  1. yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada Led Zeppelin.

    Awesome.

But damn that was cheesy.  I think the Black Ops 2 and MW3 TV spots were more on point with what CoD was trying to achieve.

Still gonna get Destiny though.  Nothing can turn that ship around!

  2. Half-Life (plus expansions and sequels)

Warcraft 3 (and Frozen Throne and that other MMO game...crap what was it called...?)

    Full Throttle

    Borderlands

Jedi Knight II (OMFG was this game amazing)

GTA V.  Best game in the series imo

Lol you turd! You forgot S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Mercenaries (the first one)

    Man, egg on your face.

    oh...

  3. Rewatched this a few times...

I mean...it'll be another CoD campaign/story so how amazing can it be? I'm assuming roughly 5 hours long.  I must say it does feel a bit like Black Ops 2 which I admit I enjoyed.  Right now I'm feeling more positive about the SP compared to Ghosts which felt uninspired.

eh...giving it a chance at least.

  4.

Exactly, it was more of an interactive story rather than a game IMO.

Da fuck dude? lol Last of Us felt more of a game than the last 4 Call of Duty games did.

We keep this up, we're gonna be discussing if games art all over again.

    What HP said.

  5. (FYI tl;dr at the bottom for your convenience...)

MOBA is basically dominated by F2P.  I'm looking at data all the time and as an up front purchase model (ie, $60 for a Xbox One / PS4 / PC premium AAA yada yada...) MOBA is really tricky.  Valve basically did it with DOTA 2 given it was an upfront purchase to get into the "open-closed" beta before it went truly F2P a year ago.  And yes, many who got into LoL bought a bundle pack up front with currency etc.

But on console no one has really done MOBA as a business that scaled.  For MOBA to really work as F2P you've got to get big user numbers.  On PC this is much more feasible than on console given the global reach of PC is much larger.  Even if you get a few million people to download your F2P console MOBA, you need some seriously high revenue per paying users to make the model scale well.  This all assumes that Battleborn will have a significant budget. I can't imagine Gearbox pulling it off for a small amount of money.  That's just not how Gearbox (or any other AAA developer) has operated.  LoL and DOTA 2 both had big dev budgets, granted they were spread out over time and the live ops costs are very significant.  Thus the assumption is that BB is not small budget.  (If I'm wrong GB, let me know.)

    Soooooo....

    1) I can't see how this could be F2P and actually succeed.

    2) If it's pay up front like traditional console/AAA product, then how exactly will the MOBA model work?   If I pay $60 up front I sure as hell won't want to sink more money into it unless I have an incredibly compelling reason to.  Maybe Gearbox figured this out.  Of course, there is the question of DLC vs. buying virtual currency for quicker upgrades etc...but that $60 would still be in the back of my mind...

    3) If the model is traditional AAA, and if the F2P model isn't really going to work, then maybe this game will depart from "traditional" MOBA in some way.  After all, Borderlands games best known for co-op multiplayer...so it's possible Battleborn is some kind of extension of how that worked.

    tl;dr version:

I'm not sold on the concept for business reasons but it's all speculation right now.  I've seen a million MOBA pitches lately and they are all fucking terrible.  Maybe this one bucks the trend and is doing something "refreshingly different?"

  6. ...

And I just read some news that the world cup had more viewers than the NBA in the US. Glad you guys are finally enjoying the game :)

I thought it was NHL finals.  In any event, awesome World Cup so far.

  7. So isn't Group G the only one where all 4 countries are technically still in it?

    1) If USA and Germany tie, they both advance and Ghana and Portugal are eliminated

    2) If either USA or Germany wins, that team advances but for the losing team, if Ghana and Portugal tie then both Ghana and Portugal are out and the loser of USA/Germany advances

    3) If there is a winner in Ghana/Portugal and a winner in USA/Germany, then the winner of Ghana/Portugal only advances if their goal differential is greater than the loser of USA/Germany, right?

    4) If #3 happens, then if Germany is the loser of its game then it would have to lose badly along with the winner of Ghana/Portugal winning by a big margin to overcome the current German +4 GD and overcome either the current -1 GD or Portugal's -4 GD.

    OR...

Am I misunderstanding that if there is a tie for points they will go by the GD first, then by heads up who beat whom like in NFL or something?

Regardless, futbol is quickly overtaking football as my favorite spectator sport.

  8. I finally

beat the Union Suppository heist last fucking night.  Or was it Depository?  Yes, I got the game the day it came out last year.  Shows what 2 kids will do to your playing time.

In any event, I met with a Take 2 exec at E3 and asked about if my PS3 singleplayer progress would carry over to PS4 and he said yes. Then I checked elsewhere and it was GTA Online that would carry over and not singleplayer.  Then I checked wikipedia and it said GTA Online only.

Then I thought (since I don't play much of the GTA Online) that if this is one of the few console games I like so much that I'd be willing to play it over again would I pay $60 to do so for whatever improvements come with the PS4 version?  It's really tempting me.

  9. Everyone is fine with the seer kid dying. Even his sister is over it pretty quickly. Only exists to bring Bran to creep old Warg guy. I thought Bran was told in a dream

he was the three eyed crow so I'm a little confused what's going on there. Either way he's going to become the super witch.

I wonder if The Hound is actually dead or is going to come back like his brother, Frankenmountain. And if Frankenmountain will have a different actor.

Looking forward to Arya reuniting with cool assassin dude.

Dragon Lady plot remains boring and linear even in the series finale.

    Pretty much.

At first I was rooting for The Hound, but then I realized Brienne of Tarth is pretty cool in her own way...at least a cool character despite her obvious awkwardness.  Then I didn't know whom to root for. Then I started rooting for Arya to intervene and stop the fight and they'd all join forces (Brienne and Pod with Arya and The Hound) and there would be this double wedding (uh...once Arya is of age) and they'd start this new house destined to become strong but just rulers who destroy the bad guys and bring peace and rainbows throughout the land.

Then I came to my senses and realized that in the end they'll all probably die so whatever.

  10. how was it man ?

Exceeded my expectations.  So basically you have an open world type stealth/action game...what they showed was Afghanistan.  So it basically felt like Red Dead Redemption...you even have a horse.  HOWEVERS...you can fulton just about anything.  Those things end up back at your mother base, even the people you knock out.  They become resources that you can "spend/utilize" for upgrades and etc.  Sure, it had that metal gear feel to it which I know feels "Japanese arcade-y" but it sure did smack of Kojima's desire for humor in the game.  Your mother base is basically a platform in the ocean that you upgrade and grow over time. It's like a growing level in itself....which can be attacked and your defenses will respond, including other NPC friendlies.  I really liked that idea...a lot.

Otherwise the gameplay itself is like what is in Ground Zeroes though they claim the world in Phantom Pain is 200x larger.

Still unsure about Keifererthfer (no offense, I love 24) as Snake but eh the more I hear of him in the role the more I am fine with him.

As for the story, it's Metal Gear....so I'm feeling a bit like this:

    About fulton system:

    http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Fulton_surface-to-air_recovery_system )

  11. 1) Saw the Batman Arkham Knight demo...as a fan I felt serviced. At the end I felt like shouting "take my money, please"

    2) Witcher 3...oh man looks good ever more so after watching at Warner booth.

    3) Played a bunch of stuff at the Nintendo booth.  Splatoon was oddly fun but is it worth a whole game?

    4) Smashbros DS.  Yes, but I don't play 3DS games.

    5) Mario Maker. About f'ing time!

    6) Evolve.  Played it.  Man is it fun.  Really...just damn fun.

    7) Bordlands Pre Sequel - it's borderlandsier.  I'm a fan. Low G is their answer to mech suit jumping.  But with that Borderlandsian humor/v.o.  Personally, it will likely have my money.

8 ) CoD AW: it's a CoD game for sure. With mechsuits!

    9) Destiny.  ........................put this way I'm probably going to see it in the next couple weeks at Activision in their "clean room" for PR/press/analyst/etc. demos.  Or so they tell me.  Maybe I'm dumb but from watching it at E3 I don't get the game yet.  I get the awesomeness of Bungie's ability to create a universe and all, but I need to get up close with this thing.  I'm sellable but just not sold yet.  (Waiting to be proven soooooo wrong.)

    10) Playstation TV.  Definitley interesting if it works.  Not so sure about how it fits with my PS3/PS4/vita yet (haven't reviewed all the features yet) but I'm cautiously optimistic.

    11) Killzone DLC ... 4 player coop.  Killzone fans: this looked really cool.  And it's got IR:

    pVT0WaL.jpg

That's two years in a row he was demoing Killzone Shadowfall!

    12) Wargaming.net:  no new games to announce but they are making so much money (mostly on PC, mind you) that they had a balls out massive booth again.

    13) MGS V...saw a little inside the booth but not getting the big dog/pony show until tomorrow.  This may be the first MGS I actually attempt to finish.

    14) AC: Unity.  Saw it up close. Didn't play.  I'm not really that big a fan of the series but those of you who are should be pleased.

    15) Speaking of AC,  LotR Shadow of Mordor is more impressive than I was expecting.

    16) LoZelda for WiiU was fucking stunning.  Wow.

    17) ...and Hyrule Warriors, must admit I didn't know about this until Tuesday.  Hilariously makes sense now that I saw it up close.

    HW_Link_Slash_2.png

...and I'm spent.  Might take the Nikon tomorrow to take some "real" photos...so...tired...must...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

PS...I have some themes for the show which I will try to post Thurs night.  One is sooooo hipster.

  12. Rainbow Six Siege looks dope (Go Team Havoc)!

AC Unity: first look was great but I'm afraid that cheesy AI behaviors and dialogues will ruin the immersion for me.

No Man's Sky is looking more and more impressive - pretty much to the point of disbelief considering that this is such a small studio developing it. I'm still trying to find out what exactly the gameplay is going to be though...

On R6 Siege...I didn't realize at first that it was a recording of people playing the game, not ingame voice over simulating what a hostage rescue scenario would be like.  IOW, my first reaction to the VO was "WTF this is way to casual. Kinda like The Division."  But then it made more sense that it was the voices of gamers playing the games and Ubisoft wanted you to get that.  Except they were a little to formal.   Arg, tough to get that right.

    tl;dr: looks sweet.

  13. Oh absolutely, it's hard to beat the last one. But right now, it gave me just a little extra glimpse of what MGSV is going to be, it's a good spoiler safe trailer (for the most part) with an awesome music and camera cut. Shame we don't have a release date yet, but it looks to me this might very well be the best MGS ever man

    This.

MGS has always been a series u love or u just don't see the point. Once u get it it hooks you despite Kojima-san's eccentricity. His trailers work the same way. Coming 1984. What balls. Love it.
