the 20" dell or the 20" samsung?
-
So I've never owned an LCD monitor before to know what to go for, but am buying one to replace this crappy 17" CRT I have. I'm looking for something close to or under $300USD, ideal for gaming first, then design/video. toad recommended this but it's slightly over my budget ($300) and has a crappy 16ms response time. Plus I'd have to order it being a dell :/ CJ recommended the samsung 940BW which while it has a 4ms response time it only has 500:1 contrast ratio, or the 205BW which has a 700:1 contrast ratio, goes up to 6ms response time, and costs $100 more than the 940BW, and both are TN which I hear is bad. Help.

do you guys like mail it in for me or do i get the discount right now or what?

how does this fall into the list? was there a sudden surge of people wanting that

So does Windows installers, its optional, what are you talking about? Indeed, the installer even highly recommends to do a format of the partition you wish to install windows to, while still leaving the option not to. Choice is good.

wow i like how the linux fanboys try to take over the thread. This is why i hate the linux community, say one thing about windows, all the linux bitches rush in and do their WINDOWS SUCKS LOLOLOL routine. At least the windows community is more mature.

Jacko mentions that the person being dunked in the toilet is black. Way to put racism into it, Jack...ass. Not related to Jacko at all, if you take blacks out of the picture completely, someone calls the race card. if you put a black person in it, it's racist.

are you doing http://www.mapcore.net or mapcore.net?

He propels himself off slopes. You can see it clearly in the dam area, he isnt flying straight up Well I didn't get to watch this one, i watched parts of the first half, but switched to full screen, and it restarted the video. but since youtube doesn't let you skip ahead and resume downloading where you skip to (unlike google video), i didn't want to rewait for the video to download. but the other speed demo i mentioned, there was a bit of vertical tau jumping, against a completely vertical concrete wall.
-
the tau jump works in solo, but not on the Z axis, so he's using the speed given by the gauss to jump on ramps. Also the video isn't in one only part but that's still amazing I tested the tau cannon on the first xen level. one of the low gravity levels. even with the low gravity of the level, when i jumped and released the tau charge, it barely moved me. yet the guy manages to jump 50 feet vertically into the air.
-
That's why the whole thing is retarded. It's not a proper speed run. You're not playing the game when: you use an exploit to skip past several levels (at least with mario the warp zones were secrets); and you mod the game to change functions. See previous post for tau cannon questioning.
-
does the guy in this video tau jump? I remember watching another where the guy did tau jump (bypassed the whole dam area) - but I don't remember tau jump working in single player, but just death match. (just checked, yeah it doesn't let you jump with it in single player, it just has a tiny bit of recoil)

needs better controls, but i did painfully manage to get all 17 targets :/

So should everyone

BTW, the teaser is available through the Steam media section. It's the exact same video that was first found on valvesoftware.com, with no watermark that you'll probably see if you download the video from any fileplanet type site.

I have a depressing feeling that it'll only work on world geometry

Hah, TF2 was the first thing I thought of for MP with portals. Even better, have a spy open a portal in front of your sg, and then another on the wall facing the enemy respawn. In TFC, it's lame to build an SG outside the enemy respawn room... but with this, it'd be in your own base
-
Lost had portal guns? no I was reffering to the whole orientation video thing So when anything makes use of an orientation video, that means they're ripping off lost? Hardly. It'd be questionable if they did the orientation video in the style of lost's. but no. Try again, Zete.

Indeed. It's like calling gmod a jbmod ripoff, even though the roots of that gameplay began before jbmod. Also, saying only game X can have a usage of Y feature, it reminds me of patent whores. It slows down innovation.

I don't get why people complain (or bring up... quit reminding valve they could get away with selling it as a seperate product) about it being bundled with EP2. Do they prefer paying $20 twice for seperate games instead of $20 once for two bundled games? edit: i dont mean like what thrik said. his comment just reminded me of the people bitching about the episodic content while discussing tf2. Like this from shacknews: "And it's going to make some people (like me) wish that I could buy it without episode two..." If TF2 were standalone, it'd probably be $20 anyways. So those that would buy TF2 regardless of EP2, are getting a free EP2 with their purchase. They're not paying any more. If they don't want the episodic content, they don't have to play/install it (I'm assuming they'll be seperate games on the steam games screen, given that cs:s was supposed to be hl2's multiplayer, and those are seperate).

7 years? It's not like they were making a game engine or a sequel to some best selling game within that time period... no, those kind of things should never take priority, that's just silly.
