If you want to create height correctly you REALLY want to make the spaces between your bricks as black as possible. That will clean up the shape and push the bricks out.

Preface: I'm drunk. You are simplifying what it takes to create a photo-realistic texture in a next generation enviornment. In previous engines it was pretty easy to take a photo and tile it and call it done. However, to do that in a newer engine requires a lot more of delighting the diffuse layer and manually creating 3d information in a normal or deformation map. It's certainly not easy and requires a professional eye to get right. Also, play whatever you want, but don't criticize others for making the same decision differently.

I watched it a couple of times. The daughter had said a line about drugs, or being on drugs. I just figured they were able to sustain more gunfire and that was the way it was shown... which was confusing and a little too quick, heh.

A DvD is 720x480, so it is NEAR dvd quality... although resolution isn't the factor as much as compression I bet. The tv shows I saw off itunes before were more heavily compressed than I can really deal with. They need an HD ipod, and the internet to deliver it.

I think building a big colony on mars sounds very interesting. I don't quite understand where everyone gets off explaining how important pvp is to an mmo, when really the entire point was how important pvp was to WoW. I heard no such close-minded ramblings when we all collectivly rejoiced at the genius of Spore (which apparently encourages players to fly to other planets and destroy whatever beautiful creation they worked hard on.) Anyway, I've always been intrigued and excited by the concept of a co-operative mmo. That being it's main function. I remember jumping for joy years ago when I heard about Uru, and how cool it was gonna be "from the maker's of Myst." The idea of getting dropped into a strange world with my friends and running around together to solve the puzzles of the world was really neat. Coupled with content drops coming in "seasons" like a tv show, so we could continue exploring deeper and deeper seemed too good to be true. And it was, it was a total failure and almost a deliberate lie. However, I'm still waiting for that co-op mmo that encourages players to work together to solve a larger mystery (think about how crazy Lost fans are about the show and try to satiate that demographic.) Ramblings galore! Good luck, and I'll check it out in Austin tomorrow.

I think some of us were pointing out the irony of vivi galavanting around talking about getting a job, and then in the same breath talking about pirating both CoH and bia3.

Well, that's just something we put together for E3. To show what the game is like. Realistically when you enter a building and there is 6 people talking we'll pull the camera out and direct a cut scene (like we did with EiB.) Stuff we do TO the player (aka not talking) we put into the gameplay a lot better than that. But, hey, E3 demo. It's gonna be scriptey.
-
Yeah we're releasing the direct feed footage from the e3 demo to coincide with the Leipzig game conference. There were a ton of people who didn't see it as it was really only available as cam footage from a sweaty loud booth.

I watched it twice, my side was hurting from laughing so hard. This is my new favorite game. The scout is so amazingly fast it hurt me to wait any longer for this game.

Thanks for the input very constructive. Too bad you don't like it. I suggest you don't play it. That's the strangest reply to input I've ever seen (not that the input was very good to begin with.) Anyway, your map doesn't have a real cohesive feel to it. Like a bunch of neat little areas were created and then thinly strung together into one environment. Maybe go back to the drawing board on some of the stuff surrounding the castle and really think about what the land and terrain looks like around one. Pretty cool otherwise.

Someone was expecting a bit too much from their sci-fi FPS Well, no. My point is you can't say this movie, that exists far above what HL2 managed to pull, ripped anything off from it.
-
Try this on for size. That movie is adapted from a book by PD James from 1992. There are no aliens or robots. It is simply a great story about survival, and it doesn't hurt that Alfonso Cuaron is easily one of our most visually and story centric directors working today. I have no doubts this movie will be fantastic and a true classic that raising a bunch of questions of what it is that makes us human. Basically everything the story for Half Life 2 wasn't.

Actually, yes. And games.
-
yes it was. But if it makes you feel any better I'm buying the new m coupe that is pretty much the sickest looking car I've ever laid my pretty lil eyes on.

Jack Thompson did not lose this argument. Adam Sessler came off a raving loony who had absolutely ZERO prepared information to combat JT. He just yelled the entire time even though everyone else was as cool as a cucumber, this is detrimental to whatever cause Adam was trying to fight for. Games are not 100% innocent of putting ideas in people's heads (notice I said people, not children.) We would do better to admit games affect people as much as any other form of media does. So next time it comes up, just tell the person arguing with you that they mimic'd all those wars and stuff that happened in the bible.

This is a wreckless opinion. Blatantly stealing other people's work and repackaging it as your own is not something to be encouraged. Perhaps if it was Brothers in Arms they were blatantly stealing you wouldn't be so cheery about it. Or Mazy, if it were Hitman? Shame.
