  1. One the better things to do when doing magazine-photoshopping like that, you get to make everything seemingly more vibrant and contrasty. While you did a good job with fixing up the small marks and mishaps with the skin, you need to really work on the hair a bit. One the more simpler ways to see improvements it duplicating the layer - changin' the top to Soft Light to see a more contrasted image.

  2. That sounds like a load of bullshit to me, mate. I shall quote Mikezilla (Cause obviously you didn't read it):

"It's really in place to show something of artistic merit or a creative achievement."

Creative achievement. He created somethin' original with new content. Leave it alone, man. It's not "Well this map is better than this.. so it must go up." You likely can make the best fy_iceworld remake in the world, and it won't make spotlight cause of how overdone it is.

No ones "turning on you" you brought it on yourself, when say something disrespectful likely out of spite or jealousy, you better have reasons. I'd apologize if I were you to atleast show maturity.

  3. Okay, files are hidden inside .gcf files. You need to download GCFScraper. Before you can extract any files from the game (Half-Life 2 or CS:S, you need to exit STEAM entirely or it will say it's in use).

Open the GCFScrape program, it likely is somewhere in STEAM folder (The folder where you select your email), you should see a bunch of icons that say Half-Life 2 content, Counter-Strike content, Lost coast-content. I assume if this is from de_train you're going to want to open the file named "Counter-Strike shared content"

You'll see the files on the left frame of the screen like opening archives. I'm not postive of where you need to go (I'm writing from work and off my memory) but likely there will be some folder called material, or materialsrc that contains the .vtf and .vmt of "boxcar" while you need to select and extract to anywhere.

Simply right click the .vmt after extraction to rename it to boxer.txt and you can open it in notepad. Also this will tell you if theres a specular map to go with it which you also will need (fag). Then enter the text my lovely assistance insta had posted before this.

Save it, close notepad, rename the file to boxcar.vmt (You get a dumb pop-up just say okay).

From there you find a tutorial on putting in custom textures, (I'm lazy sorry. http://www.snarkpit.com)

  4. Heres my reasoning:

I hate AIM maps, and really any aim map that I had played in the past was usually a boxed in grassy area with some cyclinders for cover. Too actually see an aim_map excel to the point of using a whole new idea and new content/features makes it spotlight material from other normal maps.

You seem overly bitter, perhaps a little upset that no one decided to spotlight your strip club? It's nice, but like you said it's nothing I said "Wow!" over or even consider it being spotlight worthy. Thefore, shut the fuck up and don't act high & mighty of what and who is deserving of a spotlight gallery.

  5. Wow man, that was rude as fuck. Sorry if you're a bit bitter no one spotlighted your strip club? The map they did is spotlight because it's original idea, new content, and features. Both the artists are very-talented and deserving of a spotlight spot on the website.

  6. That's fine, you know what I was going to say. And really theres no arguement for it. But, you could easily extract the Counter-Strike:Source vechiles to be models for Half-Life 2 (Or any other modification). Theres no police vechiles, I believe theres only a truck and a black car.

My advice would just be contacting someone who had experience with cars, probably http://www.off-limits.be They seem to have already achieved a library of new prop cars.

  7. 150mb for 1 single map? D:

You should have compressed your vtf files abit more ;)

But it looks nice, maybe I should find out how it plays.

Yeah seems a bit high D:

How exactly did you compile your textures? Cause if you use Photoshop and save them as a .vtf rather than using the vtex.exe to convert them to .vtf you're nearly trippling the size of the one .vtf

well i actually did use vtex.exe because i know of the crappyness of this photoshopplugin. 512² textures are nearly 170kb. and the zipped downloadsize is just 4 MB above the beta. this is because i added several models and textures. whats the deal?

Was just humble advise, no "deal". Calm down.

  9. dc-mike thats awesome, my only complaints is top center it's a little dark patch, it's kinda noticable when tiling. and also that grass, dirt, canyonrock, etc etc. is usually better around 1024x1024 to avoid obviously tiling patterns in such large circumstances like the cliffs hes shown.

also your texture is oddly 480x480?

  10. Has a Vice City vibe to it. Very nice work.

Exactly what I was about to say!

Although, I don't know, for whatever reason the stripper models just seem cheesy to myself. Although its a club n'all it just seems it's going to be "LOL SHES NAKED LOOK UP THERE LOL". They're the hostage models though, right?
