st0lve reacted to Tisky in Life is strange sometimes
Between 1990 and 1996 i lived in a house together with my family and it was the period of my life that i remember most fondly.
We got a Super Nintendo while we lived there and after my mother and step-father broke up and we sold the house life kind of went spiraling downwards. By 2004 My grandmother and grandfather died of cancer, my father had commited suicide and my mother started abusing heavy drugs.
All i ever really wanted was to find the same stability and family-life i had as a kid.
My kids mother (we were together between 2004 and 2012) destroyed my hope for women but i got two amazing kids out of that relationship.
I met a woman through internet after years of terrible dates and extremly low self-esteem. I remember thinking when i first saw her that "she is waaay out of my League". Fast forward and this weekend we moved into a house, on the same street i grew up on. I would never have dreamt of this in a million years and i get all teared up watching my daughters playing Sim City on the SNES mini.
Sorry for the rant but i never thought a game i played as a kid could make me feel this way today.

I feel like this is representative of the age of the average CSGO player. We all wear our trousers a little higher and spend a little longer in the bathroom now, right?

st0lve reacted to will2k in Ready or Not - The spiritual successor to Rainbow Six and SWAT 4
The game is still in early access, but the reception has been overwhelmingly positive (96% positive of 8.3k reviews on steam)
It does look and play like a modern version of SWAT 4
Already added to wishlist https://store.steampowered.com/app/1144200/Ready_or_Not/

st0lve got a reaction from Minos in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
So I stumbled onto this article yesterday;

In the comments, some dude with semi-solid proof claims to be Fantasy.
So this means RD lied

I have stuffed my body with enough dangerous things already, that I can't see how I rationally can be scared of a vaccine... And it's not like I am smart enough to break down the contents of the vaccine and make a sound judgement of what's good for me or not, which is why I simply have to trust my local Government and healthcare professionals (which is no issue for me, I'm Norwegian).
There is what, 4 vaccines at roughly the same stage and effectiveness by now? I don't find it weird how they have been developed so fast. Basically breaking down the entire worlds economy will make things a top priority, in this case a Covid vaccine. Some of these vaccines are without private ownership as far as I understand as well, which means that unless you think Germany has some seriously bad country-agenda, then I'll give them the benefit of doubt.
And yes, the importance of vaccines is herd immunity so that the vaccines even have an effect. So personally, if there is an vaccine available at low/no cost, I think it's selfish to not take it.

Herd immunity. Immunocompromised people may be unable to take the vaccine themselves, or it may not be effective in them, and population-wide immunity can stop the virus from spreading to them.
That's what all the antivax drama has been about for years now, ngl I'm genuinely surprised you'd not know that

"The briefing says that the frequency of Bell’s Palsy in the vaccine group is “consistent with the expected background rate in the general population”, adding there is “no clear basis upon which to conclude a causal relationship at this time”. The FDA said it would, however, recommend “surveillance” for cases of Bell’s Palsy as the vaccine is sent out to larger groups of people."

Get vaccinated so I can see my family again, travel somewhere if possible, plan my wedding for 2022, get a clean bill of health after a difficult 2020 and get rid of the remaining stones in my kidney (this shit is not fun).

st0lve got a reaction from cyberjunkie in What's going on with your life?
I have my own company, but it's almost always been on more of a hobby/side-project basis except for shorter periods of full time focus and/or consultancies. I've been with my last employer for 3 years. I actually got a new job offer yesterday! It's weird to just get job offers without applications or proper interview processes, but it's always been like that for me. Jobs I actually apply for, I typically never hear back from.
Still skateboarding, but I am missing a few ligaments here and there and I am turning 32 tomorrow, so my body isn't what it used to be even though I am physically fit. I do a mix of skateboarding, boulder, bike and yoga. Anything that keeps me out of a traditional gym.

Hi internets~
I'm good these days, even though I lost my job. Healthy, strong and lots of productive pursuits.
