  6. When the SDK was initially released I seem to recall reading about distributed compiling being supported by Valve's tools. I haven't looked into it or tried setting it up but I believe the functionality is there already (clearly Valve is already using it ).

  10. couldn't you just take them off the wall and put them somewhere with good lighting if you're taking pictures? better yet, scan them if they aren't too big?
  11. You have a neat way of exaggerating proportions. It works really well sometimes, others less so. You definitely have trouble framing your photos though ;P

  18. A 60 who has all his epic shit will have a huge headstart toward 70 over a new 60 who has very little. That's your reward for having spent so much time grinding the instances. So use it to your advantage, if you're quick enough to 70 most of the issues you outlined are unimportant. And once you hit 70 you can go back to grinding instances. Are you really complaining that they're offering you *more* to do in that godforsaken game?
  19. most players never see a game's ending. so it's not a big priority from a developer's standpoint. hard but true

  21. could just make the pimp account "Mapcore" and drop the .net... that avoids the potential dot problem and makes it less obvious that it's an address.
  22. heh... i try not to link to or even mention mapcore over there, you think i want to be blamed if this place is inundated with nubs? i'll have a more erudite and topical reply when i'm less durnk *ed: essentially I think the barrier to entry is too high, the learning curve is too steep, the documentation is basically vapor, the custom content pipeline is fucking ridiculous and all in all there are better games to mod for. The mod scene carried HL1. It can't and won't carry HL2. Valve have shot themselves in the foot by doing so little to make it easy for us--just look how many of our veteran, prolific HL1 mappers have even released custom maps. It's just too much of a pain in the ass.
