  1. I play as the Human Torch and just light up the entire screen with fire.

Apparently some people find this annoying.

I know not you since you were giggling like a little school girl.

    Flame on!

  2. Mikey, Fletch, Algor, and 2 other guys from work and myself traded off playing 4 person Marvel Ultimate Alliance last night. It was quite fun, though annoying at some parts: One boss required you to lure explosive enemies into the a teleporter, though the thing is, with 4 people they never get close to the teleporter and would explode rather away from it. It took more than 20 minutes on that boss until it randomly decided to walk those enemies into the teleporter itself and end the battle.

Also explosive barrels suck. Period. There is nothing like trying to avoid a boss since you are low on health only to have it throw fire in your direction, explode a barrel, and kill you, even though you thought you were out of the barrels radius. :(

  3. Titan mode is a lot of fun (and you can gain a lot of XP playing it), but it's laggy as all hell. Part of the problem is the Titans are pilotable by the commander, meaning the inside play space is constantly moving, meaning all those turrets, shields, and players are constantly being refreshed by the server. Hopefully they'll patch it to account for the lag. I'm still having fun with the game, and I find the new XP system really compliments teamplay behaviors, which I appreciate. If you want to lone wolf it, you can still end up with 20 points a round, but if you guard points, resupply teammates, provide cover fire, and work as a squad, you can end each round with 50-100 points and level up extremely fast.

Oh, and the buddy system works flawlessly. Valve should be feeling a lot of shame right now that they can't get theirs to work.

  4. From what I saw and tried in the demo then I could already see that BF2 had everything I wanted, and this was just fluffy filler. I think almost everybody agrees that this should've been released as an addon :G

Not just that, It should be released as a "sorry-for-screwing-with-our-costumers-in-the-first-place-here's-alittle-FREE-sorry-from -us"

You are a god damned business genius. Quit wasting your superior intellect here. Quickly! You can save the world!

  5. he looks like a character from seventh heaven or one of those shows on wb that has a bunch of teens and only 40 year olds watch

    :D

Yeah well this Dell deal is handled in a pretty sleazy way. Questions like "What did you spend your annual bonus on?" were for example only displayed for the employes who identically answered "DELL Ultrasharp 24'' TFT 10024i1084012840812x PiXMA blabalala"... things like that annoy me.

People scoff, but that really is what most people spent their bonus on. It's a fucking swet monitor.

yeah, i'd get that 30" if i had the money.

The thirty inch is actually shit. It doesn't come with the variety of inputs that the 24 inch does (thus no hooking up your dvd player or consoles). It doesn't have the card reader. And it's dual-DVI, so you're gonna need a card to support it. The 24 (while smaller) is still ridiculously big and has so many wonderful features that it's totally worth the $750 price point. You're basicaly getting a monitor and a TV.

  7. The funny thing is that a lof of the banking and market research firms covering the video game industry are still betting that Sony will "win" this generation of the console war as they did with PS1 and PS2, where "win" means "sell the most." Their main point is that the ridiculous power of the Sony brand (worldwide especially) is going to give the PS3 a huge advantage regardless of pricepoint or launch line up or lack of exclusive GTA IV. But also from within this branding arguement we must note that this launch will be rockier than PS2, mainly because X360 is in a lot better shape than the Sega Dreamcast was relative to the PS2 for also having launched ahead of time against a Sony console.

Can't wait to get a Wii.

Well I think at this point it simply comes down to the fact that Sony knows they can get this much money off of stupid fanboys, so they're going to charge $700 a pop. When bluray costs come down, so will the PS3, and they'll start taking market share. The real question is how well the 360 and the Wii can claim market share in the meantime.

  8. bf2142

    Its a really good game.

more like "BF2 with less vehicles and weapons but mechas" or "unlock the frag grenades on the internet"

it gets REALLY annoying when you play it at a LAN with your friends, and that you can't unlock the basic skills you already had in bf2

    thank you EA

I agree it could suck on a LAN, but I find it to be a lot of fun on the internet. The leveling system is well thought out and forces you to invest in certain types of combat experiences if oyu want to get better (i.e. you can get more XP by learning to support teammates and follow orders, which also happen to teach you to play better as a teammate). If you're not sold on it, wait for it to drop to $30 in a few months. It will be well worth it at that price point.

  9. I got it today, and I'm pretty happy with it. The weapons work a lot better than the demo weapons (the sniper rifle actually hits people!) and the leveling system actually seems better designed to reward quality playing vs spam tactics. Also, people seem to have settled down when it comes to the new vehicles, they tend to actually use them effectively vs running off and playing with them.

Plus, they seem to have combined my two favorite classes (spec ops and sniper), so I'm very happy with my newfound death bringing.

  10. "In the latest CGW podcast, they received retail boxed copies of BF 2142.

When you open the box, a big slip of paper falls out first, preceeding any discs or manuals. The slip of paper says, essentially, that 2142 includes monitoring software which runs while your computer is online, and records "anonymous" information like your IP address, surfing habits (probably via cookie scans), and other "computing habits" in order to report this information back to ad companies and ad servers, which generates in-game ads.

Now, I can live with certain in-game ads (though apparently there will be Dodge truck and Neon ads in the bleak, futuristic world of 2142), but including a lengthy description - outside of even the Eula - seems to indicate even EA knows that this is some shady borderline spyware shit. I don't support it and won't be buying 2142 (for a host of other reasons, too)."

I think "FUCK OFF!" is a good response to that!

Having been following the media more carefully, Quake Wars is looking like the more appealing of the two. I don't know if you guys have seen the videos on gametrailers.com, but the engineer deploys buildings in an RTS-like fashion and everything. It looked really good, while BF2142 looks a bit too much like Battlefield 2.

I guess I'll see since I'll inevitable get both anyway.

Some DICE employees have posted to say that it only tracks how many ingame ads you render per session and doesn't track internet usage outside of the game. So I'm torn. I'm inclined to believe DICE, yet I distrust EA.
