Buster Keaton's The General Fritz Lang's Metropolis the Cowboy Bebop movie. When I start buying DVDs I'm starting with Kurosawa, Kubrick, Jeunet and the Shinobi No Mono movies.

Who's going to post that though? I think the heated conversation is over

Speaking as a native Californian who spent a few years in the northern midwest I was was going to post a "gawd I'm glad I moved back from the snow" reply but your pics really show off the quiet, unassuming, contemplative side of Winter, something I actually quite liked. Well shot. Less so the last shot, that one is slush and grit and road snow, subdivisions and two realty signs. It shows more of the daily toil where real life actually meets the weather and I'm a little less nostalgic there

Awesome, my own thread! Sorry again for derailing the last one Kosmo, I'm glad this was split off. I agree completely that this is no place for the AOL-speak. Typos and honest misspellings bug me but I tolerate them, especially considering English is not everyone's first language. But come on guys - make an effort. If you can't be bothered to preview and read back over your own post maybe you should think twice about making everybody else read it.

So whose spelling is that, then? I just wonder because people are making a big deal of it but properly it would be "misspelled" or "misspelt." Sorry 'bout the hijack.

Nice, you broke your own thread.

Bummer. He was one of the central icons of my most formative years and will be well remembered for many years to come. Looks like he's been in a lot of movies lately but nothing really high profile; I guess I always expected him to come back onto center stage someday as the total oldskool badass that he is (was). That's too bad because he deserved it like nobody else.

Do you live in California? Does 'otown' mean Oakland? Just curious. yep and yep

Heh, I'm with ya tequila Life is good. Two months ago I started at an awesome company on an incredible game. The work is challenging, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm making new friends and I'm really feeling productive and accepted. I have to commute but the time is reasonable and I drive against traffic. I'm still a bit stunned that I've managed to break into real gamedev jobs with no connections based on self-education and no college degree. I'm almost twenty five years old. I've been married a little over a year. In August we moved into a great apartment in a nice neighborhood. We're finally pretty well settled in and the place is feeling like home now. She is working at a job she is excited about, if not happy to go to every day. Both of our cars are in excellent working order and I shop at Trader Joe's. We live near one of my brothers. My year-and-some-old nephew is asking for me by name. *edit: sorry i have to post a picture of my nephew. So, life is good. It has its ups and downs. Before this I was unemployed for almost a year living off my wife's job that she hated, we were spending way too much on rent, my car was broken, I had a serious WoW habit and both of my parents underwent major surgeries. Good times come and go.

speculation: "October 2006"? PS3?

Lose the borders and crap, they're irrelevant. anyway dude answer the questions about the actual gameplay Is this map actual scale? If so the rooms look really cramped and awkward to navigate in the middle of a firefight.

That is so ridiculous it is almost not even funny. I needed a good laugh.

Dude, no. It's a sophisticated means of programmatically building procedural trees with limitless variety. It will animate trees and can build shadow maps and LODs for you all the way down to rendering the tree at various angles to a set of billboards for accurate 2d representation at distance. And the point is, while it is powerful it is also fast and easy to use as a developer. Sorry for the hijack. I like your trees Farles.

Nice work. But I gotta say I'm glad that speedtree is the way of the future.

it was free.

soz to bump, but I finally have some time to play the game... Starting out I have a damn lot of respect for Monolith after the NOLF games so I'm curious to see how well they pull off a "scary" game... but mostly I'm just glad they haven't lost their sense of humor.
