I wasn't raised with a religion and have only been to church 2 or 3 times for funerals so I never really had anything to conform to or rebel against wrt to death. When it comes to these "big questions" I just read stuff by Hegel, Kierkegaard, Nietzche, Heidegger, Schopenhauer, Camus, Sartre, Dostoyevsky, Hesse and many others. They never answer the questions but instead create new more interesting ones than "what is death", "what is the meaning of life", etc. I'm very skeptical of any writer or movement that claims to have an answer, even science to an extent. In conclusion, I imagine death being similar to the last 20 minutes of 2001 space odyssey, except forever. edit: I highly recommend these 2 short stories on death/life/afterlife by Issac Asimov. I'm sure a few of you are already familiar with them. I would read The Last Question first since it was published first. 1) http://www.multivax.com/last_question.html 2) http://jasonjackson.com/weblog/2009/12/ ... ac-asimov/

They officially started shipping a couple weeks ago and the first reviews are coming in. I was skeptical at first but it actually looks pretty awesome. Check out the recent related videos too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CaU9jQQJ1o Pandora/nintendo/sony handhelds, netbooks, kindle/nook, smartphones. And that's just portable stuff. Poor bank account

So what if someone doesn't craft during that second gateway when the golden wrench is dropped?

I think all the menu changes coincided with the MAC/STEAM thing. Do the gold models disappear at the same rate as regular dead models?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmID2qGxqC8 This was the only show on for the half hour before I went to school for about 3 years. Also, holy shit street sharks, what the fuck I'm old.

I had the KP3 for about 6 months before I sold it and replaced it with this: I found the x-station + reason + logic studio to be a lot more flexible but you can't deny the sexiness of the KP3. Later I went full on DAW and got rid of my MPC1000 for a MPD32. MPC1000: MPD32: I agree that it's nearly impossible to make music other people are willing to listen to (I also make bad electronic stuff) but damn if it isn't fun as hell. Also, I'm pretty sure all the toys got me laid at least 3 times so +1 rockstar duffy.

I think most people realize 3D is just corporations selling proprietary hardware while trying to decrease piracy. The benefit to users is minimal going on negative. Maybe if they made some major changes in the next year I'd be interested but right now, nah.

Stampede death be damned, I really need to visit Brasil ASAP.

I wouldn't bother with programming until you create a problem or have an idea that will inspire you to problem solve. If you're just making the tutorial programs you're gonna get bored or frustrated real fast. That's how it was for me at least.

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is destined to find a home here soon enough: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superseded_scientific_theories Unfortunately it's still taught to college freshman everywhere and accepted because it gives a plausible answer to a bad question.

I don't know how long the warranty is but Oakley will repair the frame for free/cheap as long as you provide the lenses. Worked for me a few years ago.

So I haven't seen the movie or watched the trailer but...holy shit is that supposed to be Flushing Meadows park? If so that is fucking awesome. Do they give an explanation in the movie why it looks like that? Was there a scene there or something? That's like 10 minutes from my house Except it looks more like this: I guess in the future they finally tore down those space elevator things.

If that's true I don't know what to think about anything anymore.

I'm gonna be an insensitive asshole and suggest the bomb (based on the NYTimes description) wasn't worthy of Times Square. Years of NYC high terror alert porn and "what if" scenarios and the best they can do is a couple drums of gas and some fertilizer on a side street. I guess you can't expect much when your terrorist is based in Connecticut. The patrols of soldiers with mp5's and m4's around grand central are cool though. edit: congrats

Luckily it's just an ant problem, not roaches. Well...ants and those orange mother fuckers with a thousand legs. We had roaches when I was a kid at a different apartment and after they sprayed around it seemed to take care of it. Maybe if you live in a big old house it's more of a problem but we were on the 3rd floor.

New media developers are the worst :ssj: Possibly even worse than them are people in new media who don't have any practical skills. "Guys we need something explosive, something that's going to change the game, shift that paradigm you know? It's gotta have the brand quality of facebook, innovation of twitter but promote social mobility like chatroulette. But more important than any of that it needs a great name. Something that sounds like a noise a 3 year old child would make or a play on an already existing word like FROOGLE or CUIL. Three months from now our product is going to be the verb on everyone's tongue. 'LOOK WHAT SCOTT JUST NEWPRODUCT'D!' IS WHAT THEY'LL SAY." I was going to stop after one sentence but it was too easy and fun I couldn't help it :\
