I will second minos, especially regarding dbz kai. I binge watched dragon ball super a couple years ago as an almost 30 year old and loved almost every second of it. The animation quality compared to dragon ball, dbz, and gt is pretty shit but once I got over that, Super became something I wanted to keep watching. Which is a rare thing for me to say because the only other series I've binge watched was Game of Thrones, which I stopped watching completely after season 4 or 5.

Look up Dragon Ball Z Kai, it's an official recut/remaster with all the fluff removed. The pacing is soooo much better
DBZ is even more watchable now than before imo. It made me appreciate how it's such a deep and consistent world!

Honestly they would "win" more by investing more in the actual software and maybe a little less on the free games. One of the reasons Steam is the go to for consumers, its largely due to features.

Do it! It's a very relaxing experience to fly around the maps by yourself. The sound team does an amazing job, which is not very noticeable when you are playing the game.
Found a good video where you can hear the audio pretty well:

Just a note that I've done some minor updates:
Some headings were invisible, now they're visible. The articles sidebar used some old custom code that was a real pain to make look right on all screens (phones, tablets, desktops). I gave it a go but it still looked pretty busted on mobile. Given we don't really have many articles nowadays I've removed it for now, as there are other mechanisms such as announcements and Twitter that can be used to give a heads-up about new articles. The latest software allows our Twitter feed to be shown in the sidebar. This seemed like a nice way of filling that void for now, although if it turns out to not work so well we could put something else there like a latest activity feed. Spotlight (Our Picks) is now more condensed in the sidebar.

    Great insights, keep them coming!
The more I think about VR, the more I think that it's a misconception that it's a "replacement"  for real life. Just like any other new media, it will have its own applications and uses, and we are barely scratching the surface of what's possible. I really have no interest to play games where you shoot robots or zombies (like 90% of VR games). But visiting the Cologne Cathedral in VR was a great experience.
VR is in a strange space right now, because it's too small to make quality projects financially feasible, so most of the stuff we see is sub-par mobile games trying to make a quick buck. There are some interesting experiences, but they are all very niche. Honestly, it's a very exciting space, kind of like the internet before Facebook ruined it all

I am in an interesting situation now where I have been active with metaverse content creation for a few years. I noticed that player numbers have been exploding in the VR club scene recently so I decided to genuinely take it seriously and build a new venue of my own and fully apply my game dev experience. Up until recently its been a more casual thing but now its a full time job. I have learned an immense amount of stuff from how to design social worlds to the kinds of communities that exist and what they want. Its very closely linked to Discord right now so most discords have active communities within the metaverse. VRChat is the largest VR metaverse I am aware of but its not the only one. I have been pretty active regarding talking to devs of other metaverses such as Chill out VR and NEOS. I think I have over 3000 hours on VRC alone but I know people personally who basically live in VR and almost never leave, they sleep in VR.
The social experience of VR is insanely good, It feels like you are actually with your friends hanging out. Its the one thing VR provides that nothing else can compete. Social media cannot compete with the visceral feeling of chilling with friends in VR. If you are within any of the social circles around me now you will meet and talk to hundreds if not thousands of people within the first few months of playing, I am not kidding or exaggerating. Its hyper social to a point that I cannot even remember peoples names. My brain is at its limits and its been this way for awhile. I am an extremely social person as well. I have never experienced anything even close to this before.
    ----------------
Ok so with the above in mind this is why I say VR requires a hyper social metaverse archetype. Its the on thing VR provides that nothing else really can compete with. Games like Second Life were ahead of their time but its no where near the immersive experience of actually feeling like you are really there talking to people. Seeing people in full body and recognizing them because of their avatar in a night club is amazingly cool. And as we begin going down the rabbit hole of face tracking and improved development tools quality will improve at an exponential rate.
There is a lot of money in full body tracking. But it has almost no real application outside of a social environment.
There is a lot of money in facial tracking. But it has no real application outside of a social environment. (Facial tracking in VR with the right people is weaponized cuteness)
There is a lot of money in avatars and accessories. But these kinds of things are out of scope for anything but a social environment.
There is a lot of money in providing tactile senses while in VR. But something like this would barely be a gimmick for something like HLA but for a social platform it would probably disrupt the entire porn industry.
If you bullet point all of the cool advancements that are coming to VR you will quickly realize that its all best used in a highly social environment. People who are confused about VR ever being able to catch on right now or view it as a gimmick are simply missing the boat.
On another note : I was considering the idea of setting up a monthly game dev drink up at my venue. A VR gamedev drink up would pretty awesome I think.
I think it would also be a good way to show and explain the stuff I am talking about.

Sorry to hear about that. I was in a similar situation, haven't been back to Brazil in years and bought tickets to go with my gf last year. We were supposed to fly in April, but then covid hit. Looks like we won't be able to go for a while :S

So fucking good! Really fun to read the breakdown, I love how instead of a step by step, it's just a journal of the journey. Looking forward to watching the night lighting tutorial

I wanted to document my lighting process, so I recorded myself doing that night scene. It's sorta long (3.5 hours) but I hope it helps someone. Plus, it's free so you can't say uncle HP has never done anything for you

I actually learned a lot making this. One thing is to never narrate these things at 1am, I was a bit too whispery.

    Hey guys,
Finally got around to make a short breakdown of the Source 2 scene I made a while ago. I made sure I took a few WIP screenshots as I worked on it, so I could do a thorough breakdown later on, so here you have it.
This engine is really fun to work with, you can model nearly everything in editor, just like you could back in the BSP era, I really hope to see more engines (specifically Unity/Unreal) follow suit, as removing the need to use so many third party apps from your workflow really makes making maps a lot more fun.

(Had to divide it into two parts, as ArtStation limits the amount of characters per post.)

    Another weekend, another update
I just finished recording a "crash course" on making textures, by using a combination of Substance Designer, Photoshop and Zbrush. I start from zero and assume that you never used SD or Zbrush before, and walk through the tools I use the most. Still a lot of polish to do with these, but I'm digging how graphic they look already

I think the style is starting to become clear for me now. I don't want it to be super stylized, but not super realistic either. Hyperreal would be how I'd describe it

    Hey mapcore,

I`ve just released my latest tutorial for creating a current generation Drone model for videogames in Blender and Substance Painter!

The tutorial covers the entire creation process for the Drone from scratch in over 25 hours of 4k video. Everything is recorded in realtime and fully commented on. The course also comes with a 4,5 hour introduction to Blender chapter, that will teach you the software from scratch. In addition to modeling in Blender, you will learn how to texture the asset using Substance Painter and render it in Blender's built-in, Evee real-time renderer.

More images can be found on my artstation and I`ve uploaded the model to sketchfab as well if you`d like to check it out in your browser in 3D. For more information on the course, make sure to check out the trailer.

I`m looking forward to your version of the drone!

For the next 72 hours, you can get the course for 20% off its regular price using the link below:
