Algor reacted to Erratic in The Last of Us
Gameplay is very good in the last of us. Don't mix it up with uncharted as the mediocre gameplay/good story cut scene game
also play on Hard you little bitches. Don't be that dude who plays Halo on Normal and wonders why the game is boring. Some games actually design with difficulty levels in mind.

"CIA officer Paul Craig Roberts"...
A quick search will tell you Paul Craig Roberts was never a member of the CIA. The implied title would appear to give him some credibility, otherwise he is just another radical making wild statements that people just eat up as truth.

For a start he isn't a CIA officer he is an economist. Literally took me 2 seconds to check that. So yeah, I'm going to call bullshit on what he says. I mean here is his statement on the plane.
"One fact is that the separatists do not have the expensive Buk anti-aircraft missile system or the trained personnel to operate it."
Except they factually 100% do have BUK AA.
"Another fact is that the separatists have no incentive to shoot down an airliner and neither does Russia. Anyone can tell the difference between low-flying attack aircraft and an airliner at 33,000 feet."
No one is claiming they did it on purpose or did it thinking it was a low-flying attack aircraft, as has been proven by their own statements they thought it was a Ukrainian transport plane.
So basically this guy is a fucking idiot who has done zero research on any of this. Honestly this guy is a clown and is using this tragedy to push his own agenda.

wow. you fucking scrub. i solo'd those pricks and it took a good few attempts, there is a moderate amount of luck in that fight just because you can get a bad pattern or you get lucky and have them throw their shields at you which leaves them open to get a solid and thorough dicking.
i beat the gargoyles FINALLY tonight. it gave me so much trouble that the mobs leading up to the fight stopped respawning (that's +15 attempts at that fight, that seriously tested me). I ended up using the giant club boosted to +3 just so I could dps single targets down fast enough that i didn't end up with more than 2 on screen at any time.
god it felt so good to beat those guys after such hard work.
now i am just roaming around leveling up a little until i find a large titanite shard to +4 the club and boost it to a decent S rank. it does over 400 damage in a single strike without any buffs so it feels pretty stronk, the slowness is a little problem but i can still get a hit in and dodge backwards, now it's just about learning the max reach. after using the heide knight sword for 50 levels i have gotten way too used how that behaves. still. fuck yeah. such accomplishment. much personal victory.
/edit microsoft is cancer. i am using a UK account, but i can't plug in my Swedish visa because reasons. i finally got them to migrate the account, but now it's been offline for 48 hours, after they said it would take 24. the long and short of it is that i can't go online, so i have to solo everything, i can't read or write messages, i can't invade or be invaded (which sucks cause i have already done the bell tower), and i just feel really alone and disconnected from the other souls. it makes the game more atmospheric in a way, i don't see messages next to the cat with content like "tongue but hole", or "woman ahead, try but fist", it also removes any co-op crutch for defeating the bosses and makes victory that much sweeter, but it still feels like i am missing out.
i'd go and buy the PS3 version in a heartbeat if it didn't run at sub-30 fps. fuck it, look forward to jolly co-operation on the superior PC version. it could have worse graffixx for all i care, i can just totally do without the fucking shitty console performance and the dogshit online. fuck microsoft. stop supporting them, cancel your gold, sell your xbox, pirate their software, send dog shit in brown paper bags to their offices. fuck them.

I'm not posting because I'm too busy playing and loving the game!
I agree with you about being inaccessible, but disagree with most of your other points. You should play DS2 before you try to critique it. It's not fair to extrapolate your experience of DS1 onto DS2 because a lot of things are different.
Poor design choices? Their combat is pretty incredible, basing it off timing and reading your opponents is some of the most well done in the genre. Placing limits on the player via equipment load or stamina makes some pretty hard choices that are also pretty simple. The way the game communicates this balance is done really well also. Little to no sense of progression? I can't remember a game where I have a stronger feeling of "I can't believe I used to struggle with this area, or with these enemies". The sense of progression in this game is amazing. The nonlinear world allows you to push into one area until you hit a difficulty wall, then try another area. Checkpoints too far apart? I honestly think they are too close together in DS2. In some cases you just go around a few corners and there is a new one. Bad controls? Again, the game gives you enough options and controls to counter almost anything thrown at you, so long as the player is being cautious and responding correctly. There are the occasional bugs with lock on or my greatsword tends to attack the complete wrong direction but its almost in the nature of the game. -

After having a tough time in deciding what to do next, considering finally making the big push to go abroad, plus having a couple of local offers and potential gigs making it a way harder decision than it should be, then I’ve gone with something fairly different and have joined something called Brain+, headed by one of my former colleagues. There I’m working as a Game Designer on smaller brain training games and will collaborate with university researchers to prove and hone their effectiveness, improving the general quality of the games, as well as pretty much rebooting and redesigning the app as a whole to have a stronger game-like vision.
It certainly doesn’t have prestige of working on big games, but right now I’m honestly fine with that, I’m sure that I’ll get back to working on bigger or more traditional games at some point. Having worked there for most of February already then it does feel pretty good and refreshing to try and get outside my comfort zone and tackle some very different types of challenges, though I guess time will tell whether it’ll stay interesting for long.
It does feel kinda weird to be working on games that doesn’t involve caving people’s heads in with a hammer tho :G~

Jesus dude... If you have constructive critics for any of the gameplay mechanics or level design by all means post it here, or.. if you don't like it, don't play it. I'm not sure if I like that attitude towards a game, and I mean ANY game.
There's nothing wrong on building on other titles / sub-genres successes, specially being that these guys pretty much made CoD what it is. I don't see anyone going like "ohhh Nintendo is making another Mario game, DISGUSTING"

Algor reacted to PogoP in WIP in WIP, post your level screenshots!
Looks ace man, but I think it suffers from the same problem Siege has, in that everything is too noisy because of the lighting, and the ambient colour is too dark so it would be hard to spot players. I think increasing the brightness of the ambient, and perhaps giving it a slight blue colour would fix a lot of that though.
Looks amazing though!
