I was having horrible back pains from my old mattress and in a moment of desperation and desire to fix the problem I took a huge gamble and paid a shit ton of money for a fancy Tempurpedic memory foam mattress. According to reviews it was supposed to be the second coming of Christ, the one amazing mattress that will give you 15 years of perfect sleep... But turns out I really hate the memory foam feel and after a few months it started to give me different kinds of pains. In the end I had to spend another $400 for a latex mattress topper to make it feel more like a normal mattress, which completely defeats the purpose of the damn mattress... ? (besides, memory foam really sucks for making love) If I could go back in time I would just buy a regular Ikea mattress (like the one I had before that lasted 9 great years), and invested on a high quality mattress topper to control how firm/soft it is. Oh well, now I know a lot about mattresses at least. If you are shopping and need some pointers hit me up and I can give you a quick rundown

Nice stuff, the ivy looks great I prefer the more saturated green from the previous screenshots, but last ones look pretty cool too!

Had an urge to watch a monster movie and ran into this UK version of Gamera (1995) that adds techno to key scenes. Makes the movie even better and more epic Impressive city models on this one, and the pacing is very good. Just got the Bluray set with the 90s trilogy, looking forward to watching the next ones Great fun! 8/10

The only thing that doesn't deserve respect here are your posts. They are nothing but attacks, bullying and humiliation of people that have different opinions than you. You don't even back your opinions with useful information that might persuade others to understand your point... you just try to make others look like fools and retards ?

You want to put experimental technologies in your body, then by all means, go for it, more power to you, it's your right to do so. If you don't want to do it, because of whatever personal reasons you have, that's fine too. Let's just respect each others' choice and stop the gaslighting/virtue signaling

This was a great podcast, with excellent and clear information:

I actually picked it up again (after trying it before and not liking it), but second time, I actually quite like it Love what they do with the gameplay once you unlock a few abilities. Can tell they put a lot of love in this game!

The remake could have been a masterpiece (it's from the same director as Elite Squad, the dude knows how to make gritty violent movies). However, the studio interfered creatively a ton, and mandated that the movie be PG 13

More like Start New Game Excited to try this some point in the future! Glad to see you can port UE4 projects to it. + 1 about brush modeling. I tried a few options for Unity and none of them work as well as Hammer. They are either a bit laggy, or just weird in general (liek in ProBuilder I keep losing the pivots and weird shit like that). And there's also other really stupid shit, like you can snap translate and scale, but not rotation with ProGrids! (And Unity default rotation snap gives me fractional numbers sometimes). It's hard to believe how they spend so much time and work into huge esoteric features, while basic things like those are either overlooked or non-existent

I was thinking about why our maps are so replayable the other day too, compared to other games I've played. This is a completely subjective answer, but I think one of the major reasons is the amount of themes we have in maps. For example, in Hanamura you have the city (which is made of just a few reusable buildings), the dojo and then the temple. Basically 4 or 5 different main themes (city, garden, dojo, temple + futuristic city in the backdrop). For Numbani, it's even more uniform, with small variations here and there. In a way, this makes these maps less overwhelming to take in, since the brain doesn't need to comprehend so many different structures/themes/surfaces, while at the same time trying to think of strategies and react to the action in the map. That takes a lot of brain power! Having more controlled and well defined themes also help a ton with navigation, so you don't have to think too much when running around the map. As comparison, I played a bit of Rogue Company the other day (the environment art looks sick in that game!), but I found that the maps suffered from too many different themes. I remember a map that took place in an skyscraper, and inside the skyscraper you had a mall, a car museum, an egyptian museum, a Mesopotamian museum and a rooftop garden (if I remember correctly). It was very overwhelming to navigate, since there were too many different details and themes. This argument can also be said about CS. The most replayed maps are usually the ones with more uniform and easily comprehendible themes, such as Dust, Aztec, Inferno (especially the old one), Nuke, Assault etc... There's a sweet spot when a map is not too simple and not too complex, and while art is a major component, level design and lighting play huge roles too. I was never a big fan of Prodigy, while it looked cool, the design was very complex and sprawling and the lighting was very uniform throughout the map (this is another criticism I have for a lot of new CS:GO maps that I see these days, they are all uniformly lit, with little sense of direction). Anyways, this is a good subject to jam over some beers

Watched another one of Adam Curtis' gems on Amazon Prime. This one is about how we gave away control to machines and adopted theories that see everything and everyone as just agents in a system, a system that supposedly can be tweaked to try to achieve stability. But as history and science shows, nature isn't stable and is constantly changing and human psychology is inherently chaotic. Attempts to control them, even if well intentioned, often lead to catastrophes in the past. Anyways, nice history lesson with amazing footage from the past. It's hard to believe this guy has so much space at BBC

Damn, I've been looking for a tool like that for ages! (Even worked on one of my own, tho not as fancy as that one )

Sorry to hear times are tough for you. If you get tired of UK gloom, in California there's someone that loves you... (saw that on my way to groceries lol)

Look up Dragon Ball Z Kai, it's an official recut/remaster with all the fluff removed. The pacing is soooo much better DBZ is even more watchable now than before imo. It made me appreciate how it's such a deep and consistent world!

It really depends, what's the quality level? What's the team's experience level? What tools are they using? If they are using Duke 3D editor you could literally make a map per day, but if you are aiming for PS5 graphics you will need a big team and tons of time to make just one map...

@Castle is this you? Great insights, keep them coming! The more I think about VR, the more I think that it's a misconception that it's a "replacement" for real life. Just like any other new media, it will have its own applications and uses, and we are barely scratching the surface of what's possible. I really have no interest to play games where you shoot robots or zombies (like 90% of VR games). But visiting the Cologne Cathedral in VR was a great experience. VR is in a strange space right now, because it's too small to make quality projects financially feasible, so most of the stuff we see is sub-par mobile games trying to make a quick buck. There are some interesting experiences, but they are all very niche. Honestly, it's a very exciting space, kind of like the internet before Facebook ruined it all

Sorry to hear about that. I was in a similar situation, haven't been back to Brazil in years and bought tickets to go with my gf last year. We were supposed to fly in April, but then covid hit. Looks like we won't be able to go for a while :S This shit seems to keep coming and going in waves...
