  1. Got a new fangled Canon D20 and wanted to out in the front yard and test it. Test passed!!!!
  2. yeah i had a good time. really cool game. i will buy.
  3. if i were texturing ol's chest i'd texture it like this but with more detail.
  4. Wow that aftermath preview is underwhelming. and my favorite expansion (minus opfor which I can't pick for obvious reasons) is Frozen Throne. Totally killer.
  5. Really cool photos, makes me want to go to Rome.
  6. Well I'm gonna lock it. It's giving me a head ache. I love it when people argue angrily with each other about what "tolerance" is. There's some bitter and hilarious irony there.
  7. Political discussion exists to discuss whatever craziness we want to. It is not, however, a place where we can sit around an insult each other because we feel like it. Let's keep it civil and talk about the people running the show; not whatever disputes we have on the forum. Keep it above the belt.
  8. GOING OVERBOARD?!? KEEP GOING! KEEP GOING!
  9. Oddly enough (and this is a weird sidenote.) I was taught about religion in high school. It was a class called humanites where we studied what drove the famous nations and cultures through out history. We studied their art, their music, their literature, and their religion. It was a fascinating course that spoke more of history than any traditional history class I'd ever taken. It teaches you about the people that launched atrocities and those that saved entire races of people. We already know the facts of what happened, it was an amazing experience to sit around and piece together our version of the why. I would support a class like this being manditory, it explains the human condition and its cause and effect so fluently. Anyway, that's my two cents on the subject.
  10. It's odd to me that this evolution argument has come back so strongly since it was buried in the 50's (the argument to not teach it I mean.) I'm not really looking to sling mud or really insult anyone. I just have a minor observation. What exactly is there to teach in an objective intelligent design class? (Giving the benefit of the doubt and not putting it in a science class for obvious reasons.) The argument seems to have been petered down to "We are so complex it couldn't have possibly been an accident" which I consider a valid argument to the point that, hey it makes sense. But that's the WHOLE class right there; that ONE question. What book would they be studying? Certainly not the bible as it lacks objectivity for other "schools of thought" (to use their words.) Perhaps the answer is an existentialism class, where students sit on bean bags and drink hot tea while they discuss what they universe means. There's no need for books or teachers really, because it's OBJECTIVE study with no one pushing it either way. Maybe we came from God, maybe we came from frogs; let's discuss. I guess I do have one final opinion, that's more truth than anything. Kids do have a place to learn about creationism. It's called church. Kids have been learning about a God created world there for thousand of years. Why the sudden (and heated) push to get it taught in schools I wonder? Why this innate desire to pull the country apart even further than it already is? Poor USA.

i would like to thank you guys for replying so nicely and informatively. so rarely is that accomplished on mapcore. i guess we're all growing up.
  12. what did you light your level with? The hand of God? Looks stellar.
  13. This should be pretty funny. The objective is to create one of those solid color ipod ads... only hell i dunno ... funny? like this, only cool!
  14. that is bad ass! really like the lighting
  15. I was going for some kind of sad cave ice wall thing... this took way too long... although i might add some stuff to it later... like a sign or something. here it is for now.
  16. Alright, really branching out here. Try to emulate that of a nice vibrant cartoon world. I don't mean like cell shaded but more of the painterly backgrounds of a Chuck Jones cartoon or even sorta World of Warcraft-ish. Should be fun.
  17. is the single funniest smiley we have... i will use it more often. As for having any knowledge into the inner workings of EA. I know how a lot of the publishers work, it's important information to have in this industry. I know about EA Partners because I've talked to some people representing them. I didn't reveal much as to how they work at all, fact is I don't think a lot of people have any idea what goes on at the top level board meeting at EA (I hear it involves sacrifice of virgin chickens to a lower power, the wolf ram and heart if you will.) I'm just sharing my opinions of what I believe will happen just like everyone else. I also trust Valve to make good business decisions, because outside of taking a bit too long to make their games, their biz dev is good. And knowing how publishers work isn't "researching competitors." Develoeprs and publishers are not competitors (unless a publisher buys you I suppose.)
  18. I'm of the opinion Valve's work will change neither for the better or for the worse as a result of this deal. 1) EA Partners IS NOT EA (atleast in the sense you're thinking of.) EA Partners allows you a lot of creative control, even over your marketing and stuff. You're ultimately responsible, and they spend very little. It's low risk because it's ALWAYS on talent they can bank on. Valve is extremely bankable. 2) Valve isn't infallable. In my opinion (and I might be alone) the quality of half life 2 wasn't up to what half life 1 was. It had amazing art design, but it ended there for me. I found the story to be non existant, and they took no chances. 3) Why would EA care about Half Life 3,4,5? They know 1 and 2 were super sellers, it's not their property, they don't own it. They won't even bat an eyelash to change what's there. They only destroy good stuff when they own it and they do it in house. Neither of these is true. (Refer to Criterion's continuing quality on the Burnout series and the success of their renderware engine.) 4) I love pudding.
  19. yeah thats original.
  20. So I got sorta bored tonight and wrote this in an hour. Felt really good to be able to sit down and start and finish something. It's probably a bit confusing and rushed, but hey... it was fun. Enjoy: (special note thanks to angie for being my spellchecker when notepad could not.)
  21. Sort of an uneven site. The best thing I found on it was the alien slave skin for nighwatch, totally ridiculously good. The levels were a bit uneven. On one hand it's awesome you can map in so many different editors (and putting together a halo map is hard as hell, kudos) But I think a lot of developers going to your site might look at a game like Nolf2 not knowing its sorta simple to begin with and not understand the work put into it. I'd say if you stay on the track your on and really hammer down to get some more work out there (especially more next gen) you could get a job in a couple of years definitly.
