Congrats, sir! Looks like a pretty great project
-
It was introduced in a semi-recent SDK update... no idea what happened, or if they've even been able to fix it since then. (I'll re-bug my man on the inside )
-
Do you have a 360 controller plugged in? Check that or other input devices; unplugging my controller fixed it.

Right now I'm thinking the mini-challenge (if we do it) would take place June 3rd to 5th, and the Portal 2 pack would run June 17th to July 17th.

Door Challenge voting is up! viewtopic.php?f=57&t=16237 Great work, everyone And major props to generalvivi for helping put this together; I can't speak from experience, but it looks like this was a fun one! So, two things. I'd like to try one of the old-school weekend challenges in about 2 weeks if any of you guys are interested. I was thinking we could put together a list of HL1DM themes (Xen, Surface Tension, Lab styles, etc. or maybe bust out the Nightwatch textures or something) then draw one out of a hat at the start of the challenge. I was thinking it could run Friday/Saturday and we could get together and play the levels on Sunday. Anyone in? We don't even need a big crew for these small ones - just 4-5 guys cranking out levels could be a good time. Second, if we want to go with a Portal 2 round that turns into a MapCore community pack, I think we should put a little more advance planning into it - give people time to prepare, figure out how to arrange the levels and link them together (if we do), etc. How do we decide ordering, any level-to-level progression, etc. I know some of you guys are already cranking with Portal 2, it'd be great if you could start pooling together the resources we need to get everyone up to speed and ready to roll. I think this could be a really exciting one since Portal 2 is still so fresh and the community is just getting rolling on it. Might also be great for drawing some new blood to the Core.

Hello again! The Door Challenge submissions are in and it's time to get to the voting! We had excellent turnout this round, with 17 entries for HL2:Ep2, the UDK, Gears of War, and Portal 2. As with the last vote, you may vote for up to three entries. For this challenge, focus on the creativity and technique used to script the puzzle. You are also encouraged to play the levels (if possible) before viewing the videos. We have a few entries still pending video submissions; look for those to pop up soon. Here are your submissions - good luck to everyone who entered! Please VOTE CAREFULLY - There are a lot of "Door" names on the list.

THE DOOR CHALLENGE: Rules and Discussion
KungFuSquirrel replied to KungFuSquirrel's topic in Past Contests / Challenges
That's a wrap! I'll be getting the voting thread together shortly so we have a bit more time than last round; I'm planning on closing the voting Saturday night so you'll have just about a week to review the entries. There's some killer entries here, btw, well done to all -

Hey guys, if you haven't, can you clearly mark what game/engine your entry is for? It looks like we're almost all Ep2/UDK with the exception of Serenius' Gears entry, but I want to be sure. -
Hey guys! I just wrapped up a new portfolio design and thought I'd toss it out to the crew here. http://button-masher.net/ It's not quite the single-page hotness all the cool kids are doing, but I've always liked grouping similar projects into their respective categories and to keep things from getting too bloated. That said, I removed one layer of depth from the site by putting all the information on the main category listing instead of requiring you to click through to each individual item. I'll probably keep tweaking the info bar on the right in the main content listings to find the best arrangement of all that text, but overall I feel a lot better about this one than my old one.

I used XFire when I added videos to my portfolio a few years ago. Not as good as fraps, but was free. (though I finally caved and bought fraps) -

Of course, we'll keep the usual break in between. Should give everyone some time to relax and get up to speed with the Portal tools. ...though I still want to try and run a weekend challenge in between
-
Hey, look at that, an SDK release What do you guys say, Portal 2 MapCore pack after the Door Challenge?

You're really looking at almost the same thing, It's all inputs and outputs and parameters, but Kismet just gives you a visual depiction of all the relationships instead of just putting them in lists. -
Fix mah editahr!11 ^ Get rid of that relative grid on object creation, windows constantly opening and closing and bumping the viewport around, and get world texture projection and I'll have to take a crack at making something
-
Yeah, they should. PSN trophies actually only sync to the server when you view them - otherwise they're only stored on your local profile. So, next time you connect and perform the sync operation, you're gold.

Can you post more information about the error you're seeing? I tested the file locally in the April build and did see a couple warnings on load but it still worked fine. The only crash I saw was attempting to load it in the March 2011 build. vivi, anything that should have been included that might be missing? -
