Thrik reacted to Mazy in Hitman: Absolution
If you play the 2nd checkpoint of the last level in the game in Contracts mode, you'll find a familiar name for one of the characters there

Thrik got a reaction from Sprony in Post ideas/feedback about new forums here
It looks like the search index only goes back to November 2011 for that feature, which is probably something that can be affected by rebuilding the search database but will probably mean a short stint of downtime. I'll add it to the list.

Can't wait! I expect the full Rick_D treatment!~~
Destructoid gave it a 8.5 (they gave KL2 af 1 out of 10), and Giantbomb a 4 out of 5, so at this point I'm pretty damn happy with the reviews ~

Thrik reacted to AlexM in Level Design Inspiration Photo Blog
Hey guys. I made a small blog which basically posts images that are inspirational for level design. Primarily real world stuff. Was originally just for me to collect and categorize images for myself but I though mapcore might be interested.
Japan urban areas are really dense and full of great shots for tight CS type levels. I have a lot of photos to go through.
If anyone else would like to contribute any images it would also be greatly appreciated. I try to guarantee at least one new image a day assuming I have the material.

Thrik reacted to arhurt in Ballistic, FPS running on facebook
Update: Ballistic is live on the US and has had a major makeover! Check it out at https://apps.facebook.com/ballistic-game/
Hi everyone!
It`s been nearly three years since I left Ubisoft to join Aquiris, and since then we`ve been hard at work. We`ve been through a long road and it`s great to finally have something concrete to show. I'd like to share with you some screenshots and footage of our upcoming game: Ballistic. It's a FPS that will run natively on the facebook canvas using Unity.
Here is a video of our beta build:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klKqWeYuBhk&feature=share
We expect to give a new meaning to games running on the facebook canvas with premium graphics and great performance on a great game experience with easy accessibility and without the need of a large download and complex installs.
The game is being developed by Aquiris here in Brazil and published by Rumble games.
Release is expected Q1 2013.
In the current build you can level up and earn credits to purchase guns and enhancements such as extra loadouts. You earn career points that you spend on a straightforward skill tree that allows you to do cool stuff such as use an SMG for a secondary weapon or do silent kills with your knife.
We currently are going to have a closed beta, unfortunately for most of you it will be restricted to Brazil only. Here is the sign-up website if you are interested: http://www.ballistic.com/ but the game should be released worldwide for free somewhere at the start of next year.
It is entirely streamed and we use procedural textures for most of our environments as well as having all textures compressed with Allegorithmic's Substance designer.
If you are interested in some of the process for our substance creation you can watch our presentation from Unite. The Ballistic presentation starts at 35:30 onwards after our Riders of Berk presentation. It was still called Quantum Conflict back then.
There is still a long road ahead of us towards launch, but we are very proud of what we have acomplished =) -

Thrik got a reaction from Pivalluggerie in Magnificent short movies
I really enjoy watching short movies, but I only come across new ones by word of mouth every now and then. It'd be nice to have a thread where awesome new ones can be shared for my pleasure (and everyone else's I guess).
Here's one I just watched, a lovely post-apocalyptic short that while pretty clichéd and lacking story is executed so well it's great to watch nonetheless:
And here's an oldie posted on MapCore before but it seems appropriate for anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of seeing it.

We're testing new version of Icebound and Siege again tonight. Perhaps we can have some casual play afterwards as well.
When I have the time, I'll see about setting up the server on a rotation so you guys can play casually

Awesome
Except, the vectored look of the crystals breaks up the lovely pixelated feel

Thrik reacted to Minos in What have you watched recently?
28 Weeks Later. Always heard this movie sucked ass but it's in fact one of the best zombie movies I have ever seen. Pretty different and unusual take on the theme

Thrik reacted to sixbyseven in DM-Warren: TF2 Style Map in Unity 3D
Hi all!
DM-Warren is my attempt at getting back into mapping, since I used to do quite a bit with TF2 and UDK before Unity...have always missed the simple joy of making maps- especially for multiplayer "arena" use!
DM-Warren is meant to be a fast, frantic, "warren" of FPS ker-blamming. Every area has multiple entrances and exits, but plenty of nooks and crannies for clever players to ambush from. An outer "donut track" provides entertainment for Run 'n Gun enthusiasts, while the central "Courtyard" encourages free-for-all boom-fests.
Exciting!
Thanks for looking, lots of updates to come!
