There's no flash in iPhone either, it eats alot of cpu power and even in laptops cause battery life problems. I can clearly see why they're not supporting it.
IMO, nothing to do with realism, at least not for me. It's a purely visual thing that adds to the overall feel of the game. Weapon bobbing is one of them.

No, not that. It's purely visual thing. Source engine games have this. When you look right the weapon kind of "sways" to the position after the mouse movement.
