The first version of 1001 Spikes is on XBLIG and easily one of the best games on there (although there's Protect Me Knight and nothing else). While it is a platformer where you die a lot and many of those deaths are a bit trial and error, I wouldn't lump it in with "lol hard platformers" that are just a constant stream of bullshit with a focus on firing you out the checkpoint as fast as possible. The mechanics and controls are solid and lots of the stages have some kind of puzzle element. It's on the Vita though, not PS4.

Killer Instinct is F2P. All characters but Jago need to be purchased seperately. As if organising an offline event on Xbone wasn't hard enough...

I'm hoping "roguelike" being used at E3 will make it too mainstream, and now people will stop using it to describe any game with a rand() function. Also: $500

I don't think it'll do a check every 24 hours, I think it'll just say 24 hours after your live connection goes down you can't use your console. Oops, I mean can't use your console for games. I don't think it's valid to compare this to Steam. Steam took the messing-about that was playing video games on PC and turned it into something a lot more elegant (ex: patching, driver updates, friend lists). Whereas this is taking something that is elegant already (put disc in, job done) and adding in a layer of messing-about.

I like Mushihime-sama Futari because being a fifteen year old princess, who rides a giant beetle and shoots enemies who explode into points, really makes you think.

One of the founders was a bystander in a police chase who got hit and killed. http://techcrunch.com/2013/06/01/oculus-vr-co-founder-andrew-scott-reisse-killed-at-33-the-victim-of-a-hit-and-run/

I think this is a fantastic case-of-point. Defence of the Ancients just added two new heroes: Kaolin, the Earth Spirit (who is kind of like a melee Syndra who places down rocks other skills interact with) and Nerif, the Oracle. Every single skill on the latter would never appear in League of Legends based on concepts like "burden-of-knowledge" and "anti-fun." And yet... they sound really interesting and it's clear how the hero could plug into interesting compositions.

Can they make another Warcraft now forty, twenty, ten random dudes have killed all the major characters? I guess they could set it in the past. Then they could come up with more characters to kill off with randoms in their WoW future.

False flagging videos is stupid. It looks like it was fixed in a few seconds, though. She lists all the games there are spoilers for in the description. Bionic Commando is one but not Uncharted. As far as I’m aware this is a dead trope in actual comic book circles because "dead men defrosting" turned out to be just as prolific. Being murdered to advance a plot around a central character is apparently all for equality. I did have some problems with the video but I think HP is right that discussing it here probably isn't too wise. I will say that she makes a lot of serious claims but evidence for those claims is never given. "This works in subtle and complicated ways" does not seem like a sufficient link for fantasy violence and real-life violence. I'm assuming her research entails actual studies, hard facts and statistics people could digest.

Strap yourselves in.

Well, I doubt he’s going to be a designer designer. He'll probably have some back end to mess around in. If he could really screw things up, accidental or not, Godus won't be printing F2P money.

wtf trynd stacking cdr dis nocturne no W gg lol tibbers without stun don't fight in baron pit noobs two man baron report my team LoL actually has some interesting lore in places, with factions and characters have relationships with each other... which is weird for a game where people are plucked randomly to fight each other. I guess DotA has the same thing with radiant/dire affiliations. Rumours are they're doing more games but they're all going to be e-sports focused, which is a shame because they really need some kind of action RPG to do this justice. They also really need to not make our scrubby Bronze 2 team fight three Diamond players during our promotional series. That'd be fantastic.

Are... are you a real person? You have like two other posts and one of them replies to someone who doesn’t exist... I do play League of Legends. As playing MOBA’s solo is masochistic, and many of my friends don’t like the competitive world of Summoner’s Rift, I’m usually playing ARAM’s or in our ranked Twisted Treeline team (Yeah, bronze II! Yeah!). Eh, yeah, about this... I’ve nothing against them adding new champions to keep the game evolving, for instance there are so many abilities and heroes in Defence of the Ancients that would provide instant spice and shake-up should they ever arrive in League of Legends... but they design everyone for zero boat-rocking. Like, this new pink Jedah Aatrox guy, what does he actually bring? What’s actually going to be different when he’s arrives with his £12 robot Jesus skin? He has the standard top-lane bruiser kit and “press R when team fight starts” ultimate. It’s almost like he was made to be the third successor to Rengar after Kha’Zix is nerfed into obscurity with him. Honestly, Lissandra was pretty interesting with Puck's Illusory Orb mechanic, but her ultimate is underwhelming: Why can't she ally cast it? Maybe they did consider this and it was just overpowered, but I worry it's because trolls burden-of-knowledge anti-fun. The interesting play potential is out-weighed by some idiot Ice Tombing their own Fiddlesticks during his channel. Whoa, this got ranty. I'm not mad or anything, it just feels like wasted potential.

I hope they've considered having the dog lick the jam off your face so you recover from injuries faster, and there's wacky comedy moments where it runs and picks up a hand-grenade and you have to tell him to drop it via Kinect. I played a few of the older Call of Duty's and two of the more recent seasonal ones. Alpha bravo hit-scan jam shooters aren't my thing, but it's no skin off my nose if they release more of them. In Goldeneye multiplayer everyone set their health to -10, rather than using the "License to Kill" mode, which meant you were a one-hit kill usually but you could absorb two extra hits if you collected armour. For some reason this picture reminded me of that. Edit: I noticed on twitter L337Lauren is complaining there are no female soldiers? But tha-- :siren: :siren: :siren: :siren:

Organising a fighting game tournament with Xbox One’s is going to be fun.

I make a one degree turn and walk away.

So... apparently this came third in the competition? I'm #1775 on coolness so I'm not really sure how this is all calculated. Either way... sweetabix.

I'm not playing this game because it's not out. But making a new thread for its announcement seemed overkill for various reasons. So yeah, I'm knowing posting in the wrong place. Call the cops! There's tonnes of stuff in here for the ubernerd. They show a bunch of techniques from the existing game to show they've not been removed (and thus the game engine has not been simplified), and visually the character animations seems to jump fast between key-frames representing the sprites from the 2D game. Looks kind of weird at first but it's grown on me really quick. I'm actually playing Neverwinter. Which is a silly game with silly stuff.

Bioshock: Infinite was at least three and a half arts. How many arts is System Shock 2?

Games journalism makes me nauseous so I haven’t been following this, but I saw Anna Anthropy on twitter complaining about Destructoid "outing" someone and I assume it's the same thing.

Source requires a lot more work and gamers have shifted to expecting only total conversions. Honestly, I wasn't blown away by Half-Life 2. Maybe it's because I went straight into it off the hype-train and staged preview videos. Underwhelming gun play, no enemy variety, long vehicle sections, My First Physics Puzzles, unskippable "cut-scenes," etc. The finale with the improved gravity gun was really cool until the "boss," I guess. I think the episodes are much better, if that's any consolation.
