  1. I've been on a summer-long national park trip with my friend since the 12th of June. Our first stop was Big Bend. I didn't enjoy the place all that much, but I got some great pictures. Enjoy!
  2. except for two and three I think those are great shots. Lots of mood with some great color and lighting. That's the kind of condition I'd love to find myself in with a camera and tripod. Good job.
  3. Some photos I took in the last week or two. These are my first real sets of photos using the Adobe Camera RAW workflow. I resisted the idea of shooting RAW before, but now that I've tried it I like it quite a bit. The only photoshopping here is the border and resizing. A couple of them are also on my DeviantArt. All these were taken on my 20D with my retro-fitted sigma 50mm macro. It's the old Canon mount with a manual aperture ring, so I don't get complete exif data, but it takes great shots! On the down side the farthest I can focus is about 4 inches from the front of the lens.

  5. if you can live with it just buy a rebel. they're cheaper and use the same sensor (XTi has a higher res sensor actually). I bought a 20D over a 350D(rebel xt) because it felt a lot better in my hands. if you are debating buying the 30D in stead of nicer glass, go with the glass in stead. Resolution and a camera body doesn't matter as much as nice glass imo. of course, you could buy the nice camera and wait longer to buy the nicer lens.

  10. There was a bit of unexpected snow around here. about an inch or so. most of it melted by the end of the day (last pic), but i got a few pics of it before heading out.
  11. mmm fantastic. I remember seeing pics of this around two years ago! or maybe 1.. i don't remember. it was a while ago. I'm glad to see you've finished it.
  12. these are all excellent, but that last one makes my jaw drop. simply beautiful. Make sure you go to WRC Finland in August and get some nice pictures for me.

  15. Here are a couple of the good ones. this is roughly week1, and only 10 of 16 i have initially tagged as some of my favorites. I still haven't gone through week 2 yet. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 This was a family vacation to go see my older brother who lives in singapore with his family. Easily the best family vacation we've ever had. and yes, we did ride elephants.
  16. second one = ownage. i really like the first shot too for its simplicity. the background diffusion is good, but i think it would have been nice to be diffused a little more, as you can still make out a ton of lines in the bg(it's almost distracting). But really cool shots anyway. I wish I had frost to photograph...
  17. wow. now that's what I love to see. It's beautiful and NOT destroyed. Positively gorgeous. I'd rather look at beauty like this rather than destroyed vistas any day. Fantastic work. absolutely fantastic.
  18. not necesarily better, but definitely the trend right now. i would also say it's probably easier to make a scene look more interesting as broken down and old, than to make it clean and beautiful. you just have to choose your subject a bit more carefully. it's easy to make an old house look great by chopping up the floors and peeling the wallpaper away, but much harder to add molding around all the doors and walls, give the windows lattice, and keep the lighting interesting and varried. i dunno. i can't even think of how to make a beautiful place as varried and interesting because I havn't done it as much, and almost no one does it, so i have little point of reference. someone help me out

  20. If you'd like to do it, then yeah, please do, but I don't want to inconvenience you. I just feel like we see too much old decrepit stuff these days, not enough beauty and elegance.
  21. I made a few edits, and I think they came out great. in fact, I might make one a wallpaper.
  22. that looks very nice! it's a shame, though, that you've made it in somewhat dissrepair. Why not make it cared for? you could add artistic depth with crawling ivy, windowboxes, or other things of beauty, rather than dissintegration and decay. you'll probably want some railings on the stairs either way.
  23. blast pit and lambda core simply floored me. i'm excited about this again.
  24. yeah, I was considering not posting that one at all.. but i spent like 10 minutes in that little area trying to get a good shot, so i had to. :roll: but thanks. i'm rather proud of the fourth picture. had to take a few to get that right. you'd never know it from these pics, but those leaves had a lot of glare on them. Huzzah for photoshop.
  25. that could probably be simulated with an animating texture.
