  1. There's a fix to add the fancy shaders for DX7/8 cards so you get the cool water effects and everything too, it's on one of the older PCG DVDs and is probably found on Steam as well no doubt.

    Doom III

I think that's just the demons messing with your head, stuff like that happens several times during the game (ie; chairs flying about, corpses being launched at you, a vision of skeletons and bloodstained hallways..

    Doom III

Yeah, but I suck If you're having problems running the game then turn the detail down, in all honesty it looks great in all detail modes and medium is a nice balance between good graphics and smooth gameplay oh and turn off 'Antialiasing' it really doesn't make much of a difference if you ask me, plus it costs shitloads of fps. Ok I've just reached Delta Labs, the Recyling sectors and the Monorail were really cool, that fight with not one.. not two.. but three fucking mancubi.. christ man, and I was complaining about Com transfer.. Still, they're fucking nicely made and the sounds they make are true to the original doom. Revenants are good too and a bitch to fight with in close combat... ouch!
  4. That shot reminds me of the Oblivion Q2SP MOD that was released awhile back.. Sounds like an interesting idea, it would be cool to fight Strogg on home turf

    Doom III

Ok I thought I'd make a new topic rather than piss about with the other thread. Yes, I know just about all of you have already played it to death by now and either loved it or hated it or are somewhere in between, but I'm playing it now for the first time and it's my turn to comment! The one word that everyone uses and I'm in total agreement with is 'dark' some areas are so pitch black by the time you realise there's about 5 zombies in a corner you've already had your head ripped off! The enemies are really cool, well animated and modelled and the set pieces are really good. I still can't get over how good this game looks on my system (I'll post my system shots when I'm done), it's only on medium and to be honest I don't think there's really much difference between that and high from the screens I've seen.. One criticism is the item/enemy placement, I was in 'Communications Transfer' and I came into a room that had three Z-sec zombies in it and then two Cacodemons spawned in, followed by five imps after that. I was at 20% health and what is there to patch you up with after that big fight? A measley small med kit, to make matters worse there were like three imps in the next room too.. I just managed to make it.. just. Also it annoys me how just about everytime you pickup some health or ammo, imps spawn in to rain on your parade leaving you with less health than you started with before picking up the medkit!! I'm still impressed though, although it's not really scary (although there are some ambient sound effects that made me feel a bit uneasy) I've jumped loads of times, but ultimately the combat becomes predictable so you're prepared for demons to spawn in or for a zombie to break out of a hidden alcove in the dark. The torch/gun thing is a bit annoying but ultimately not life threatening unless you're a complete berk who can't press the 'F' key as quick as possible! Still, I'm only at the Monorail Skybridge, so I'm not even half-way through yet, so we'll see how the rest pans out.

    whos going?

    Nah, sadly.
  7. Got it thanks mate. Pretty good stuff there, I look forward to more media!
  8. Current specs: AMD Athlon 1600XP 1.4ghz 512MB DDR RAM GF 4 TI 4200 128MB 16x CD-ROM DVD-ROM Sound Blaster Live! I'm running Doom 3 on medium settings at 800x600.. not sure how but there really isn't much of a performance difference between that and 640x480 on low.. which is weird seeing as the textures are compressed in that mode and they aren't in medium. A little slowdown when there's too much on screen but nothing to worry about really... I think I'll be able to run HL2 to near enough the highest settings in which case. This is now going to be 'the games D3 recently completed' thread whereby you'll come across titles you probably played somewhere along the line 4 years ago but I haven't been able to.. so nyeh. Of course there will be the definative HL2 Vs D3 section, but I think we both know who's going to win that one... or maybe not. Ok, back to the UAC base, I hear something nasty lurking in the darkness ahead...
  9. Video?!! LINK LINK LINK LINK!!!!!!
  10. I asked on this forum if anyone knew what the problem was as well, but no one suggested the RAM being at fault.. you guys suck! I would've looked at the motherboard manual but it wouldn't of made any sense back in the day.. Oh and the RAM was actually in slots 1 and 2 when I got it, I didn't touch the inside at all! Yeah yeah Mazzle, I'll move onto VC eventually.. and SA is out soon.. gonna kick total ass!
  11. You should be able to order it I would of thought, just use the overseas delivery? I dunno man..
  12. PC had problems for about 4 years, thought it was graphics card, but it turned out that the RAM sticks were in the wrong slots because it's a duel layer setup  Been playing GTA III a lot recently, runs so smooooooth (Yeah I know every man and his dog have finished it by now... shaddaup!)

  14. Congrats dude, make sure you protect your child from the horrors of pop music and everything will be fine
  15. Epic: making good engines and boring games since 1998.. We'll see how this goes..
  16. The latest issue of PCG UK has an 8 page spread on Q4 with new shots and info about the upcoming Quake II sequel, it also states that it will possibly be released by Christmas time. If anyone with said issue wants to scan in the pages that'd be cool unless someone's done that already, I have no time to do it myself. Shots look pretty good but I hope that they'll be more detail on the model skins in the final version, they look a bit boring at the moment. The outside screenshot with the flags is pretty damn good and is just what I was expecting. Only criticism is.. what the fuck is with the grey skies?!! I want ORANGE damnit, KFS.. you and me need to have words again!
  17. ..that my pc was fixed and it is now thanks to work! I bought my current system about 4 years ago for about £700 (top of the range back then of course) and I was always having problems with it but seeing as I was on Windows 98 I just accepted that as the problem and eventually learned to live with the crashes and error messages. A few years later I'd moved onto XP and I still had the problems but I'd changed some hardware so I figured it must be something to do with drivers, so I spent a lot of time trying to change that to no avail. The problems were always there but I had other things to worry about so I just left it how it was, occasionally playing games dealing with blue screens or 'desktop-kicks' in between parts. Recently I was actually beginning to come to the end of my teather with the thing so I asked around to see if anyone could help out (I'd asked before on various message boards but no one seemed to know what the problem was). Anyway work said that they'd take a look at it, so I took it on wednesday for the experts to mess about with it. We tried changing drivers again, moving the graphics card over to another machine to prove that the card wasn't the problem, disabled the sound card and graphics vice versa. Eventually one of my collegues pointed out that the RAM may be faulty so I tested each 256 stick to see what would happen and then for the first time in since forever, I was able to drive around the streets of GTA III for a good hour with no problems, thus concluding that the RAM worked but there was something up with the connections. Finally they suggested that it may be a dual layer DIM setup which meant that rather than having the sticks in slots 1 and 2 they needed to be in either 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. So we tried that, stuck them in 1 and 3.. and voila.. problem solved!! You see you'll think I'm an idiot, but until recently I was never much for delving into the inside of a pc, I didn't want to touch the components in case something happened (daft I know..). I'd never of guessed in a million years that it was the RAM at fault, it really is amazing how big a problem such a small thing can cause. On the downside, my social life is really going to go down the pan now, but on the plus side... the VERY BIG plus side, I can run just about anything with no problems at all (even Doom III). I've got about 15 odd games I haven't been able to play until now so I'm pretty spoilt for choice and then of course there's the stuff I HAVEN'T got. So yeah, I'm pretty damn happy at the moment, there aint really anything that can spoil this as well...I still sit playing for hours thinking that there's gonna be a blue-screen, but it doesn't happen anymore. I've also ordered a new motherboard and 3.2ghz CPU, more RAM and a 160gb HDD so soon I will be catching up with you bastards! So now I'll be able to actually get HL2 running, possibly medium detail or something, I wont fuss, Hell.. Doom III looks great on the lowest setting IMHO.. Ok, I'm done- you can laugh now.
  18. BHD > all I shan't bother to watch this movie for the sole reason that it has Orlando fucking Bloom in it again, God I fucking hate him..
  19. It was released last year I think, but it's not easy to find, even harder to track down is the Silent Hill 2 director's cut for PC. The room is the easiest to get hold of for obvious reasons. I really wish they'd release RE0 / RE remake from the cube on the pc..
  20. similar != the same
  21. Really? I had you down as a big fan.. D: Where's Taylor when you need him...
  22. I've not got a console, but I know that Three and Four are out on the PC, what about the others? Which one's the best as well? I hear 3 is the dog's bollocks. I've played a bit of the first one but it was awhile ago and I don't remember a great deal, one of those games series I've never really got round to checking out...
  23. Yeah, they look exactly the same don't they.. I should also point out that this is the work of one man and one man only.. very impressive from that point, this guy has miles of talent.
  24. They had more enemies than the ones down at the moment, but I think they're still making updates to the enemies page so expect to see them back again. I think there were some oddities that would rival the Silent Hill games for total 'fucked-up-ness'...
