  1. at the moment I'm using my uncle's Canon D60, as my 20D is in the shop. <3 Canon. I've picked up a Nikon D80 and a D50 a few times, but they felt strange in my hands. The positioning of the trigger and wheels felt odd and unnatural, while my Canon bodies are simply made for my hands. 20D especially feels like they took my hand and molded the frame around it. As for lenses, I own a Canon EF 50mm 1.4 (not used in any of these pics, superb portrait lens though), and a Tamron 17-50 2.8 XR Di II (pics 1 and 3). I have been very very happy with my tamron lens. The other two pics here were taken with a friend's Canon EF 75-300 4-5.6. It's not a flaberghasting lens, and certainly not fast (F stop), but it takes fairly nice pictures with enough light, and 5.6 seems to blur the background fairly well at 300mm (shot 2 is a pretty good example). My next lens will probably be the Canon EF 70-200 L F/4, but that won't be for some time. I had to spend nearly 500 dollars to get my 20D fixed (shutter wore out.. it sucks). So that sets my lens buying schedule back quite a bit, especially since I'm in college and don't have a lot of money to throw around. If I had the money I'd get the 2.8, but I can't justify it. Heck, I can't justify getting the F/4 right now! Maybe we should meet up and take a few shots. I'm starting up a photography club at Dunwoody (just started going there last week). One of the places I want to take everyone to is the Conservatory, as well as Minnehaha Falls, the Farmer's Market, at St. Marry's Basilica. Those last two are like two blocks away from Dunwoody.
  2. Thanks! Yeah the flowers really were that blue, or close to it. The conservatory is actually part of the Minnesota Como Zoo in St. Paul, MN. It's a little far from the IDS tower and the Metrodome to include those in the pictures though. I'm surprised at the voting though. I thought the architecture would have the most. That's my favorite anyway.
  3. But this time I didn't even go inside. I and my friend arrived and found it closing. So we took pics outside the building and I got some of the best shots I've taken to date. I'm really quite happy with how they came out. I've got them all up on deviantart too. 1 2 3 4
  4. as far as I know, from talking to some people at school, DX10 is a Vista only piece of software.
  5. wow. that looks stinking awesome. there are a few things i don't like about it, like the creased areas with the veins going through them. the veins look creased and it sorta jumps out. but wow. that looks fun. sadly, I don't expect i'll be using it. at least not yet. maybe in a few months when i really get into my new college.
  6. that's frickin awesome. music is sweet too. i think i might go watch gone in 60 seconds now.
  7. i'm not sure that's a fair comparison, regardless of engine. this looks very very good though. i think Doom3 maps are among my favorite. it's just the look of them.. maybe the textures and smooth lighting. i dunno. i just like them, and this one looks like it's going toward the top 5 or 10 percent.
  8. HOLY FRICK! That is my friend Calvin! The resemblance is incredible. I wish i had a photo of him to show you. i'll have to look for one tomorrow.
  9. pics 3 and second-to-last blow my mind. that looks nothing short of fantastic.
  10. and my video card just died. noooooooo... not that I wouldn't have had to upgrade everything else to play it anyway. 6 months. then i will do everything all over again. DX10 hardware will be out then too. gotta think Crysis at the same time.
  11. Bioshock does look fricking awesome. and let's not overlook the "xxxxshock" aspect of it. say shock 20 times
  12. once you get some decent lighting in there it will look very VERY nice. wonderful job so far. i can't wait to see the finished product.
  13. what editor does FEAR use anyway? A new version of DEdit?
  14. super impressive. i love how expansive the streets are and the attention to detail in all the buildings. quite amazing really.
  15. also on my DA here, along with a few others i took. i'm late for work -_-
  16. i know what you mean reno. it's pretty rediculous, but it was quite fun. you can launch like 50 rockets at once. it's fantastic. and the world is very very destructable.. i think. it's been a while.
  17. I've played it, so yes. I was working at gamestop (jeeze.. 2 years ago now) durring the Christmas season. I only saw it there for a day or two, but I definitely saw it. It was fun too... makes me want to buy an xbox.
  18. uhh... dang. i hadn't noticed that. what a shame.. taints an otherwise awesome photo. oh well.
  19. yeah. well, that doesn't work. at all. I understand what you mean, but they just blow everything out and you get a big wall of white. Maybe if you set the aperture really narrow you'd get something interesting. 5 seconds, f/5.6, iso200
  20. a photo i took on the fourth. 3sec, F/6.7, ISO 200, 24mm, 20D

    The Ship

The Ship was awesome.. i just don't want to pay for it. -_-
  22. does it really matter why he wants it? if he wants a cz version, let him have one.
  23. hah. yeah Turok had an insane amount of weird cheats. like fruity colors.
  24. i own Turok 1 and 2 for PC. never finished either, but I love those games. Sounds like they're putting a lot of sweat and blood into the game, and i really hope it pays off. It'd be a shame to have yet another below-par Turok game out there when they could be so awesome. Still, even if it isn't so awesome, it's using U3Engine... it looks pretty. Gotta love the shot of that T-Rex with the saliva dripping from his teeth.

    Halo 3...

I was less than impressed by it. I found it rather borring in fact.
