Even though I haven't been into mapping as much as some of the others, the channel and then the forums have always been such an awesome place to be for a gaming and CG enthusiast. There have been so many talented people in here. It's a good feeling to know that so many of the great games that have come out over the years was developed with someone from Mapcore. Go Mapcore! Its kinda sad to see the IRC channel slowly fade away though

Why are you not biting it Mazy..?

Yes, figure out what you're going to do with the sound. Does the TV allow a separate audio source than the video stream (ie. audio through optical/3.5mm analog, RCA, etc) Most cards have a small audio-in slot that lets you connect a cable from your motherboard/sound card to the graphics card so both video and audio are channeled through HDMI. Most newer high-end and HTPC cards (8400GS, 9400GT) have HDMI but SOME of them don't, but they come with a DVI->HDMI convertor. I don't think audio can be passed through that DVI slot on the card. I don't know if these cards have an audio-in thingie and if DVI will pass it to that DVI>HDMI convertor. My living room PC has a 780G board with HDMI that has onboard graphics/sound so I have no such problems.

I have a 42-inch LG 1080p LCD TV + HTPC in the living room. I don't use it as a gaming rig but to browse and watches HD content on with the lights dimmed or turned off. With a TV of such sizes, I don't see why people should sit at a distance of 8 and 10 ft or more! Just use a 22-inch display and sit 2 ft from it then I sit at a distance of around 5ft from the screen and I have tried playing some games. I've been using the Xbox 360 controller. I've also configured it as my controller for my PC. Text is clear, readable and games playable and they look great! There are no delay/lag issues with this TV but I have seen some others with some serious problems. Choose carefully.

Acumans! Very nice stuff. OT: Long time! How have you been and what system are you using now! -
Are these things like astrology and horoscopes? They predict and say things that are common to many other groups people and often you find them to be true. BTW, I'm INFJ too D: and the most of the things said above SEEM to be true with me. RPG games should here on have a "Choose your MBTI" option where you enter your MBIT thingie and it selects a race/character and customizes it for you

Talk about coincidence. I JUST finished watching it a few minutes back and rushed to Mapcore.net looking for a topic! T'was fun~

I watched 30 minutes of the presentation late one night. It's exciting for me and being Google, there's a good chance a lot people will use it which makes it even more interesting. Waiting to check it out for myself~

HAAAPPPY BADDHAY Thrikkles~

Check the price difference between the HX620 and the TX650. If it's tiny, take the HX620. Even if you don't care about modular, fewer cables and better airflow is a nice thing to have

I agree. You should at the GeForce GTX 260 or the ATI Radeon 4870. The Real Power 450W should be sufficient.

Not sure about you guys but an i7 system works out to around twice as much as a decent Core 2 Quad setup (CPU+mobo+ram) in India. If it's a lot cheaper than it is here, then by all means, go for it!
-
hah you bought the exact one i own elite me elite too! I have it too! (for 2 years...I had to add) http://www.liveforspeed.net klein and dux! It promises you loads of fun (as long as you race clean!). Get a S2 license now!

Built an HTPC for the 42-inch LCD HDTV today AMD Athlon X2 5400+ ASUS M3A78-EM (780G chipset) Kingston 2 GB DDR2 Value RAM Was using my 2004 rig for the past month. With this configuration, 720p runs with 5-10% CPU utilization. 1080p takes ~30% with some post-processing. Might build a see-through acrylic case for it sometime. It'll be sitting in the open for the next few days. @Sindwiller: NAA-HES bass

Looks like a Nikon D60!

I'm not sure how to react to this. He was always known as a good person with a good sense of humour. Many of us knew him for so long. This is really sad news. We'll miss you Watah

Oooh oooh! me! I'm a retarded online sim racer! I'm from India and I use a Logitech Momo. The Logitech G25 is some 3 times more costlier here and although I've used it and I know it's better, I don't feel compelled to buy it. If it was some 50-70% more, then maybe I would. The few simmers present here use the Momo as well. The G25 has become a little more popular recently but is nowhere close to the Momo in numbers sold. Many people purchase Xbox360 controllers as well - they use it for all kinds of games. I have one too and I think it's much more popular than the Logitech wheels. And if this thread attracts sim racers, do post your Live for Speed IDs and for those who felt the urge to play simulations (realistic ones ), please do try Live for Speed, GTR2, Richard Burns Rally and rFactor.

Went to Lamington Road yesterday (Bombay's electronics/computer street) Bought a DVI->HDMI connector, 1.5m HDMI cable so I can connect my old PC to the TV for the time being before I build a compact HTPC next week or so.. I have XBMC running on that PC and it's goooood. Also bought a soldering iron, multimeter, wire, flux, couple of capacitors, transistors, resistors..I'll try building a small headphone amp in some free time (if I get some i.e). My first electronics DIY attempt..
