  1. hmm, indeed. Over 18s is a bit limiting though, there are quite a few people lurking about who are yet to reach that age. Sounds very nice. I dare say you're asking a little too much though, modelling, unwrapping and texturing is fair enough, but asking that same person to rig and animate seems a bit much. Creating a decent rig is an artform in itself and while setting up a few basic bones for a gun or something is simple enough, doing a full character rig is a bitch of a thing to do. Best of luck to you though.

  2. I like KF squirrels integrated idea, I've no problem with MAX, my issue is when I have to make a model to slot somewhere in the level, it's a bastard to try ang get the position and scaling of it correct and Hammers DXF export is so shitty that it's rarely on any use. Just a button that overlayed things in MAX so I could get the scale and positioning bang on the first time would be good.

  3. I survived on 1 or 2 hours sleep a night for about a week and did two days with no sleep at all. I felt shit by the end of that, really, really shit. Getting weird flickering at the edges of my vision and you the effect you get when you look at a really bright light, then close your eyes and you can still see the glow/shape of the filament? Had that but with my eyes wide open, I was getting these hazy impressions of text floating in my vision. Had a rest at the weekend and did about the same thing the next week That was for my final year project in Uni, which I hated. Did it in about three stress filled, caffeine fuelled weeks.

I've also pulled a few proper all nighters, once when I was trying to teach myself to texture weapon models in Photoshop, spent about 12 hours straight trying to do that, then stayed up the next day untill about 2am. I'd say I've managed something like 44 hours straight on occasion.

  4. Outdoors looks much, much better now, though I stille feel it could do with a a grassy texture instead of that one you're using now. Might just be me though. Shaping up very nicely indeed. Makes me wish I could map for HL2.

  5. Crytek sounds like a decen enough place to work from I've heard, can't imagine the language being a huge stumbling block to be perfectly honest, I imagine that with all the different nationalities of people they have there they're quite used to people running into the office and asking someone to translate that scary letter you just got from the bank.

  6. Yeah, the outdoors, while detalied, is a bit too monochromatic and drab looking. Perhaps you could make it a bit graasier and work in some other colours. Myabe some rusted yellow/blue metal and some redish texture on some of those buildings.

Otherwise superb, nice to see people starting to get to grips with HL2 and putting out some nice looking maps.

  7. I bunked off throughout school and Uni, have left with a degree of questionable value. Still unemployed, looking at doing tech support monkey work at the moment while I continue to work on mods and stuff in my spare time in an attempt to create a portfolio so I can get into the games industry.

  8. College?!

Been there, done that. Computer Science alike degree, been looking for work as some form of Techie, only really got into 3D stuff in my alst 2 years so I've not really had the time to get that good, what with everything else I've been doing.
