Maybe I should just put my photo equipment in my sig. I use a 20D with a Tamron 17-50 2.8. I use Photoshop CS2 for all my post processing (PP). These were all shot with the Tamron.

Some ok pics I took last week. Nothing really special, but there hasn't been a whole lot of activity lately. Plus it's the last opportunity for me to get some winter pics.

Even DEdit (AvP2) was able to load processed lightmaps into the editor.

wow, nice purchase. I've been wanting one of those for a long time, just never could convince myself it was worth it. The 5 disks of extras was very intriguing though. Just out of curiosity, are they the same disks that come with the special editions? I have the collector's edition of Aliens and it came with a disk dedicated to the making of, I'm wondering if that's basically the same disk.

10D is a pretty decent camera. I borrowed my uncle's 10D for a few months. In comparison to the 20D I found its controls to be very unintuitive, but it takes nice pictures. I hope you enjoy it. The sooner you can get better glass the better. If you're going to be doing music gigs you should look into getting a 50 1.8 II. They are SUPER cheap and very sharp, not to mention very fast at 1.8. Of course you'll be limited to 50mm, but it's like 70USD so you can hardly say it's out of your price range. the only problem is that it's made entirely of plastic, so don't drop it. it'll fall apart. If you're going to think about a different always-on lens, and you probably should, I suggest looking into a Tamron 17-50 2.8. That's the lens I use all the time on my 20D, and I used it on the 10D too. It's a fantastic lens. Sharp, light, and moderately cheap. Now the only advice I think we can give you is to Have fun! I'm looking forward to seeing what you contribute to the photography forum.

You know, I really hope they make unique characters that are not copies of any character from Aliens. Of course that will be hard, and it's not to say that they can't be similar in ways, but it would be to their credit(GBX) to create something new in stead of recycling it. I don't really want to hear anyone say "That's it man! Game over man! Game over!" in that Hudson sort of way. I guess I'm just saying I want freshness and believable characters. Of course I'm looking forward to this game more than any other I've heard of for this/next year, maybe even in the last year too.

That's a pretty sweet place you found Jean. You were there at pretty much the perfect time for lighting. Good pics. I particularly liked 4 and 3.

I just looked him up on wikipedia. apparently he was one of the big guys at gamespot. I'm not sure why it's huge news though.

YES. It will cost less in the long run. I bought my 20D used and had to repair a broken shutter box (500 USD). Ouch. Especially after I already paid 1k for the camera itself. Get new if you can and inspect carefully the equipment you buy used.

Some high quality macros there. Shots 2/3 are definitely my favorites.

Odd, wonder why the trees tend to pop in frame then. They're just covered with snow. The trees in the foreground don't pop at all.

I'm not going to advocate Canon or Nikon. They're both really good. Just go to the store and ask to use one from each to find out which you like the feel of better. Ask for the cheaper ones because you probably won't notice a difference and they use the same sensors anyway. The more expensive ones just let you do the same thing a little faster. Take the saved money and buy a nice lens because a better lens is better than a nicer camera every day. And since you're not doing much/anything for print the number of megapixels your camera has is basically irrelevant. 3mp is more than enough for any online application. No amount of megapixels will make up for an inferior lens. You could also invest in a tripod and maybe a few filters (when you know what lens you're getting).

Phopojijo, I suggest you look up Ansel Adams and read about him. His photos are phenomenal. Probably the most well known photographer in history.
