That is AWESOME, MDS. I simply love the design and texture.
Wow, this contest is shaping up with some great entries.
-
AND CONTINUITY! stuff actually happens that affects future stories!
Little things, too! It's incredibly well thought-out.
-
Yeah, rez and file size caps are toast.

Seriously one of the funniest cartoons on Cartoon Network right now. Entering its second season (you can pick up the first season on DVD right now) and just as funny as ever.
This has been the first cartoon I've really thoroughly enjoyed and laughed at since perhaps The Critic or The Tick. It's simply awesome.
-
Again, you dont understand that this wasnt about the piece of paper or the one little cartoon. This thread is also not about the cloth.
Its about the principles of freedom behind it.
And again, it was the papers, the ppl, that used their freedom, not the EU. No government could stop it even if it wanted to, because nobody controls ppl that are free.
Ignoring the laws of nations doesn't mean they don't exist or are not valid in a world setting, RD. If you want to start a thread about notions of freedom we can do that but in the context of this argument you're really branching out.
-
Haha, thats cool
Is alpha & normals allowed?Alpha is, normals you can do, but please do a non-normal-mapped skin for the contest proper.
GREAT model/skin Fictious!

In Europe the government hasnt done any of this, but you still said Europe fucked up by printing a toon. How can it befucked up, if you are in favor of the freedom to do such things? Either you meant that ordinary ppl in europe shouldnt have the freedom to draw cartoons, or you meant something else which i cant grasp.
I said Europe fucked up the handling of the cartoon after it had been printed. Your reading comprehension needs some work. Both sides were being humungus dicks over one little cartoon. The ME was yelling jihad and rattling their sabres and the EU was going "lol freedom of speech am i rite?" and printing off the picture repeatedly in an antagonistic fashion for no other reason than to piss off the ME and Muslims in general more.
They have the right to do what they did, but it doesn't make it any less irresponsible.

I am in favor of the equal treatment of your flag to any other symbol. Postman is against this, and im not sure what your stance is
And I'm against the government burning the Koran. I've stated this repeatedly. Honestly RD are you just trolling now or are you actually this stupid?

where's the mp5? That fucking gun is in everything.

Anyway. If I decide to vote for a party, I look for what I see is best for my country, for myself. Not what would be safest for me and my family. As long as direct fear is inflcuencing my decision, I refuse to see it as 'democratic.
Fear is always a motivator used in democracy. Fear that you'll lose your job, fear that you'll become sick and unable to care for yourself or others, fear that people coming into your country are going to destroy it, fear that other nations will attack you. It's the same as anything, really.
Another difference: here we are used that politicians will do anything in the favor of the people to win votes. Out there, they will do anything to win votes. There's not as much difference as you might think. Politicians make promises and break them in the same speech, it's not so much a favor to the people as it is securing power for themselves. I site America's incumbancy rates for the House and Senate. It's something like 95% and has been for a long while now.
How many islamic democratic nations do you know? Imagine bush driving throught the streets of New York, shooting his gun in the air. Surrounded by his armed and disorganized amry. This culture is so different! I partially come from that culture and I must say I still have trouble accepting and understanding some ways of thinking 'they are used to'. It's not directly negative, I think, but in comination with the western way of thinking it's deadly. It's way more focussed on survival and the gathering of power. Pavlow would not have understoud one thing of it!Now this I find an interesting angle. It is quite like a perversion of our own elections as a facade for a cheap form of despotism. I can see that.
-
And again, hamas has not been democraticle elected. Now, this might sound strange but even if Fatah would've won the elections, it wouldn't be a real 'democratic' election. It's a raw battle of power, not nearly comparable with the elections we, people from the west, know them. Want them.
they were elected. The world was shocked that they were, but they were elected. As for politicians doing anything to win the favor of the people though? Oldest trick in the book. The best scenario in my book would be for Israel to go back to its 1967 borders, the Palestinians to be given an official state and for diplomacy to be started anew. As things progress currently I don't think Hamas will be elected again. We've pretty much ensured that by pulling out support of a Hamas-led government and letting the people taste starvation ( no pun intended).

Is it right to blow yourselves up in a bus full of children and pregnant women, being totally innocent.
Is it right to claim a second 'holy city' when the other party has only one and the city you're claiming is only the 'second holiest city' you have?
Is it right to teach your kids that it is always good to kill a jew, when you have the chance to get away with it?
Is it right to teach your children to hate? To destroy?
Is it right to use kids as a cover to empty your rifle from?
Look only at the offers Israel made. Israel offered to release a 1000 (!) palestinians just so they would release the one hostage. This very much shows the difference in appreciation of life... Death and destruction seems to be populair amongst palestinians and that's mostly to blaim their own leaders.
Where are the critics on Arafat when he frauded over 90% of all the financial support he got from Europe? He had 7 palaces in this world. Seven! While 'his people' were merely having enough money to pay for their daily needings?
Where are the critics to the (open!) terrorist goverment? And no, I agree you can't judge a whole nation, but the hamas goverment is elected by a large group of people and i do think they are responsable for their own choices and it says something about a nations attitude..
You see, Israel continuesly seems to be portrayed as an agressor while they are the ones being attacked! Everytime they talk back in the same language the arabs do, the world seems to be shocked an awed but the thing nobody wants to see is that Israel is the one being attacked!
Oh, and Postman, saying Israel 'is known' for willing to accept civillian losses 'as long as their intended target is destroyed' is bullshit. Sorry to say, but who's ass did you pulled that one from?
Have you seen Israeli mothers saying they hope their child will die young as a martyr? Have you seen Israeli soldier hiding behind kids, shooting at arabs? Have you seen Israeli fathers, shuf a AK-47in the hands of their 12 year old sons? Have you seen a proud Israeli familiy around a dead member because he died 'while destroying the intended target'?
Get real. You see, that's the great difference between these so closely related people: one seeks life and the other seeks death, one builds, and the other destroys...
You gotta understand I think both sides are stupid. I think both sides are just as bloodied and should work towards peace, however there are factions within each that make that an impossibility. Hamas, in this case, was at least trying to legitimize itself by becoming a political party. With that there would've been a tempering of their vehemence. However, right after they were democratically elected (on the basis of their civic duties* not their anti-israeli stance) the West immediately pulled funding. Now what are a bunch of poor, starved, angry people going to do? Riot and be assholes. So the cycle continues.
*they built hospitals, schools, houses for the poor, etc etc.

I did it to be constructive.
No, you're attempting to troll the forums. What you did was trolling. Plain and simple.
Someone must reteach America what freedom really isWe've tried. You either don't comprehend it or simply have a completely warped idea of it and refuse to listen to reason.
-
You said its fucked up
Its true you didnt say they were right, because it means they were wrong.Re-read. I said it fucked up. Not that it's fucked up. The handling of that cartoon on both sides was just an irresponsible shitstorm.
I actually created this daring thread for it to evolve like it did. Its about the principles of freedom, and not the cloth. The thread has gone naturally to the weak points in your argument against the ban. Unfortunately you dont recognize this argument, simply because you hear the word Islam. I tried to just replace it with the word religion but then you thought i was talking about ufos. So, you were trolling. How are you a mod here, again?
This is not about you or me Postman, but about something much bigger and more epic. In the end, the freedom of speech has won this argument. But between you and me, the jury of:
i can respect his art, but he's wrong here.Kleinluka,
idiotSkjalg,
idiotKokos,
idiotPericolos0
fucking idiotKillertomatoYeah, I forgot that having a majority opinion means that you've got the right opinion. Cheers!
You forget that I'm pro-freedom of speech, but anti-stupidity and also pro-responsibility. There are lines of distinction there that you clearly don't understand.
-
They were democratically elected though, RD. Wouldn't that make their actions war-like and not terrorist? It does not absolve their actions, but Israel is known for accepting civilian losses in their attacks so long as their intended target is destroyed.
-
Yes you did.
Never absolved anyone of their actions. I never said either was right or correct. Re-read.
Either way this has gone way beyond whether or not flag burning should be legal and has gone into the realm of RD bitching about Islamic cartoons again. So unless you've got any new points or opinions on the subject of the proposed (and failed) US flag burning ban, then I consider the matter closed and myself the victor.
-
Apparently you dont recognize the causes and effects, because you dont recognize there is a problem. You think violence is a normal and acceptable way of dealing with criticism? That violence is predictable doesnt mean its all righty
Now you're just being contrary for the sake of being contrary.
Unfortunately for you, you live in the western world and its unlawful to assault or kill others for whatever reason other than self defenseDid I ever say it was legal or right? Re-read. Oh, and emoticons are not punctuation. I took the liberty of removing around a half dozen.

Sure, I suppose it's open to any and all.
If anyone knows a programmer skilled in the old ways or hell, just skilled in general, could they forward them to me? I'm sick of dealing with Tom flaking out on me every night (he did so again, tonight).
-
to already have th first build. thats pretty impressive. are you guys coding it aswell? this is becoming a very nice project

Coding it, yeah. The biggest hurdle thus far was switching to md3 model support (animations, etc) and now that that infrastructure is there it's smooth sailling.

Actually because of the 4th of July weekend it was put on hold until today. Tom and I are working on it tonight in fact. Sorry for the delays

nice stuff there, JAL!

I actually meant to change the texture size at the beginning of this month's contest. I forgot to change that when I copy/pasted the rules from last month.
