  1. Those jokes are worse than Shadows mapping

Worse than your screenshot which you showed me earlier? I don't think so!

Congratulations FrieChamp. Personally I don't think I could get myself to do something like that. Respect. ;)

  2. Same for Heavenly Sword, Blue Dragon and Folklore. Is someone going to make a next-gen game that's actually fun?

    Blue Dragon is great.

But it doesn't surprise me the American reviews it gets are bad. Blue Dragon is a great JRPG, and many people can't appreciate those kind of games. Mainly because they're not used to them. Which is why its doing excellent in Japan even though the 360 sales aren't everything they should be over there. JRPG's almost a genre on their own really.

The demo doesn't do it justice though.

  3. ":n0ue88s5]Omg! Awesome! :D

Any clue who did it? :P

Btw, I never played Vampires: Bloodlines, is it any good? xD

I think Zaphod made it. There's also a clock in the intro of the game, and the brand name is Zaphod. Hehe, I haven't seen him on Mapcore in a while though.

And yeah, its an awesome game if you ignore many bugs.

[*:2j5r3h1j]Jeremy Soule - The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
      [*:2j5r3h1j]Koji Kondo - Zelda OSTs
      [*:2j5r3h1j]Martin O'Donnell & Michael Salvatori - Halo OSTs
[*:2j5r3h1j]Nobuo Uematsu - Blue Dragon & Final Fantasy games

Those are some of my favorites.

  4. Did anyone ever notice this?

I've played through Vampires: Bloodlines twice, and I never noticed this before. Was playing it again earlier today and suddenly the bottle of rum on the shelf caught my eye.

    Rumcore

    Oh that Zaphod!

  5. I bought a 360 Premium about two days ago.

Rainbow Six: Las Vegas, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Lost Planet and Bioshock have all been games I've been wanting to play on my PC for a long time now. But they just don't run since my x800 doesn't support Shader Model 3.0.

Upgrading my videocard would mean I'd best get a PCI-E card, but that would mean getting a new motherboard. If you upgrade one thing, you always wind up practically buying an all new rig.

So I got the 360 Premium (the Elite isn't worth it, unless you want the 120gb HDD for media storage and HDMI). The console also dropped in price recently, which makes it a nice purchase.

So far I'm enjoying life. ^^ Bioshock plays great, even with a controller. The game looks amazing, I was just stunned how well the 360 was rendering the graphics. That was using component cables on the TV. Now my 360 is hooked up by an HD VGA cable on my 22" Widescreen, and everything looks even sharper.

While a controller might not be a mouse and keyboard, it does have it upsides. For example, last night I tried the MoH: Airborne demo from the Live Marketplace, and the atmosphere in that game is amazing. Add up the fact that you can feel your gun shooting because of the vibrating controller (which makes the experience even more massive). Then add the fact, that thanks to the analog sticks you can actually peek around corners much better and softer. On a PC its usually "Press A and E to peek left and right". And when you do, your character sticks full blown out of the corner as if he was doing calisthenics. Also walking and running can be done a lot smoother with a controller.

But yes, granted. Aiming isn't always that great. And I can't see myself playing an RTS with a controller. But that doesn't mean a controller is "that" bad in the end. Not with singleplayer games anyway...

  6. I just bought a 360 and Bioshock (+ Blue Dragon) today. Mainly since my x800 card wasn't able to run Bioshock (SM2.0b card).

Loving the game so far, I was a bit skeptic at first if I really wanted to play Bioshock (or any shooter really) on a console. But the controller feels really smooth. I was adjusted to playing with it in under 5 minutes to be honest. I like how you can do the soft smooth movements using the analog stick. But also aim pretty fast at the same time.

Quite happy with my expensive bunch of purchases today. ^^

  7. I wouldn't have a problem playing as a nazi soldier. Why would I? The war ended long ago and times have changed. I don't see why people would be offended by a game with nazis.

Yeah, if your just playing as a German soldier it would be pretty cool.

In the end, all soldiers are just peons, they do what their country asks them to do. Back then, If things were different? A lot of German soldiers had as much in common as the Allied soldiers. Probably could have been great friends as well.

Many multiplayer games already do it, but I'd love to see it in a singleplayer storyline.

This is why I loved the movie "Letters From Iwo Jima". It took the whole war theme, and put it from the Japanese perspective. And it constantly has you thinking "Damn, those Japanese soldiers were crazy." A few minutes later "Damn, those Japanese soldiers were really kind as well.". And the same thing happens in the movie with the American troops. At one point you see their friendly, kind and liberating side. A few minutes later they're just as bad as the other side.

Oh well, going a bit off-topic here I suppose. ^^ But this should really happen more often with videogames.

  8. While this looks like one of the first great game to movie adaptations (suck it Uwe), its a shame they just couldn't stick to the game.

Why is he shaving his head in the shower? I thought 47 was supposed to be genetically bald.

Whats with the love and romance? In the first game, after he helped a Chinese girl escape (upon which she gives him a kiss), he looked totally grossed out.

Huge explosions and gunning people down? He's supposed to be the ultimate silent assassin.

Religion? Hmmm, maybe. In some games he kills strictly under contract, in one game his motive was because they kidnapped a priest. But even then he was working under contract with the help of the agency I believe.

This stuff annoys me as a Hitman fan. I can understand that when your making a film from a book, there will be major differences because everyone can interpret a book in a different way. But videogames are almost like movies already, since you've got everything in visual, audio and text.

The actor actually doesn't bother me though, since its understandable that they can't have an exact match from a virtual character unless they did the entire movie in CGI.

I'm still going to watch it though!

  9. Can't wait.

There were some proof of concepts posted on Kotaku a while ago, the controller looked a bit weird but the concepts were made by fans I believe.

Personally I love rhythm games on my DS.

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! For the win (or Elite Beat Agents for the US people).

  10. I'd love to give some criticism and advice, but I just wouldn't know where to begin.

There is just so much wrong, ranging from the lighting, terrain, props, scale, textures to the brushwork...

While this map is supposedly for HL2: DM, I don't actually see any weapons or items around on these pictures, was that the point or am I just not seeing them? The fact why these shots are taken in Garry's Mod is also puzzling me a little bit to be honest.

  11. I do think Unreal and Unreal Editor are better. Yet I prefer working with Source and Hammer.

Why? The toolset annoys me sometimes, but Hammer does what its supposed to and the Source user base is in my opinion larger. I don't care how long it takes me to make something, or how much it annoys me, but if more people will potentially play it than I'm sold.

Mind you, this is speaking as an amateur designer, professionally Unreal has the upper hand here. It also depends on if you would go professional with Source, how much support from Valve you would get to speed up your workflow and knowledge of the engine.

To me its pretty much a tie to be honest. Like with most things in the computer world, both have their ad- and disadvantages.

  12. whine.core

As if your contributing anything to this thread. Hypo.crit

I3yG-MaK, her face looks better although there is still too much contrast in there that doesn't match up. The upper part and the bottom part of her face for example.

Also, the eyes are a little bit over-the-top. She had freaky eyes to begin with, now she's just plain creepy.

  13. I don't get the joke either, desu means am, is or are. It makes no sense. :P

Love the model, I think it might have been prettier if the hair wasn't so long, right now it looks a bit weird hanging against her dress. The bottom parts of the texture on her hair looks a bit weird too.

Top notch for the rest though.
