Well, of course we can appreciate what a person can do with the aging HL engine. It's not like we penalise him for not having bump-mapping, 2048x2048 textures and physics objects.

That wasn't my point. My point is, that prolly ~everybody will start mapping for the new source engine, and wery few people will use a huge effort for making the maps for the original hl engine anymore.

Such is progress. HL1 has had a superb innings of 5 or 6 years, but it's time to move on to bigger and better things.

OMG this lux great! I'm starting to get sad that hl2 with the new source engine is coming out, sorta crushes this half-life mapping scene, and we can't go "omg this lux great!" for a map anymore

lack of people, lack of good maps, too slow, only plays fun for a small sect of people, are reasons why HI is no longer fun.

I like how you can actually see where you're going.

Other than that, it's a solid foundation for bigger and better things. The combination of lovely smooth curves and plastic-style shaders makes it seem like the map takes place in a condom of unusual proportions.

i saw jurassic park like 3 times....first time in theaters when i was like 7.....every time i watch jurassic park with someone they NEVER remember the first 15 minutes of the movie where the guy gets eaten....its like its a different movie or some shit

On a more serious note, the outdoor areas look accomplished but the indoor sections are lacklustre. They need more geometrical variation and detail, sprites and ambient_generics to give them character and more defined, varied lighting.

Unbelievable. I've seen some stunning maps this week, and this is certainly one of them.

The light looks out of place too, I'd prefer it if it were to be a seperate texture that the mapper could apply at his/her discretion.
