Hurrah! Nice one Peris

-
ja, feel is tricky. Piss poor feel killed Firearms (not to mention some shoddy maps) and it's what did in HI and numerous other mods as well. CS is the exception that proves the rule dontcha know.
But yeah, on topic Ins is looking great, I'm really looking forward to, hopefully my PC will be upgraded by the time it comes out or when they're seriously beta-testing or whatever.

Nwot wrong with cool looking inacessible areas, as long there seems to be a valid reason for them being like that. The annoying thing about morningstar is that the pool room is so annoyingly close. It looks like you should be able to get in there, but you just bloody well can't. I'm trying to think of a good example to the contrary, but my brain fails me at present.
-
My main problem with that area and the weird structure is that it looks a wee bit cramped for DM.
-
Nice. First quality looking HL2 mod I've seen.
-
Well done sah!
-
Lovelly, cluttered, nicely cluttered, but plenty of room to move.
I just can't be excited though, the HL2 vibe has worn off stupidly quickly and anything that looks even vaguely like the SP levels inspires nothing but apathy in me.
Still, within those boundaries, neato job.

Yeah, I've got industrywest, had a looksee, but there are no light textures I can use there.
I've seen gin on these boards and the TS ones (he was making a very promising oriental themed map), but he's not posted in ages.
Here's hoping Mr Postman puts in an appearance.
-
arr, not sure who created it though and it comes out at a pain in the arse odd size. Still, if nothing else is forthcoming I shall use it. Thanks for the tip. Where is ginsengavenger anyway?

I have tried, with little luck, to find nice replacements for the default HL lights, I've got all these shiny custom textures in my levels and the majority of the lights are these HL ones that look arse. Replaced a few with Blaz's and a few other asssorted ones, but to little avail.
Anyone know of some nice textures, or a link/tutorial on how to se about creating your own. My attempts so far, mostly based around taking an existing metal texture, then making a load of layers to simulate the bulb/tube and the glow off it have been dreadful. Also, how do you do the glass/plastic thats covering it?
Theres a nice example in the HL replacement texture thread, I'm after something along these lines, but single lights :

aw gawd, got a tut on this somewhere.
PM at about 8pm GMT and I'll send it your way.
-
The green looks weird, like it's just a hue layer or something and has no texture or character of it's own.
-
Yeah, needs better skbyox and some more dramatic lighting. Then you need more texture variation. You need more types of snow and some masked textures and the like.
-
No, you're afucking whippersnapper.
Happy Birthday Peris.. Am I allowed to use ~~ ~~~ yet?

They should just call it Windows ME2 : This time it's really crap.
Or possibly not, it might be really good, but the baggage of all this DRM/TCP/Palladium guff that surrounds it will drive people, even if the implications aren't as bad as some people have made out.
They should ahve gone the road of Streetfighter and called it Windows EX 2 :Alpha Pro Turbo Challenge Edition. Everyone would buy that.

More GTA based hilarity. There seems to be a difficulty in comprehension here, you ahve to explicity modify the bloody game to get at the porn. Firework makers aren't blamed when some fuckwit shoves them up a dogs arse, it's misuse of the product, so you can hardly blame the manufacturers. Still, they're gonna sell a shitload more copies, so I don't suppose they care overly.

Streetlights, lights form shop windows, lights for door to warehouses, lights on raodworks, lights on billboards and so forth and so on.
Edit : And of course lit windows in buildings.
-
More colour and a bit more brightness in places. It's rather dark and monotonous at present.
-
Chigeddy check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Oh, not encouraging, as I said, can be a bit nightmarish, but I think if you're an adult you should be trusted to make an informed decision. That said, most people can't make an informed decision about what they're eating, so trusting them with mind altering substances is a little unwise.
-
hoo yeah, tell me about it. ahve taken mushies and truffles and had some interesting rides with both. Had a pretty dodgy trip where I'd conviced myself I was insane and because my sense of time was gonig backwards I didn't think it would ever end, so I just sort of lay there quietly trying to make my brain work properly. Can't have been there more than half an hour becuase it only lasted for about half a CD, but at the time my sense of time and who I was, was shot to shit.
It's certainly educational though and in somewhat more measured doses is great fun.

The Ben Stiller bit was amusing, but I never really liked the office that much and this left me a bit cold as well. The whole excrutiating prick thing that Gervais has going no does nothing for me, so it was all a bit lost on me.
Absolute Power was hilarious though, not seen it before and just happened to start wathcing it. Genuis!

Mushrooms actually made me (if indeed it is possible) more of an atheist. Realsing just how much our perception of the world is shaped by our brains pretty much knocked it on the head for me. Truly crazybonkers though, I can't even really describe some of it, but having your brain inform you that your hand feels cabbage and that everything is tricycle and utterly believing and comprehending both things while at the same time not knowing or understanding any of it is pretty mental.

he eye is just a cheap trick to lure ppl into believing intelligent design. The eye would work if it had no rods, it would just work diffrently, just like many animals have 'eyes' which work diffrently
Indeed, that eye thing pissess me off. It's touted out all the friggin time and it's complete BS. Think about it, photosensitive cells give you an evolutionary advantage even without any focusing mechanism and so do various other parts of the system. It's all based on misconceptions and false assumptions about the evolutionary process.

Red lighting could be toned down a smidge, maybe so me other colours on that cliff as well, difficult to see it properly right now, it looks a little crude to me, but that could just be the light. Otherwise, it's bloody marvellous.
