Dude, are you implying that my caustic remark, somewhat weak in comparison to other posts of this forum, is somehow worthy the subtle threat of action by the moderators purely because it was aimed at the powers governing these forums? Being that the comment also was not directly relating to the status of the governing powers, are you also implying that the said powers believe themselves to be at a higher more divinitive state on the forum and that they see it principled to remove frequent posters for caustic remarks against them that would otherwise pass against the general bulk of the forum? Wait. Shit, sorry I broke it.

Dude, I just contributed to a forum gimmick that was originally amusing, how did it all go so TERRIBLY WRONG.

HAPPY WOMB ESCAPE DAY.

Most games are linear, First Person Shooters never, ever have decent stories anyway (evil government, experiment goes wrong covers Doom and Half-life) but they have a progression through the areas so you don't end up swamped with bigass monsters or visit a demon dimension before some obligatory sewer level. Doing 5 things in one area before moving on is still linear, just a better version of linear that isn't so in your face. Overly 'free' games have no plot, they have little balancing game wise and only GTA has done it right - and even that has linear mission sequences to gradually unlock new sections when you're strong enough and to advance the 'story.' The most non-linear games out are probably those highly American AD&D games with a million gay fucking elves like Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights, the biggest downfall is there's so daunting and have little to no plot throughout the course of the game, instead, when you get to certain 'progress' points it hurls as much story at you as it can and every NPC will talk to you for 5 hours about the upcoming prophesied Apocalypse. LAME. This is mainly done to make people use the editor to make their own campaigns, but only the small ones are any good, the others bore you to death or see you get swamped by 50,000 Dragons because you took an incorrect turn or were 'curious' to where that portal went. And MMORPGs don't even have progress points, you'll just here 500 pages of history from anyone you talk to, that's the entire depth of the game. DD: You're not an asshole, you're just a misguided fool trying to take after some of the more successful assholes and it isn't working in the slightest because you have no idea when to apply your asshole persona.

I haven't seen it yet, and I'm skeptical. I'm lazy, copy paste rant.

Needs more goths.

It takes too much effort to find. I was just being optimistic about the materials, which is like the first time I've been optimistic ever, and look where it got me. I'm going to try and up the bitterness a little to compensate, if that's possible.

Oh please, I know the difference between a {textured rail and a clip brush. It probably was a placeholder, but there's no need to patronize.
-
Placeholders maybe. Clip? Errr... no. But the beta is in-game and everything is flat and detail-less, I presumed this was in correlation with it not having the uber material settings that it apparently doesn't actually have.
-
So how are they placed with brushes? Or are they not and it's just an old/odd WC shot? That's what I thought at first, but in the beta everything looks horrible and flat with { textures everywhere, nothing like the actual screenshots... CONFUSED.
-
There was a big thing about you specifying hulls in the million different material options. In the prison wc screenshots the rails are { textures, in game they're 3D, same for the flat-ass walls and { in the material-fileless beta and offical screenshots. It might be something else but that's the impression i got, kind of a normal mapping for brushes.
-
I know Zappy, but I assume you want parts in your model more detailed than what worldcraft can provide at 1x. Silly idea anyway. Eitherway HL2 MAPPING is going to be really simple in comparison to HL1 - what with materials doing all the work for you and discoraged brush detailing. They even have their own hulls, flat window texture -> 3d indented window. What do you need to make these uber textures and details? Models. Being that WC 'skills' are barely needed you might as well start learning to model instead because it ain't going to be long before you are redundant. GGTHXNORE.
-
You can export WC maps to a model format of some kind if I remember correctly. I'm sure if you're really incompetent you can model your super detailed barrel in wc3 at 10x scale (for super details), piss about converting it and slap a skin on it.

I wonder if he's going to get her to shoot an injured guy in the chest over the phone again. Twice. Once to cripple him even more so he poses no threat and allows her to escape to the woman waiting downstairs and a second because, despite being completely unnecessary, it's fun to kill people.

Yay, it's Kung Fu Squirrel, apparently. No Professional Victim kthx.

Any Tom, Dick or Harry can make a flat photo of a wall tile, although there's an 'art' to some textures.
-
Yes, that's exactly what it's not. But fruity nevertheless.
