Very useful: http://steambanners.booru.org/index.php you can find banner icons for basically any game here to use with steam big picture. If you have a non-steam game installed, the banner will look crappy by default because it will just use the windows icon. You can find properly formatted banners for basically any game ever on this site. Also has banners for emulators and XBMC

You know who else also hated capitalism? That's right... HITLER!
-
Are you trying to say this is the same as the trailer we just saw? I think we both know it isn't. No matter how hard you try to say they are the same, they are not the same. So is the point your shitty friends are trying to make that games like GTAV aren't serious enough about their violence? That the civilians should be begging for their lives and genocide should be an actual objective? That the game world shouldn't be a self aware parody and instead should try to be more realistic? What censorship are they making a statement about exactly? Are school shootings and violent murderers not getting enough attention already? Let's be honest here your shitty friends are just making a shitty game but are using shock value to get as much attention as possible. And of course it will get more press attention than actual good and interesting games. Fuck them

This is terrible & you have shitty friends, sorry.

You should look at maybe a career in videogames

isnt HDMI supposed to be digital? How could the image degrade? You could also try wireless hdmi but I have no idea if that comes with input lag. And you could also just play this with a controller I guess since it was designed for consoles as well.

from what I know, and my knowledge is limited. Being CPU bound shouldn't affect the resolution too much. if it runs at 30 fps because it's CPU bound, it will run a 30 fps now matter what res. Upping the res will of course eventually make the framerate GPU bound again, dropping it even below 30. Still, sad they have to drop to 900p to stay at 30 fps. The game looks good, but it doesn't look so good that it warrants dropping the resolution, imo.

THE CHAOS ENGINE is on steam for like 1$!! 2 player local coop, work with controllers by default. It starts windowed on first startup, but once set to fullscreen it will stay like that on next startup, and be 100% controller compatible . worth playing for the music and awesome pixel art alone, imo
-
how does this compare to dark souls
-
Some more we tried: -crawl: It's still in alpha but unfortunately it couldn't hold our attention very long. The art style is so low res and chaotic that it's hard to see what's going on. Felt like more style than substance unfortunately. The combat just isn't very interesting and most of the time the other players float around as ghosts with nothing to do which sucked. Anyways, hope it gets better over time, will probably try again in the future. -serious sam 3: split screen and interface all accessible with a controller. awesome! However the art is so desaturated and noisy it's really hard to see what's going on. Performance was pretty crappy too on 4 player split screen, I had to set everything to ultra low to get a decent framerate (singleplayer i get 60 fps on high). We only did deathmatch though but got bored of it pretty fast. I'd give it a pass but will try coop mode next time. -Quake 3 revolution: Better than serious sam 3 but got boring pretty fast. 4 player split screen performance was surprisingly good for it being an emulator. Controls are pretty bad and you get none of the finesse and movement feel that makes quake feel so cool. Was kinda cool to try for a while though, just because it's interesting to play Q3 in a different way . But not really worth going through the effort to make it work. -magica: AWESOME! I've had this game for a few years now and only every played on LAN which was pretty fun. But the game really shines in local coop. The controller support is surprisingly well done and we probably played the coop for several hours straight. Like this is seriously one of the most fun games I've ever played in coop. With 4 player we tended to each take on different roles (healer, fire attacker, lighting guy and defense/freezing) which felt awesome. Lots of tense situations we only got through thanks to good teamwork. Very very impressed with how well done the local coop is. When we first accidentally combined beams and killed a boss it felt like one of the best moments in a game ever. Recommended!

you built a roof over your own head. you are man now

lol, windows 10 i guess.. silly M$

So I got this to work: Quake 3 revolution for PS2 on PCSX2 . Screenshot taken with Steam Big Picture! Other than some texture glitches, runs pretty well! 60FPS for 2 players and a little below that for 4 Half-life also works, and the PS2 version has COOP (Decay) and split screen deathmatch

good to know! . I'm waiting for windows 9 until I finally switch from windows 7.

So I had a party game night and here's the verdict on what we played: -mario wars: kinda fun for about 5 minutes, but mostly confusing and gets boring real fast -broforce: great with 2 players. way too much stuff going on with 4 players and very confusing -hidden in plain sight: AWESOME!!!! highly recommended -nidhogg: AWESOME! It's only 2 players but we played this for a loooong time taking turns. Really fun to watch people duel -trackmania 2: Terrible. The local multiplayer is very half assed and nothing like the LAN or online multiplayer. Navigating the menus is a frustrating experience too. Immediately uninstalled it lol -speedrunners: AWESOME! However this game is very very tense. after playing a few rounds you really want to take a break to calm down. Will try some of the other suggestions next time

Here's another instance of windows ruining the fun. I get this annoying popup playing some games: which makes you lose focus on steam, takes you back to windows and totally fucks things up. good thing you can turn it off using this: http://superuser.com/questions/507308/permanent-fix-for-do-you-want-to-change-the-color-scheme-to-improve-performance Still.. it shows just another reason why valve is doing the linux thing. There's just too many random windows issues that are out of their control, and you can't expect any mainstream users to edit their registry to get a smooth steam experience.

That's awesome! Is it possible to stream non-steam games as well?
-
How is the picture quality and input lag for streaming games like that? Good to know they have mouse emulation for that too

I found another solution to the keyboard+mouse problem.. use my phone! I just tried this out and it works perfectly: http://remote-control-collection.com/ Works great with my android phone. I'd still prefer to use the controller, but at least this solution doesn't feel like a weird hack. I'll probably use this until there is a better solution .

I have this one: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product.do?sku=V11H373120 You can get these for ~800$ if you look around. It's served me well for almost 5 years now, had to replaced the lamp twice and replaced the optical block once using parts from a broken one. I highly recommend it, though you need to take good care of it

I've tried it and while cool, it still felt like they have a long way to go with it . I hope they can come up with something that's at least as good as the xbox controller, with an optional extra mouse control that feels good. I'm not sure if a steam controller that tries to be as good as a mouse would be the right solution though. Some games are just made to be played on a desktop. I'd rather see the mouse control as a nice extra on it.

works like that by default for me, but I don't have an xbox sitting around here so I dont have that problem. I guess you just need to unplug yours
