  1. Gotta say that after I've finished it then I'm kinda disappointed by it. It started out quite well, but I think some of the points people have brought up here are spot on.

The levels are too big, which discourages storming around being a badass and often makes it necessary to play it extremely safe and snipe people with guns from far away. The first one had that in parts, but it felt like it was way easier to make it feel like an awesome action movie where you just went through one continuous combo rather than having to stop up (or maybe I've just gotten worse at games since the last one, lels). Also I think my longest time in a level was at 40 minutes, and though I totally totally love the soundtrack, then at that point you start getting pretty tired of the same track running over and over.

I appreciate that they're trying to mix things up with the dudes you have to shoot to bleed out + the dudes that need to be taken out with melee weapons, but again then it just made it less fun rather than add an interesting element to the combat. It often felt more like a puzzle than an awesome action game, which might be fine for some people, but IMO then the first game was better for not trying too hard, even if that definitely also had situations that you had to diffuse with a puzzle like mentality.

Oh and then there's the story, where I have no idea what it's about, but maybe that's the point. Didn't really piece together all the different characters and threads by the end :G

The soundtrack and presentation of the game is absolutely brilliant tho, and it is great gameplay from time to time, but overall it just soured significantly throughout my play through :(

  2. Played it a bit with a friend online a week or so back, was pretty good hectic fun, really like the sounds and feel of the shooting. I can only imagine the sheer madness that would ensue in a 4 player game tho :)

  3. I had a hypothetical conversation about with this with a die hard nintendo fan a while ago, and he was adamant they wouldn't/shouldn't do this.

Haha yeah, I've had that same conversation with some of my hardcore Nintendo fanboy friends. Nintendo's hardware has in my opinion been their weakest link for a while now, so I've argued for them going 3rd party which has always made them furious :D. But I didn't grow up with Nintendo (well, I had a Gameboy), so I don't have the deeply ingrained nostalgia.

I'd rather just have them do what they do best, which is creating some of the best games around. Obviously hardware sales of the Wii begs to differ with them just cutting the ties to hardware entirely, even if that is a while back now, and with the NX announcement then they're still going for that, but I honestly wouldn't be sad if they gave up entirely on their hardware business.

Guess it was just a matter of time before their investors had had enough of the WiiU under performing while smartphones are eating a large part of the 3DS's lunch. Apparently it'll be all their IP which are open to be used, but thank fuck it sounds like it won't be ports but rather developed specifically for mobile platforms.

I know some might see it as admitting defeat from Nintendo's side, but I'm really interested in seeing how this turns out. I really like the 3DS and WiiU, but the idea of having Nintendo quality games designed for smartphones seems pretty great to me, but I guess it'll take a while before any of this sees the rest of the world.

  5. Awesome Mazy! Best of luck dude, hope you enjoy it!

Could somebody put me back under Creative Assembly on the first page? I'm back there now and really loving it :)

Thanks man! I also went ahead and updated the first post with both our updates too :)

  6. Played the first heist twice yesterday, really good so far, the stuff you do with the different roles seem quite varied so far. Gonna be interesting to see how this translates to the heists with 4 players (the first one is only for 2 players).

  7.

I really want a good SimCity like game, but hasn't this series been....not particularly good so far? Eager to hear your impressions~~

This is a new thing, not cities xl.

It's pretty good! They got so much right.

Ahh, I assumed it was in the (old/other) Cities series, with Skylines just being a fancy name for the latest entry.

  8. They said that it had a 2015 release window, but that's about it :)

Anyway, obviously it's better to have it later and have it be great, but I sure as hell hope that 2015 won't be another 2014 in terms of game releases that get pushed :v

  9. Anyone else playing this? Played it for little over an hour yesterday and it's pretty good. More of the same, but good.

I do appreciate that they're trying to mix things up from time to time

for example the level where you're going for a pacifist approach was an interesting idea for someone that often leans a bit too heavily on firearms,

but it's still best when you're just left in a classic HM situation to fuck shit up on your own terms.

Oh and the soundtrack is amazing.
