  1. Same just happened with Concert and I assume Austria.
  2. Just something that seems somewhat common. Most maps tend to have a rush site and a more tactical site. And since corridors are good for hiding a teams advance, the rush site is generally more of an interior or enclosed site. On many maps it also happens to be the B site.
  3. Vote manipulation has been going on for a while now unfortunately, some of my maps were hit by it as well but lucky only small scale to knock me off the top spot. If you released at the same time as certain skin authors or other maps even, you could expect quite a few downs by them. But with these gambling sites now using the workshop as a means to spam their ads, you can expect a downvote from each of their bots which can result in downvotes in the hundreds. Doubt valve will do anything to address the issue as its pretty clear they don't hold the voting system in high regard. The workshop has been a mess for a long time now.
  4. Had a run around the map today. Very well done. Clipping could do with another pass, its quite easy to get caught on a lot of the smaller details Also, some areas for me feel far too colourful and saturated and don't seem to follow a consistent style. You have the quite pale sandstone and then some really in your face reds, blues and greens. Specifically in the room with all the different colour pipes, as well as these seat things. Some of the items in the gift shop are also quite bright and seem to go against the rest of the map. The stairs you have in the stone block interiors could also do with being reworked. They look quite weak compared to the rest of the map with terrible texture alignment.
  5. Can publish with my stuff no problem, I released it all so people can use them in their maps.
  6. I was very unsure about how good this season would be since they are no longer following the book. But I will echo @dux with Ho Lee Shet!

    EU Referendum

Wouldn't say the whole vote is about immigration, just that it was a key issue. During the Tories' 2010 campaign, one of Cameron's campaign pledges was to cut net migration to 100,000 a year by the end of his term. Which at the time was about half of the current net migration in the UK. A goal that because more obviously unachievable as the years passed and immigration numbers kept rising. It became clear that being part of the EU with its free movement, the government wouldn't be able to impose limits to migration. This of course highlighted to the more euro septic MP's that the UK has no control over its borders. So during the Tories' 2015 Campaign Cameron instead of fighting against numbers he said he would campaign for benefit reforms where people coming from the EU would have to work for 4 years before being qualified for certain benefits, some of which being free social housing and child tax credits, in the hope that net migration would fall. The EU outright rejected the idea just before the referendum. As a result it made Cameron look weak and powerless to make any decision on the subject, and fuelled the fire the anti EU supporters were burning. So its not as if this was some sudden decision. It has been an issue ever since Tony Blair was in power and part of the reason Labour lost the election was immigration. Its been a very hot topic for over 15 years and although change was attempted, it was rejected by the EU. Now like it or not, we live in a much more uncertain time. I would like to also point out that no one really gave the leave campaign a chance to win when the Tories made the referendum part of the campaign pledges. But a whole bunch of terrible circumstances and events seemed to suddenly appear that really galvanised the leave campaign and gave them so much ammo to fight with. One of the big ones being Cameron being given the shaft by Merkel. The EU is in no way blameless in this situation and could have stopped it had they wished.

    EU Referendum

Scotland was already looking at another referendum anyway, but Brexit has pushed it much higher on the agenda as many of the promises made by Cameron were on the condition that the UK stays in the EU. Scotland had a pretty good deal being in the EU (and the polls show the support). But not being attached to the rest of the UK I very much doubt a country with a 5 million population who have a GDP somewhere around the same as Portugal are in any position to make such similar demands to the EU. Also, I never can tell if tweets like @(HP) posted are just tongue in cheek comments or if they are serious. Immigration is a lot more than "dey stealin r jobs" and so much more to do with the UK not having the infrastructure to support such a rapid increase in population. The UK has some of the largest class sizes in the world and certainly the largest in the EU. There are a complete lack of any sort of affordable housing in the major cities and of course the strain on the NHS because for some reason (language barrier usually) immigrants will go to the emergency room instead of a local doctor to be treated. Then of course having to abide by the EU's quotas mean that many of the immigrants that the UK traditionally got from Commonwealth nations where there are many good English schools have to be rejected to keep numbers down. But of course we could just reject any rational discussion for why people might not like the current immigration policy and keep to the popular narrative of "damn kebabs stealing our jobs"

    EU Referendum

This, sadly, is one of the more unfortunate things about the whole campaign. Immigration was the key issue, especially with the recent so called immigration crisis. But it was hardly ever talked about because both sides of the argument had to avoid the topic as the moment immigration is mentioned, the left just shout "racists" or "bigots" repeatedly to drown out any discussion. So no true discussion on the topic was had and most people were left with information they read in outside sources (often either fear mongering or unrealistic idealism) or what they might see locally.

This gave me a good laugh

    EU Referendum

My comment about the arrogance was directed towards Angela Merkel and the rest who were against throwing Cameron a bone so he could go back and say "I have negotiated a good deal for the UK" even if in the end it resulted in nothing. They wanted to make a show of power by playing hard ball. And I am of the opposite view, in that it was the EU that bluffed and the UK called it. They tried to make a show of Cameron by rejecting anything he was fighting for on the assumption that the UK wouldn't leave. The UK people voted and now both the Pound and Euro has significantly dropped, calls for a referendum in many other EU nations and thoughts of a possible weak EU are driving people to doubt the whole thing.

    EU Referendum

The movie is Children of Men if i am not mistaken. Excellent movie. And the EU couldn't be nice to a country threatening to leave? When that country is the EU's second largest economy and an island nation that's always been quite euro sceptic it might be time to play nice and not push the swing voters over to the leave side. Now because of such arrogance the UK people voted to leave and we will all pay the price for it. Short term at least it will not be good for anyone and I wonder what will come of the other larger EU nations' calls for a referendum. Long term though I can see it being good for the UK, but disastrous for the EU since now they only have two economically strong nations and so many weak ones that need to be supported.

    EU Referendum

I think that's the attitude that ended up giving the leave campaign as much support as it had. Cameron was trying to negotiate a new deal for the UK but it was clear right from the start that he could get nothing out of all the negotiations. Couldn't even get enough of a deal that he could spin into a good thing. Made a lot of people realise that the EU does not have any consideration for the nations as individuals. Now because of this elitist attitude, there are calls for referendums in many other EU nations and it looks set that Scotland will leave the United Kingdom. Scotland wants to be part of the EU, but will there even be an EU left by the time it all comes to fruition? Troubling times ahead indeed but I think the vote highlights more than anything the huge divide within the United Kingdom right now when London votes remain but most of mainland England voted leave as well as all of Scotland voting remain.

    Civilization VI

I like the brighter, more colourful look. Much more readable in a game where graphics are not very relevant. My guess is they will also try to "streamline" the game to appeal to a broader audience and hope it doesn't end up resulting in a watered down version of 4 or 5.
  15. Excellent tool for getting your vmt's done quickly without having to search the wiki or though valves files for the correct parameters.
  16. Looking excellent. Are we going to see some moving trains or roller coaster carts?

    XCOM2

Been a little hesitant to get this right now as supposedly the performance issues are quite bad. Will definitely be picking it up once some of the early issues have been sorted out. Looking forward to trying to recreate my EW squad from my more recent play through. But a bit sad to hear that gene mods didn't make it into this version
  18. Bump maps with models are no different than world textures. All in the vmt and nothing to do with the 3d program. Also would like to point out here a program called crowbar. Doesn't seem very well known but is an excellent tool for compiling your .qc files and decompiling models http://steamcommunity.com/groups/CrowbarTool Also @NihiL is there a reason you called the file qscript.qc instead of corrosivebarrel.qc? Excellent tutorial though, this is probably the hardest part to do with source and there is so little up to date information about it and is good to see it put into a way that everyone can follow.
  19. Of course it can. There are plenty of real life clean environments out there. Shopping malls, offices, labs, gyms, hospitals, airports and even modern apartment complexes. Chances are good that if you can imagine it, there is reference for it. Although doesn't need to be taken whole as the questions I mentioned before apply to every environment. A super clean underground station functions roughly the same as a run down ghetto station or some ultra modern cancer research lab still functions somewhat the same as a makeshift CDC emergency tent. You just pick certain criteria to use as reference and ignore things that don't fit your needs.
  20. Technical knowledge and how to apply it at quite different things. Technically I know how to write a novel, but in reality I cant. This combined with where you say "developing aesthetics from scratch" could be harming your ability to develop. I can promise you that no one that has made an official or operation map for CSGO has "developed aesthetics from scratch". It all comes from using real world sources for inspiration or outright copying, and using your technical knowledge to make it all fit within a proper working and tested layout. Pretty much all the work i see in that gallery looks like its been purely off the top of your head, so in many aspects it falls short because a lot of it lacks the realism the human eye expects to see. Parts of the scene just reads as "wrong". Even when making crazy fantasy scenes like the majority of those images, there is more than enough real world reference to utilize. I don't want to pick on specific details on the images, but although its all quite fantasy, in essence what you have there is a cathedral, a medieval town an underground station. Simply googling any of those phrases will show a plethora of images ripe for being used as inspiration. And ask simple questions about each image. "what shows in this image that people live here?", "What is it that people do here?" and "how does this place function?". Asking simple questions like that will instantly give your cathedral an alter as people come to see some kind of sermon, will give pews for the people to sit on as well as lights so they can see. Keep following those lines of thought and before you know it, you have a perfectly fine looking environment that doesn't look "unflattering".

    Fallout 4

Been playing without using the pipboy fast travel, only vertibirds and lots of walking. The world is actually a lot smaller than I first realized, but because its not just endless waste between locations it feels a lot bigger. So many unmarked locations that are interesting or have small environmental story telling. You only plan to go round the corner for a quest, but end up spending hours in some underground car park that leads into the subway tunnels then who knows where after. End up further away from where you wanted to go than when you first started. So much to see that is somewhat hidden and probably wouldn't find if you heavily use fast travel. Also since I don't fast travel you come across more enemies so health and radiation is much more of a concern. No longer able to hoard 100 stimpacks and just spam them when needed. Now you have to care about sleeping or using radiated food/water to get health. And setting up settlements is more of a priority so you can have guard patrols while moving between locations, as well as more vendors to buy healing items and offload your junk. Then I got an explosive combat shotgun drop from a legendary super mutant and the game on survival instantly turned into easy mode. Each pellet explodes so anything that doesn't die in the first shot has most of their limbs crippled so cant really fight back anyway. Really is a god tier weapon.
  22. The map got eaten by a workshop bug, so I will have to reupload a new version soon. Just waiting on the new build I am working on before reuploading.
  23. Thanks for having me on board The way I read it, it would do the opposite. You say something in a thread and I click on your profile and am able to see topics you have chosen to spotlight which leads me to your thread.
