  1. Had a board game night yesterday with a bunch of friends where we finally tried out Resistance: Avalon. We've tried regular Resistance a couple of times and I love it, but man Avalon just adds some incredible elements that make an already super paranoid game even more so. I'd probably rank it among some of my best gaming experiences to date - of all types of games - even if it is extremely emotionally taxing :D

If you can get a large group of friends together then I guarantee that this is an absolute blast (or it will ruin friendships :D).

And if people don't know Resistance then check this out:

  2. Pretty cool, but though I really respect the Total War games then I've always had a hard time really enjoying them (or rather I've enjoyed the strategic part of it more than the tactical). Hopefully this will change that~

  3. Been playing a bit of Assassins Creed: Unity recently. Got it for free with my new gfx card. Words can't describe how awesome the art is in this game. Hands down together with Alien: Isolation the most inspiring game for an artist right now. Also runs surprisingly well considering the bad things i heard about it. The worst bugs seems to be fixed. Crashed only once on me and haven't seen any game breaking bugs otherwise.

Yup, definitely the best looking game around right now IMO. I've been enjoying it quite a lot, though I got it at launch then I didn't have time to play that much of it back then and only got around to playing it after the first big patch was out, but the worst bugs I've encounter have been some glitchy pathfinder in a few spots and being briefly stuck in geometry and then being spat out, nothing severely game breaking.

It's still very much the same AC gameplay (ugh), but I found myself really enjoying just exploring the city, finding collectibles and such. Most of the story missions are pretty poorly executed with a few exceptions tho, but I'd definitely recommend it to people that like the setting and just wanna relax by running around and looking at pretty visuals :)

  4. Really well made but also pretty damn awkward when they're not saying anything (for obvious reasons), that's pretty integral to what really makes the Valve made TF2 shorts pop for me, all the dialogue between the characters. Anyway, for a fan made short then it's really impressive.

  5. Shadow of Mordor, without a doubt. A large part of it probably comes down to it coming almost out of nowhere and just being a game that wasn't afraid of being....well, a game.

After that I'd probably pick Towerfall Ascension (though that's a cheating a bit, since the Ouya release was in 2013, but....Ouya :)) and Sunset Overdrive. With honourable mentions being 80 days on iOS and GTA V (yet again, because it's fucking gooood).

Still haven't played Dragon Age (planning on doing that over the holidays) and I still need to get me a Wii U, has been a really good year for that console.

  6. Had limited time for games yesterday, but I loaded this up as well and played it for an hour. Like you guys are saying then it's definitely more of the same, but that's not a bad thing for the most part. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about the first person platforming when climbing the towers tho, was never the biggest fan of it in 3, and it does tend to feel kinda awkward (like 1st person platforming often does).

Anyway, looking forward to spending more time with it, seems like yet another game recently that you can sink in a lot of time into.

  7. I might be weird, but I actually think 1st person makes it fun to drive legally for the first time ever in a GTA game...well, once in a while :) It does feel pretty twitchy to drive in 1st person tho.

  8. Was pretty good. I'm not really as blown away by it as most of you, but it had some really awesome sci-fi ideas and I like how it tackles ideas and concepts that can be pretty hard to wrap your brain around in fairly accessible ways.

Plus when a movie is nearly 3 hours long and it feels like time passes by extremely quickly then that's a pretty good sign :)
