The potential for the things he will say ultimately stems from your story; But first person shooters don't often have a lot of story, or at least have a story simple enough that your character doesn't need to ask any questions; I mean, it's either "WE'RE AT WAR, KILL STUFF" or "AN EXPERIMENT HAS GONE WRONG, KILL STUFF." But you must commit, if he does speak, but not a lot, then he's just some boring guy that shoots stuff, because you haven't given him a character to replace the one axed out when he opened his mouth.

The problem people (at least Bush) have with gay marriage is nothing to do with people hating gays in the slightest. It has nothing to do with them being able to bare children, or warp their children or the fact it, apparently, goes against nature. It's because of religion, I know we have lots of trendy net atheists here who like to constantly, and ironically, state how other peoples beliefs are lesser to theirs, but that's kind of moot. marriage takes place in a big chapel, is carried out by priest and the vows are read out of a Holy Writ in front of a big statue of Jesus. Cock and bum fun is against Christian beliefs, so a country allowing gays to go in their to get married is going to anger a lot of people; especially the Church which isn't exactly a group of people you want to piss off. While most people accept gays and have nothing against them, whether or not they should be able to marry is still very-much open for debate and it does not make people homophobic or close-minded.
