  1. That's letting them off easy actually.

    DNF el oh el

They've stayed afloat by doing quite the thing they're chastising. They licensed out Duke Nukem to a number of smaller studios and publishers since the N64 days to keep development alive on DNF and Prey.

...and people still like working there and their turnover is much lower than a lot of dev houses. I see success in the happiness of the workers and the longevity of the company.

I, conversely, have little respect for the G. Broussard because of his consistent prickling of developers who are doing exactly what he is, staying in business.

I hear an echo here and I think I know the source. PM me for a private conversation about this if you want, but I think this avenue is done in public ;)

Bottom line, who wants to take development advice from someone who can't actually develop?

They develop just fine and their people are happy, that's what matters most.

(This is, of course, in reaction to his disengenuous bull-horning as of late)

    Why is it disengenuous?

    the king of vaporware.

i bet if it ever does finish it will most likely suck.

More than likely no one will know what it is and it'll have to stand on its own two feet rather than have a legacy backing it up. Whether or not it has the gumption to pull that off... well, I withhold my judgement.

  2. I wouldn't trust anything 3dr has to say about how the industry is working with any kind of validity.

I have the utmost respect for 3DR personally. George Brousard is kind of like the Col. Kurtz of the videogame industry. He does his own thing unbound by publishers or the desires of players for more ported/expanded/licensed cookie-cutter games. I know everyone laughs at Duke's borderline vapor-ware status, but 3DR has also shipped other titles and worked with other companies in the interim and managed to stay a float and stay true to themselves. That's more than can be said for a lot of smaller developers who aim big. ;)

  3. What the fuck 130 views and 6 coments???... EOT is fucking killing this comunity. I will post my wips on cgtalk

What the fuck does EOT have to do with this? Christ.

    Anyhow, comments:

Looking good so far, but bring more detail into the horns and the structures of the ear. Take care to make sure that there are eyelids, right now they're kind of there but very muted. Again, looking good! Z-brush can be a blast :)

We can be helpful hopefuly however hard it hurts!

    How horribly harmonious!

  4. give this one a chance. I admit it could flop, but just because they are trying something new, and Wil Wright has made some good stuff before, I'm willing to give it a shot. Gameplay > graphics for something like this. Give me something cool to do that I've never done before and make it fun, and I'll by your game.

This is the only game I'm looking forward to and I can tell you with certainty that a lot of industry folks are looking forward to it with similar eagerness.

    This won't flop at all.

  5. Draw distance is like 2meters, cool! This doesnt even has a great graphics so what makes this game good in middle of next-gen games?

LORD KNOWS GRAPHICS MAKE THE GAMEPLAY IN ANY GAME 1,000,000xBETTER

    Ungh, come on Csharp
