hmm, indeed. Over 18s is a bit limiting though, there are quite a few people lurking about who are yet to reach that age. Sounds very nice. I dare say you're asking a little too much though, modelling, unwrapping and texturing is fair enough, but asking that same person to rig and animate seems a bit much. Creating a decent rig is an artform in itself and while setting up a few basic bones for a gun or something is simple enough, doing a full character rig is a bitch of a thing to do. Best of luck to you though.

True, but games are expensive and EAs giganto cash-sack is a hard thing to resist. If theres anything major to be siad in Steams favour, it is at least effective as provding a cheaper means of distribution for small time devs.

Anne Coulter needs a fucking slap. Michale Moore needs someone more credible and equally entertaining to replace him as honourary figurehead. He makes me laugh, but he's almost as bad as the fascists sometimes.

Crazy theme, looks fun though. I like it, though I think screen 5 could do with more pizzaz and I think a bit of red and blue in places would really add that finishing touch. I might just be smoking crack though.

Is that when MAX is using cms or inches?
I've actually got a file with cubes as various sizes to use a reference, but it can still be quite tricky to get things exactly as i want them. Guess it's just a matter of practice though.

I like KF squirrels integrated idea, I've no problem with MAX, my issue is when I have to make a model to slot somewhere in the level, it's a bastard to try ang get the position and scaling of it correct and Hammers DXF export is so shitty that it's rarely on any use. Just a button that overlayed things in MAX so I could get the scale and positioning bang on the first time would be good.

Happy Birthday Strats, bit of a shame he won't be able to read this for three weeks though.

Best of luck Mino, hope you enjoyn the trip.

Monopolies are bad and EA are really starting to scare me of late, they squeeze originality out of the games industry like a juicer.

joined, loved Audioscrobbler, one of those slightly pointless, but strangely fascinating things. I've actually found out about some good bands through it, though it has been recommending me the same bands for about three months now.

I survived on 1 or 2 hours sleep a night for about a week and did two days with no sleep at all. I felt shit by the end of that, really, really shit. Getting weird flickering at the edges of my vision and you the effect you get when you look at a really bright light, then close your eyes and you can still see the glow/shape of the filament? Had that but with my eyes wide open, I was getting these hazy impressions of text floating in my vision. Had a rest at the weekend and did about the same thing the next week That was for my final year project in Uni, which I hated. Did it in about three stress filled, caffeine fuelled weeks.
I've also pulled a few proper all nighters, once when I was trying to teach myself to texture weapon models in Photoshop, spent about 12 hours straight trying to do that, then stayed up the next day untill about 2am. I'd say I've managed something like 44 hours straight on occasion.

Jesus, are you insane? Just take the badger model thats already been done, pose it and slap a colt in it's hand. Done. Really, I shouldn't have told you that, because a $100 even after I factor in transferring it over here and the exchange rate is not to be sneezed and I could really do with the money, but I don't like to needlessly see people throwing their money away.

Hell, I'd be up for it, getting a start in the games industry would be great, I really don't know what sort of level of skill you're looking for in terms of entry level/intern positions. Guess I should e-mail Chris and ask.

Thats not football, thats that nancy ass imitation rugby shit you Americans call football. PES4, now theres a football game.

Outdoors looks much, much better now, though I stille feel it could do with a a grassy texture instead of that one you're using now. Might just be me though. Shaping up very nicely indeed. Makes me wish I could map for HL2.

If there was an airgun FAL, then I'd have that. Failing that it's got to be the G36C, with some standard 92Fs as backups. Thats assuming I ever buy sucha thing.

Very nice Mino, for a second I thought it was D3 running on a low end system or something. Make the chimneys a bit fatter and stubbier

Crytek sounds like a decen enough place to work from I've heard, can't imagine the language being a huge stumbling block to be perfectly honest, I imagine that with all the different nationalities of people they have there they're quite used to people running into the office and asking someone to translate that scary letter you just got from the bank.
-
Yeah, the outdoors, while detalied, is a bit too monochromatic and drab looking. Perhaps you could make it a bit graasier and work in some other colours. Myabe some rusted yellow/blue metal and some redish texture on some of those buildings.
Otherwise superb, nice to see people starting to get to grips with HL2 and putting out some nice looking maps.

I bunked off throughout school and Uni, have left with a degree of questionable value. Still unemployed, looking at doing tech support monkey work at the moment while I continue to work on mods and stuff in my spare time in an attempt to create a portfolio so I can get into the games industry.
-
Yeah, old folk like us who only started while they were in Uni are plain outta luck. How much experience are you guys looking for? The term intern is somewhat wooly and non-specific as is entry level.

Really nice, makes me wish I had a nice camera, all the best bits of last summer were captured on my camera phone at wanky res.
