the funny this is that there are so many different kinds of metal, for instance i dont really like black or death metal, or the theatrical makeup stuff, i think is just ridiculous, but bands like dillenger escape plan or between the buried and me are shaggy2dope
-
that movie definetly sucked, but gimme some hardcore over that foreign metal bs anyday
-
Agreed, but I really dont think there is anything smart coming out of this thread, "What is art man?" "man, man.....thats not art" "no man, it totally is". As an art student, ive heard this conversation man times before, ive had teachers start this conversation. It sounds a little different because this is about videogames, but I'll tell you, the only requisite for something to be art, is someone has to say "This is art"
-
I think this thread is kinda stupid and so is Hideo Kojima. Only someone who isnt an artist would claim that video games are not art. Unless of course you dont really understand what art is like in Hideo Kojima's case. Art is whatever the hell you want it to be! there i said it.

i'll probably make prints this weekend, and hopefully i can find a scanner somewhere

well, its not even about you, its about archives, ook's grandparents cant print the pictures, but he can, thats good history.

No, i do not thing a piece of cake is better than money for an entire cake, i think thats a good metaphor, but i dont agree. I simply do not think digital storage is even on par with film, and I dont dislike digital photography, but keeping a harddrive for a hundred years is not the same as keeping film negatives. There are film negatives like ook was saying that he gets to see from his grandparents, he can print those today. Digital is a brand new technology, do you really think harddrives or computers or anything that could possible store those digital pictures will be the same in a hundred years so that you can easily print those? Now there are ways to put digital pictures onto film, that I think is sweet. As for ruining film, ya its a tricky business, thats why I started a whole thread in with glee when I processed my own film for the first time, and DIDNT fuck up, i was proud of myself because 80% of everyone else doing it for the first time screwed their's up. But theres a reason you learn and master the techniques. So, film is tangible, you can hold it in your hand, you can put it in a box and ook can see it 2 generations later. 1's and 0's are not, im sure people will take AMAZING care of their harddrives...but one magnet later and its a paperweight.
-
the photographs become yellow if they arnt processed correctly, or if the technology wasnt quite up to par (like 70s color photos) but the actual film stays around in great condition for a long long time, and you can reprint with them, where as digital is just a file, just 1's and 0's that isnt anything actually tangible
-
i dont think he meant its more artistic just because its "the cool" thing to do, i think he meant it because there are things you can only do on film, more possibilities means more artistry
-
film has archival propertys that digital doesnt, i mean sure you can back up on hd after hd, but a harddrive isnt celluloid. i cant see 35mm going the way of the dodo
-
Its a good start, but it really seems empty still, not much is going on yet. Also the lighting seems a bit bright right now
-
one huge step for jonathan! ya i dont have any photos, but i did develop my first rolls of film today, im just so proud i didnt ruin any of it, i thought i'd share it with the world

i think coke being less habitual is funny... haha..hahaha, but seriously, i agree

Maybe its the fact that life is violent and games mimic life creating a whirlwind of logic in a prudish, ignorantly blissful upper middle class social dynamic that creates a fear of the unknown or worse the fear of the known and the spread thereof. So I propose: who cares? play what you want, create what you want.
-
if people do not like blood and gore then they shouldnt play the games, if parents dont like it, they shouldnt let their children play it. my parents are very strongly apposed to guns, and never let me play with toy guns. a Hostel game would be sweet, just to you can cut people toes off
-
i think games are not violent enough, if games were really violent the way they should, then people would look at q4, fear, and postal, and they'd be jokes! where are my voilent games? shooting someone? that isnt violent, i want games were we can torture people slowly, or peel off their skin hannibal style. one day in the not too distant future we'll look back and wish there were calm games like gta, or manhunt.

that would be redundant

sorry to bust your rant nexus but the "rope from king kong's butt" was just a vine, already established to be around the island...BUT! there is a good point to be made of, the height of that cliff, and the length of the vine and exactly where it was going, if it wasnt pulled up by kong, they would have fallen to their deaths!
