Welcome! Keeping the metrics on that sheet in mind is definitely a good idea. Can you increase the brightness of the lighting? It is really dark (on my screen?) right now

Hi everyone!
My name is Moritz and i'm currently the lead designer at Mimimi Productions based in Munich Germany. We founed the company directly after our game design studios, so i really don't have any working experience outside of the bubble that is our small group. That always makes it interessting to read and talk about the different approaches and look at other people's work!
The last game i worked on was "Shadow Tactics", which is a real time tactical stealth game (basically its Commandos with ninja ;D). There i've been working on the gamedesign but also many parts of leveldesign from planning levels, blocking them, putting in the art assets (no asset-creation though), enemy setup/puzzle design, scripting and final polish. (we are small studio so everybody does many things).
Before that we made a 3rd person action adventure called "The Last Tinker" where i basically did the same thing... The games are in a completely different genre, though, which was pretty interessting and lots of new stuff had to be learned from a GD/LD standpoint.
Thats all there is to say about me, i guess

I found this community via a link to an article on facebook, browsed through the forum and decided to sign up.
Looks like there's a whole bunch of cool and taleneted people here
So i wanted to hang out, talk, learn things etc. etc.
Heard many good things about Shadow Tactics. Welcome!

So...Did your boss avoid the talk once again?
Also, It's my third month of backpacking around Southeast Asia....Found my way to a remote island in the Philippines. The road ahead is full of curves and uncertainties...got no clue where I'll be sleeping the next night.
Remote islands full of animal predators, hostile indigenous tribes and low internet bandwidth are the worst.

Seriously read the details, jury came down conclusively on Oculus not having stolen any trade secrets from Zenimax, the fines were all to do with random other breaches of contract and shit.
Half a billion is a lot of cheese tho

This f***** movie is just awesome
7 golden globes awards this year;
From Damien Chazelle, If you lovd Whiplash, this one should please you too. It's really, really great, bot visually and musically.
I've also watched Hacksaw Ridge, from Mel Gibson, which is a pretty good movie too.
I went to see La La Land like a favour to this girl that I'm dating and I quite enjoyed the movie. I expected a corny musical and it turned out to be much better than that. Plus I got laid so all in all: 8/10 - would watch again.

For simplicity's sake, think of the creation of a level to be 50% design and 50% environment art. It's two different disciplines working together. But they are not the same, because the people working in them have different goals and priorities. So you already got the 2nd half covered, which means that you can take a whitebox to a finished state by yourself - which is great as you won't need to rely on someone else to polish the visuals. But you cannot expect people to believe you that you got the first half of the process covered, because, well, it is a different thing. So it is time to start designing some levels, release them for people to play and be ready to explain why you made certain decisions when you encountered certain problems. The presentation of a portfolio is a topic by itself, but if you dig around you will find that we have resources on this as well. Good luck!

I feel the exact opposite about it. The game might be about the clash of different universe but stylized Super Mario in that realistic urban setting...it just looks so wrong to me. Like a fan project.

I purchased flight tickets to go to NYC end of March. I've never been to the city (first time to the US East Coast for me actually). Any MapCorians who are living there and want to hang out, hit me up!

After being absent for nearly 4 years, I am going to rejoin the industry in April. Can't effin wait. I needed this break but I am ready to go back in now. Working a different and completely unrelated job for these last years has given me a new appreciation for how nice it is to work in games, surrounded by talented people passionate about the same thing.
So yay! I am back
and hopefully this means I will be back on Mapcore more often too.
Also, the amount of Hurgs in future videogames should therefore increase drastically.
I have missed you all!
I hear ya! Welcome back!
