Wasn't Brothers in Arms a Dire Straits album... am I missing some obvious ACDC connection here?

Ironically that soldier is Cpl. Sam Corrion. He's the character that I voice.

Hmmm not really with BiA specifically (although I think that idea would hold credence with other franchises.) Each game I've extended what the story is capable of farther and farther out. With BiA3 we have a really solid two game base to build on so the development of the characters is going much farther than ever before. When we started BiA and decided to follow one group of guys we knew we were going to go all the way with it, we knew what we were getting into. Market Garden is the point where it all comes crashing down... this is game where everyone loses something. I think more people are going to pay attention to what we're doing here because with this operation... the Allied didn't win. They completed their objectives at a very high cost only to give up and pull back with the British unable to take Arnhem. It's not a bunch of levels strung together for set pieces... it's a long highway and the story of 23 men's pursuit to get up it.

So we're official. (and here's some scans)

Well, you're over simplifying the requirements. It's really in place to show something of artistic merit or a creative achievement. The idea and execution are both awesome here.

its not cynical mathematics. if a normal studio can make a normal 10-15 hours game in a few years, a SMALLER studio can't churn out the same quality for 5 times the content. What it is- is a scam. So much filler it'll make your eyeballs bleed. But hey, it's your money.

i'm also sort of lol about them announcing 9 episodes at 20 bucks a piece. Hello 180 dollar game.

and i doubley hated it there because the game was so good. call of duty 2 also did it... only near 88's and other highly incendiary things. which made it even stupider. DOWN WITH EXPLODING BARRELS '06!!!

They said in an interview a few weeks ago that all half life 2 content had been removed. Having said that, I've followed the last few things that Ritual has done and was unimpressed (cs:cz, 25 to life.) They seem to follow a very strict old-school style fps strategy that I find alarmingly stale lately. Something to the effect of... You are a quiet bad-ass who throws out a few choice (and lame) one-liners as you dispense sordid justice on the end of the same old weaponry. You will meet characters who will serve no purpose other than to explain what a level designer was thinking but along the way you will need to pick up health packs to recover from the 9000 bullet holes you were penetrated with. This is capped off by an almost endless supply of enemies whose AI the developer has been touting for months, but in the end you can kill many of them at a time with little problem because they constantly seek refuge behind conspiciously placed inflammable barrels that explode on contact with a single bullet.

hey could you make your sig a little bigger? I can still see two posts at once on my screen.

dude. i would totally make a bomb like that. make it one of those 10 coin boxes from mario where you have to hit it 10 times to get all the coins. only on the 10th hit, instead of a coin it explodes.

what about robots versus Jesus? Where one team is a bunch of robots and the other team is one player as Jesus.

Ha, I wanna see the parent who is like "oh look a wholesome gamecube" and then their kid buys Killer7 or Resident Evil 4.

1) MAME is for arcade games. They are selling NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, and TurboGFX 16 games. 2) It's not a marketing tactic because they are offering a service. A service people want. 3) Outside of the small hardcore gamer minority, the mass populace is not aware of emulation as a viable means to play old games. In addition, emulation of copyrighted games is illegal and some people don't like to do illegal things. 4) I think it will be incredibly commercially viable. Nintendo has always had some of the strongest franchies out there, and I don't know many people that wouldn't shell out a couple bucks to play Mario 3 or Zelda : A Link to the Past again (or dare I bring up the Super Metroid, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger crowd.) This comes at very little cost to Nintendo minus some simple engineering costs. This means that even slow sales are profit. 5) You're not rebuying them at anywhere near the cost. They aren't going to charge you fifty dollars to play Mario 2. It's a low price that's a lot lower than what you'd pay in a store for one of those older games (I see Gamestop charge 25+ for snes games that are good.) For certain people this is a good deal because they don't have the means to get another NES or SNES and set it up. 6) The second this goes live I'll probably hit the buy all button.

Am I the only one that thinks that religion and the big bang can co-exist quite peacefully? I mean... if you can logically trace the history of existance back to a single atom that exploded into multiple and infinite universes... isn't that theoretically something God could do? I mean, if you have faith isn't that a good thing to have faith in? Instead of trouncing it for the sake of trouncing it? But hey, that's just me.

It seems like we going to meet Battlefield again
mikezilla replied to Taylor Swift's topic in Off-Topic
I didn't intend that. It won't be utopian at all, war is an inevitable human reaction. I'm saying this war they've created is absolute and utter bullshit. It doesn't make the least bit of sense. (Please save all Iraq jokes until after the discussion. Thanks - the management.) -

I'm extremely tired of hacked together future war scenarios. You can call it reading too much into it if you want, but the reality of what you're creating drives how real the game is going to feel. So breaking this down. The earth is covered in ice and becomes mostly uninhabitable, save for a small chunk which realistically I'm guessing is near the equator. Two "factions" (futurewars needs factions OBVIOUSLY) decide they both want the land and will fight to get it. They then use the clearly advanced and seemingly unlimited technology at their disposal to kill each other with mechs and junk. Why then, is the landscape open and filled with sporadic skyscrapers? Couldn't they theoretically use their high technology to build more highrise buildings to allow everyone to co-exist? They just built these skyscrapers in the middle of a forest??? The universe they created makes absolutly no sense and carries with it no weight, this is what causes people to hate all the b.s. sci-fi that rolls down the pipe from game developers. It's bad science because of any number of ridiculously science contradictions (the least of which being obvious global warming in the coming century that would proclude the world turning to ICE. Somebody watched The Day After Tomorrow too many times I think.) Then on top of that it's bad Fiction because the actions of the people involved don't make any sense either... this is not the cause of the war, people would not do this. Verdict : DOWNGRADE -

I need a few things translated for BiA3 for the script. It would be a big help. If you can help me translate your name will go in the special thanks credits for the game. my email is miken@gearboxsoftware.com or my aim is mikeyneumann -thanks

Actually marketing doesn't have the slightest idea what to do with it. Sam Jackson also exe-produced it and refuses to let them change the title. So now they're embracing it more... the movie is called snakes on a plane so... the trailer is snakes... on a plane. It will make very few dollars as it has the look, feel, and script of a straight-to-blockbuster piece of shit. Perhaps a better word for this movie is, anomaly.
