  1. Is there some not so hidden parallel between the fact mappers who make levels for Natural Selection can go crazy with scale, reality, etc? Where as cs or dod you're limited by many factors, and as such can't just take carte blanche on creating something insane?

All level designers are quake designers at heart I guess.

  2. PH-PH-PH-PHOTOCHOP!

That has created some really akward edges and lighting inconsistencies (for example the wheels have lighting in different direction???)

It has a good overall look, but up close it gets sloppy. Perhaps a bit more work on it and then some make a nice detailed alpha map for the shine so that the dust masks it away...

BUT the model itself is really good, with a good use of polys all over (except for the steering wheel... i think you went overboard a bit there.)

  3. photography is about focus. literal and otherwise.

if you want to focus on the beauty of a guitar, don't have your bath towels in the frame heh.

    makes it look unprofessional.

i took some quick pics of my guitar to use as an example.

  4. Those are really cool. I have a few issues with the guitar pics though... cause you took them in your room and you can see that, heh. That sorta breaks the immersion for me a bit.

Other than that those are really neat and you should post pics more often.

  5. i wouldn't remove the leaves. it's important to have interesting details for the players to see.

most current gem games have terrain systems that hide most and any tiling issues because of the varying elevations of the ground and deco layers of grass and rocks on top of it.

I think you had it pretty spot on, if anything I'd more leaves and rocks to give it a bit more of a visual punch.

  6. well it's half camera, half usage.

I have a canon telephoto to do that portrait like photography of fruits. It's a clever trick to get a really nice depth of field.

I probably looked really funny in my yard taking a picture of my pear tree from 4 feet away with a MASSIVE lens on the front.

    lololo.
