about the screens that bug me a bit, the skybox as Defrag said; the texture mismatch on the right side of the road in pic 1; vent tex seems upside-down in pic 4 so the vents look inverted; the broken garage door in pic 3 is just totally improbable; some repetetive textures. those are just a few things that stand out right away and they're pretty minor but this kind of stuff does make a difference to my eye. one thing that bugs me about several assault remakes in a gameplay sense is the railing along the walkway in pic 4; i really prefer being able to drop straight down off the ledge without having to jump over a railing, particularly as it makes it easier to bring hostages down quickly.

mmmm better.
