Cant see much and i have a good Flatscreen. But good work as far as i can see @ Skacky

So i did some work on my Half-life 1 Singleplayer Mod Abyss 048 again:

This is a Underwaterhabor for Transport/Storage-Subs.
Still not done.
( Some Textures done by myself, some from CG Textures, some are from FakeFactory and some are from PhillipK! )
Models in these Pics are done by myself + dgf and the forklift is done by totac =)
Hope you like the mapwork too

We still searching for more Teammembers ( Sound,Texture,Models,Animation )

Thanks.
Yeah I totally want to play that. I'm a sucker for HL maps and mods but I didn't even think that was HL at first.

Just so we're clear my last post was a satire on all the conflicting opinions.

Seldoon, that animated example you gave isn't adding contrast, it's adding light. Contrast is the difference between two things. In the case of mapping it usually means light (intensity and color) or textures. What you've done is brightened the scene and then changed the tone of the color. Your example isn't wrong, but we should be clear about the definitions of terms so as not to be confusing.
As others are saying, it should probably be a little brighter, but I think the warm colors outside are great. They suggest warmth, which is what I think of when I think jungle. However, inside the ruins I agree with the suggestion of cooler colors. The inside is clearly damp (water dripping everywhere) and should be lit cooler. Give the mental cue of a cooler atmosphere with cooler lighting, i.e. blues and greens.

That's nice work, but the environment is so cold. The warm environment was one of the things I loved about Hera. What you've made is very good but antiseptic. Clean to the point of shiny. I know it's tough when the assets you're given are that way, but maybe you can find a way to insert some of that warm environment with lighting. Hera used some red, a lot of yellow, orange, and green. Yellowy green.

I know it's old, but wow, it's awesome. I love the treatment you've done with these photos.

Hey a lot of those were great. Thanks for sharing.

Compile it first so we can see it in-game. Hammer shots are... eh. You'll get a much better response from compiled screens.

Oh I figured these were dead bugs... WOW. KUDOS TO YOU SIR. I didn't think you could do that to live bugs.

Wow. Fantastic work, especially considering you did this hand-held. You might want to look into spending a few dollars on a focus rail for your tripod.

Sadly, no lightning. None visible at least. Glad you like them.

Or about to be. I happened to be at the SW Station (bus station) taking some pics at my Dad's suggestion when BAM! These big clouds roll in. Great dramatic skies if you toy with them a bit.

Then it definitely rained on me.

Wow. #2 of the first set is fantastic. My eyes can't stop moving! Good work on the whole.

That's a sense of humor?

beautiful work. great DoF and clarity. nice macro work. :monocle:
Particularly love the tulip and second bee.

Can you show me an example? I was originally trying to get a lot of detail in the reflection on the side, but what I got in the end was better and more real looking imo.

It's been a while since I posted here, and I can always use a good excuse to post more pics of my new car.

You should try doing another one of those Blunkka, except make it just of the clouds. I bet that'd look spectacular, especially of a sunset/rise.

awesome! those are some pretty good shots. i particularly like the last one.
Itook some rally-x shots a month or so ago. fun stuff isn't it? Rally is best. no question.

I'm going to be totally honest (because I think you'd rather have honesty than BS) and say those are all very meh. I don't have anything against playing with a camera, but that's obviously what that is.
There's nothing wrong with playing (that's the best way to learn how to use a camera), but any time you're taking shots with lighting like that it's playing with the camera more than photographing something. There's nothing wrong with a P&S camera either. SLRs are cool and all, but about the only thing they really have over point and shoot cams is that they are easier for an experienced photographer to get an exact setting. The image quality is second to your ability to use a camera well.
I think this explanation is the best: The best Digital SLR in the world shooting crap is still only taking the best looking shots crap in the world. Your crappy little P&S cam taking a picture of the most amazing sunset you've ever seen is still taking a photograph of the most amazing sunset you've ever seen. Your camera can not make up for, or stop you, from being in the right place at the right time.
I think I'm going to put that in a sticky or something.

the first two and the last are very nice. especially the last one. Good work!

I believe these are being shot on a 10D, which wouldn't have quite as good noise reduction, but I'm still willing to bet these are being shot at ISO 800+

Ah, well it didn't exactly look like that when I shot it.. mostly. When I processed the raw image I darkened the crap out of it, but also lightened it which caused very faint color to come out.. or noise. I'm not sure which, but I liked the result. A lot more interesting than flat white.

I've been looking around, but I haven't found an *easy* to read explanation of how shadowmapping works. Anyone care to explain or link me?

Pretty cool. I wonder if or how level design would be different if this kind of approach were used 15 years ago.
